Deathwatch Collector’s Edition Un-Boxed
August 26, 2010 by lloyd
Anton Torres from Fantasy Flight Games un-boxes a production sample of the Deathwatch Collector's Edition.
Some of you guys may have seen this a Gen Con 2010 and now is your chance to get your hands on this very cool collectors item.
They say it's available for pre-order at www.fantasyflightgames.com, but I think there website hasn't been updated yet so here's two links I found:
http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=133&enmi=Deathwatch%20Collectors%20Edition
http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite_sec.asp?eidm=133&esem=2
Also if your not in the mood to brake the bank I have added a link to the Pre Order for the regular version of Death Watch from Wayland Games.

That is a beautiful collectors piece, hands down one of the best limited editions i have ever seen
I am a huge fan of collectors editions for any product but this to me does seem to be taking things a wee bit too far. $200 for something which you really would never want to use is rather over the top for the collectors edition of a book.
While I’m not a huge fan of the design of the case itself, it’s too cluttered for me, I guess that’s the style Games Workshop have moved into with much of their imperial stuff as opposed to the more militaristic simplicity with a slight edge of religious extravagance. The actual quality of the case seems to be very nice though, the key is a great touch.
The inside is let down slightly by them choosing to use velcro on the strap to hold the book in place, even a wee brass popper would have been more in keeping with the style and effort put into everything else.
The book does look very nice, and I think if it was avaliable on it’s own just with the black leather cover, silver lettering and quality paper for just a wee bit more than the price of the standard edition, an extra $15-20, that would be something which would sell very well indeed.
I’m not a huge fan of the Deathwatch game itself as I’m more of a fan of the Dark Heresy and old Warhammer Fantasy RP style low level roleplaying as opposed to being an unstoppable elite killing machine, but I know there is a large part of the role playing world focused on playing powerful characters, just look at DnD.
It does make me a little sad that the 3rd Edition Warhammer RP broke away from the “book, pen and paper” style of game as a collectors edition like this for a game like 2nd edition Warhammer RP would certainly have been something I might have considered destroying my bank balance for…on the other hand perhaps I should be thankful they didn’t put me in that position.
shiny
It looks cool but wouldn’t want to damage my other books with it
Would you keep it in its own seperate shrine or something?
Not a dilemma I will ever have to face not having $200 in spare change lol
That’s dead sexy that is.
FFG do it again at 200 quid, and have you seen what they charge to ship to EU ? its like 60 or something, christ MWG will send stuff for about a fiver 😛
But I’d still love that edition 😀
it’s beutiful….. i really want one
and you could certainnlykill someone with it =)
in one word: awesome
That is sweet as hell, but it is just something that I can’t see my self spending $200 on (if it was for Grey Knights (crosses fingers for a GK rpg with that kinda book) then hell yes.
O kurwa!
Is this available in Europe? Damn! And I thought it was hard enough to decide whether to buy a PS3 or an X-box 360 :/ Hope I get a scholarship at the Uni… 😉
It looks great! If your someone who enjoys collecting these versions of rulebooks from GW then the cost is secondary. As nice as it looks I’m a bit more practical of a gamer and don’t want to lug that around with me or have to buy a regular rulebook in addition to this one. I think it would make some cool looking terrain lol.
wow, thats one beautiful Collector edition, i want 1, but its so expensive…
Wow, that is nice. I totally need to get this ^_^
And I will 😀
First Thought: MUST BUY
Second Thought: $200….
Third Thought: Shall not buy.
I shelled out for the Rockethammer collector’s edition, but $200? Granted, it’s got more shiny than the RH book. Righteous looking product, the customization is neato, just not $200 neato.
Thats shiny
coool =)
