About the Project
A Blood Bowl league has started at my gaming group. We're going to play with the new Season 3 rules. I have never had a team before so I went for a team that looked fun to paint. Hopefully playing from January. I can play with unpainted minis, but prefer not to.

Ethel and Ethelred.
I found it funny that we have a female lineman on each sprue, but that they don't get a beer in their hand like the fellas. They still naturally have the drunkard rules like the rest.
The shock of platted white hair made me think of my rugby days when every opposition side that had a grey haired crazy player. All elbows and anger. Fallen from grace as age stole their pace and now vengeful of the youthful.
This model seemed less adaptable than the others so the pose for Ethelred will be near identical but for a different head option. So Ethelred will have ginger hair and blood on the metal spiked fist instead. This should make them nice and distinctive. Ethelred will be called so, because she plays much like Ethel but has red hair. At the forming of my first squad she still had a summer to go before she was seasoned enough to play, so she was Ethelred the Unready.Beyond the box - Yhetee
I looked at the GW Yhetee model and the GW Yhetee star player and I didn't particularly like either model. I searched online and found this 3D print mini from Brutefun Miniatures. Looking forward to getting him. Don't feel my team desperately needs a Yeti, but it's nice to have the option.
The pitch seems designed for 32mm bases so went for that. Decided to add some weight with metal puddle base bits to make it more stable. Pretty stable already, but more weight won't hurt..
Gutted. Got him almost 98% painted and dropped him quite badly. Snapped his left arm off (but looks to have glued back on neatly) and lost his front left top canine tooth.
He was toppling over in my hand as I painted him, did a massive over correction for some reason, made it far worse than an original topple would probably have been and was sent violently to the floor. A fly on the wall would probably have wondered why I spent hours painting it so studiously only to dash it full strength into the kitchen floor at 1030 in the morning. Lol. To replace the tooth a fine shard of metal from a puddle base seems to be the favourite. May go blind doing the 28mm dentistry though.Raider Linemen
These will turn out far more grim than the average Blood Bowl team. I just feel that these Norsemen aught to be far more "just got done pillaging" rather than "Minnesota Viking mascots".
Haven't gone mad with the blood. Figure I might end up playing my young nephews and don't need that much guts and gore.Game night.
Me and my mate Theo in the foreground here getting to grips with the rules and rolling some dice. Taking things very seriously (glasses on top of head, sure sign I am focused on writing of some kind)
Made some fun stat cards for my minis ... But have realised once playing that I am much better off with a list. Individual cards just got in the way.
But after some amazing dodge rolls a catcher got free of my defensive line. Even with the best of efforts to disrupt a passing lane the elves threw a pass and they skipped into the end zone to make it 1 - nil.
After putting some of the elf team into the KO casualty pen we made a mad dash and Freya scored to make it 1 all.
Sadly for the Elves they ran out of rerolls at a key moment, pushed their luck once too often and stumbled and fumbled the ball. After a counter attack from the Norse saw a mistake and dropped ball of their own there was a life line for the Elves. Sadly they ran out of rounds to play and a pass went wrong and the Norse came out narrow winners. Loved playing the game. Not just for the win, but the drama and the good company.Last minute fixture - WiP
I was told on Friday that I could get a training game on Monday night. So I began a weekend long effort to paint up 6 minis to at least have a full team of 11 painted.
I began to name my characters and consider list building options. The look at list building was more to hone down which 6 minis to prioritise and paint first.
I didn't manage to base my minis, but I did get the 6 minis to a relatively good level. Most of them just require a bit more TLC. Some armour trim in bronze / gold and blood spatter and mud, some skin tone care and straps painted.
