Command Support

Painted up some command support to aid this guard company in its heroic actions against the greenskin foes.

Ive always liked this psyker model and have always wondered if the headache is fr the power of the warp or the constant preaching of the local commissar. Either way he fits my image of a dishevelled guard psyker basically being used as a weapon and barely tolerated as a member of the company.

The commissar is another favourite but let’s be honest all the commissar models are top notch. Again im not sure how much use the power fist is ever going to get but it was fun to paint up. If im honest I still need to paint a little more of this one and tidy him up but he is passable for now.

Veteran Squad

These are my 10 veterans, they’re from the newer guard kit so have a bit more character in them. The hair on a few aren’t yet done, I was thinking of making them quite brightly coloured but haven’t quite settled on that yet as it would draw attention away from the fairly muted other colours. I didn’t really want the focal point of the model to end up being their hair.

Platoon command

I used to love these command figures when they first came out, so one definitely had to be in the army.

Not quite sure how practical the power fist will be on a squishy human but it looks cool so thats going in the army.

I gave his squad some veteran looking support and there is also a platoon standard as well but I’ve yet to paint that up so no picture at the moment.

I have a few power swords I need to work on, across my collection, now I’ve painted one that im happy with I can start copying this across my other ones.

The forward scout party

Ive always love sentinels, these are just two that I had unpainted, one is the older armoured one with metal parts whilst the other is a newer plastic one.

I painted up the pilots before dropping them in and gluing in place so you can see their grumpy faces through the vision suits.

I’ll probably paint up a scout sentinel as well once the infantry are done because sentinels.

Edit: I magnetised the weapons so they have a choice of all the weapons they came with, gives me loads of flexibility when list building.

The humble guardsmen

The idea is to have 4 squads in this platoon led by our heroic lieutenant, 3 squads of normal guardsmen and 1 of veterans.

Each will have a special weapon in, mostly flamer and grenade launcher, trying to lean into the ‘nothing overly special’ element of the company im building.

I happen to have a plasma gunner kicking around and im trying to paint up as much unpainted stuff as possible so in he went.

Kasrkin Reinforcements

I managed to get hold of some Kasrkin and quite liked the poses and the idea of having some hit squads in my force.

Ive been trying to improve my face painting process and starting with a purple base and been really enjoying the results.

Tried more with the sword on this guy as well and again am happy with the results, need to find premixed colours to make it more consistent and find a better white as the one i had ended up clumping together which for blending purposes was less than ideal.

Other than this guy i’ve got about 15 more painted up and i am thoroughly fed up with painting white.

Next up i’m painting the ecclesiarchy, going for the red and white classic look.
