About the Project
I decided as a white man it was my duty to create a podcast because it's very important that people hear what I have to say. Or. I just felt like it and thought it would be abit of craic.

The first episode was a test to see if I could technically create this. I have no experience with any sort of recording or audio engineering but I am a firm believer in learning by doing.
A few podcasters I listen to use Acast and they seemed like a good choice between the few others I checked. I created the account. And when they did it provided this FAQ link which I found helpful.
I was playing about with names and someone smarter than me came up with roleplay parley which kinda rhymes and gave me ideas for a logos, images and a general theme. So, after that was done I picked a program to record with.
Acast do provide a way to record via their website but I like to do with audacity. Its a free program and I’ve used it very basically to play about with phone messages in work. It seemed simple enough and there are loads of tutorials out there to learn how it worked. Once I got that sorted out, I picked up a microphone and began to ramble.
After roughly five takes cringing to death from the “norn iron” accent and excessive use of “Um” I decided to write a intro. This helped alot. Once I got an intro set up I could begin to talk more naturally and it gave some structure. I wrote myself down basic structure for an episode and recorded it, listening back, deleting, retrying and moving sections as needed. It took a few days as i somewhat scrapped everything. but I think it was worth it.
Next thing was I had an idea for a logo. Looked up a few things here and there and tried my hand with photoshop. The logo looked godawful. Genuinely terrible stuff. So I decided that it was better left to someone else and came across the website Canva. It gives you a free logo creation with a couple of keywords and I came up with the logo I am using. It looks pretty good (just don’t look too hard).
Just like that I had created a thing. I might even do more of it.
Why Though?
So I’ve been running RPGs for a load of years now and decided to try writing something. I tried my hand at it before with a DnD scenario but it didn’t grab me and I lost interest fairly quickly. Then came the Onyx Path Game Jam, it was the perfect excuse to do something and I’ve always liked their game line Scion.
I figured it was a good a chance as any, I went to drivethruRPG and grabbed the templates and art packs and put together an idea I had which turned into the Trickster’s Guide to Ascension. Which you can find here. It’s completely free unless you want to pay for it.
It won the judges choice award for the Game Jam, and I was dead proud. So I figured I’d give this a go. The Podcast is an excuse for me to natter on about RPGs for a bit. Maybe some folks might wanna listen
