About the Project
After getting the family into playing RPGs it was only a matter of time before my son got into 40K. He's collected a small force of Ultramarines and now wants some characters. After seeing how much the characters cost I decided they could be Kitbashed.

Standard Jumbo Boys
I got a box of primaris Assault Intercessors. This has 10 Jumbo Boys in. The box contains plenty of heads and weapon options.
I also got some 40mm bases for the character models.
To start off my son needed a standard Assault Intercessor and a Sargent to finish off a unit.
Then I made a character from the novel ‘Leviathan’ ( he’s obsessed with this book!)

Apothecary Biologis - Vultis
This is another Character from the novel Leviathan.
Turns out he’s meant to be in some kind of heavy armour. To my untrained eye it looked like he just had a bit of a hood thing. ?
The build was more time consuming than I expected! I’ve got a deadline to meet (my sons birthday)

Lieutenant - Castamon
I was unsure how to make the Lieutenant look special / different? So I just raised the model up from the base with more cork than the others.
I’m still not sure what makes a space marine Lieutenant look special / different to normal space marine?
I mostly just did a head and weapon swap with this one.
The combi-weapon is a bolt pistol with another bolt pistol end stuck on. Then a hand flamer put underneath with an old jungle fighter flamer bottle on the bottom.

Chaplain
The Chaplain was the first character that seemed vaguely interesting.
I used Greenstuff to add a skull mask and ribcage.
Chopped the hammer head off a power hammer. Then made a basic winged mace head with bits of combat knifes.
The pistol is just a slightly changed bolt pistol.
Stuck on lots of gubbins to make him look fancy.
The model was still looking a bit boring so I added a servo skull. (Anvil Industry – Techno Skull Familiar)
Space Marines might be boring but all the stuff around them is cool. Servo Skulls, Cherubs, Servitors etc.

Techmarine
It turns out that Techmarines have all the gear. So lots of unique bits required on this one.
Most of the mechanical claw arm is bits of old disposable camera. The claws & saw are from Anvil Industry.
The 60s ray-gun is just random bits stuck in place of a plasma pistol.
A power hammer was modified with the help of a 2nd edition ork axe.
Top mounted bolter is just a bolt pistol with a mag attached to the side.
Servo skull from Anvil Industry.
I didn’t know what to do on the chest, so added an extra power pack thing to power all his gubbins.
The head is an option from a primaris battle suit.
I added a step to the base in order to turn the running stance into a stepping up position.

Judiciar
Wasn’t really sure how to do this one? Also I’m starting to run out of time to meet the birthday deadline.
I had a look at pictures of the GW Judiciar model. They seem to be a space marine with a big sword & hourglass!? So I made a big sword & hourglass, then ignored all the other details.
The Big sword was made out of a piece of sprue. I used a file to shape it. This process was simple but time consuming.
The random hourglass was made from 2 Frostgrave lanterns stuck together.

Bit of a quick boring head swap on this one. (Frostgrave Barbarian head)
In a lazy attempt to make the character more impressive I gave it an extra tall base. Also went for a He-man pose.

Up until now I’ve been trying to follow the rules etc. So that the Kitbashed characters are game legal. But rules are boring so I just decided to give the big dumb space marine a big dumb gun. Not sure what the gun even is, I’m pretty sure Captains don’t normally have them.
The kitbash was surprisingly easy. The arms needed a little bit of alteration. Then the weapon from a Tactical Warsuit thing was just stuck in place.
