About the Project

For years... since X-Wing first came out... I have been meaning to build a battle board using a vinyl mat. So it's about time I got around to it. The plan is to make it multi-purpose as it's a 3x3 mat which is common in skirmish games.

Bought some plywood from a local hardware store. 48 inches by 39 inches.

The X-Wing mat is 39 inches square with a 36 square play area.

Gathered some scrap wood from earlier projects and cut it to size.

Found some offcuts of felt to use for the ends of the table where cards and tokens with be played.

Laid out the mat and wood surround to get an idea of how it will look.

The felt is long enough and I will secure that under the surround and wrap it over the end where I plan affix more wood underneath to strengthen it.

I have Carnevale cardboard tiles and some TT Combat Tiles that I can drop into the 3×3 area when I want to play that. Also have several 3×3 battle mats of different terrain for other games.
