Blanche Chaos Warriors regiment complete
Thanks everyone for their input on choosing the scheme for the Chaos Warriors. I did end up picking option #1 for the first regiment.
For the recipe, see this earlier post: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project-entry/1918090/
After completing a full regiment, I got to say the paint sets are amazing. The new Army Painter paints are great for serial painting and the colours for the John Blanche sets are so well picked, which is of course no wonder as it was done by the man himself. I also wholeheartedly recommend to try painting with a limited palette.
Who you gonna call?
Finished the “Paranormal Exterminators” from Crooked Dice. I’ve got some more Ghostbustery stuff lined up for some 7TV gaming.
Tomb Kings Necropolis Knights
Cracking on with the Tomb Kings for a change, I complete a regiment of Necropolis Knights. Rather involved to paint, but so cool models!
Here’s a quick colour reference
Primer: Pro Acryl Black Brown (flat, no zenithal)
Dark blue on the snakes:
– Basecoat: Citadel Corvus Black
– 1st highlight: Citadel Dark Reaper
– Further highlights: Scale Colour Cantabric Blue, with Citadel Wraithbone added in stages.
Gold:
– Pro Acryl: Rich Gold
– Wash: Citadel Agrax
– Highlights back: Pro Acryl Rich Gold + Bright Gold
Knights:
– Bone: 2 Thin Coats Skeleton Bone to Citadel Wraithbone
– Reds: Pro Acryl Burnt Red to Bold Pyrrole Red
– Blue: Vallejo: Periscopes
Chaos Warrior colour schemes
Following the previous post, I painted three more test models. Which scheme you like best?
All were done using the Army Painter John Blanche sets
Trying out the John Blanche paint sets - Chaos Warrior
I wanted to try out the Army Painter John Blanche masterclass sets. No better miniatures to paint in this style than Chaos Warriors.
With the exception of silver, I only used colours from these two sets.
Primer:
– Citadel Grey Seer
Cape:
– Banshee Brown basecoat
– Sunburst Ochre highlights, with some quick & dirty wet blending
– Warm Skin Shade, wash.
– Highlights back up with Sunburst Ochre
Fur:
– Ivory White basecoat
– Warm Skin Shade, wash.
Armour:
– Ironclad Grey basecoat
– The Darkness “highlights”
– Grimdark Shadow wash
– Highlights back up to The Darkness, with Ivory White mixed.
Boots, belt, gloves:
– Banshee Brown basecoat
– Grimdark Shadow wash
– Ruddy Terra highlights
Shield:
– The Darkness & Blenched Berry, cross blended
– Emperor Gold, the Chaos star
– Grimdark Shadow wash
– Warm Skin Shade, glazed over gold
– Bit of silver mixed for gold highlights
Axe head, belt buckles:
– Heavy Metal
– Grimdark Shadow wash
– Silver highlights
