People’s Republic of Bulgaria MECH conversion

About the Project
Although my avatar would make it seem otherwise, I personally haven't been much into Otaku culture since my teens. Nevertheless as another hobbyist slowly priced out of the main wargames I got into scale modelling and Gunpla. As someone unfamiliar with the shows I gravitated towards Bandai's 30 Minutes Missions. The designs from this range are fairly basic compared to other mecha kits and are not tied to a decades long franchise, therefore exactly my jam. Recently a friend of mine sent me a picture of a mecha kit from the Visual Novel Muv-Luv Alt. with DDR insignia. This gave me the idea to use my own kits to convert and paint a mecha with my own Warsaw Pact member motherland's colors: The People's Republic of Bulgaria. It will be a fairly simple project, I'm not an expert modeller so it's mostly going to be a simple paintjob and some decals but I thought the idea was novel enough to share. Hopefully carried with a lot of patriotism and ideology. УРААА!

After a long hiatus
I’ve been on and off this project for the last couple of months. I am a serial procrastinator so I forgot to keep up this blog. I will rapid fire some posts over the next couple days so I can put out a finished product.
Here I post some pictures of the assembled model. Gunpla kits usually look pretty great out of the box, as the sprues are colored plastic, as well as some transparent bits for the lenses.
Too bad all of this will soon be covered in black primer…

Assembling the kit and a little bit of research
We start with assembly. I wouldn’t go over the details as it is a fairly simple kit which can be built in less than an hour (as their tagline suggest).
I will be building the Baskyrotto. I like it’s square stunty profile, reminds me of the comparatively tiny Soviet tanks of the Cold War. Decided on it because of the fairly large surface area as the decals I got are meant for larger models.
I will be using the Bulgaria Air Force’s roundel and insignia because in my experience mecha are somewhere in-between all branches of the military and the our air force’s roundel is probably the most recognizable and striking purely in model terms.
