Has anyone got a good way to paint animal horns, especially horns for blowing with or drinking out of?
I never can get a result that I am happy with
So dead horn cut off from the animal. Biggest difference I see it that “dead” horn (especially for drinking) tends to be black at the drinking end. Or at least a very dark brown. Unless of course it’s highly polished but I guess you’re more after an “every day use” item look then some holy goblet.
Cheers there and good poor about the live and dead horn
Thanks there @orinoco
It’s probably best if you sedate them first, many animals don’t take kindly to being painted
They did kick a fuss like crazy
There are a lot of different types of horns and antlers you could use as a reference. Pick something that is textures or isn’t based on how large the area is and how much you need it to be interesting.
Dark on one end and light on the other with texture lines running the length of the horn is a good way to go.
