Little squads, big gains
I was gifted a Warcry human hunter warband. They were a little fiddly to build but extremely quick to build. I’m still playing a bit of Warcry but these guys are going to be usable in Mordheim too.
K47 test scheme
So I had some K47 models power armoured Germans gathering dust (not Dust 1947). I thought I’d try a few test colour schemes. This is scheme 1. !st ed K47 still had the SS but that seems to have vanished (thankfully), but I do find the red, white and black combo eye catching. I don’t want a swastica but the SS runes may be worse. I don’t like the SS runes and may try a teutonic cross?
Just in time to help save the 500 Worlds of Ultrmar!
So the gaming club I belong to the ‘Company of Dice’ had a gaming day where some of the club decided to play Warhammer 40K 2nd Edition. One of my clubmates asked if I had any 2nd ed stuff. I was pretty sure I did. When I got home I checked and yep, I had everything still on sprue. The miniatures are monopose, ‘durpy’, have soft detail and other failings but the nostalgia was real.
Basically I used them as a palet cleanser inbetween painting Epic kninghts and Titans and if you look in the previous project entry you can see them in various stages of painting scattered around the table. I’ll have to get some Ultramarine transfers and make a couple of banners for the serjeants but they are otherwise done.
I’ve also got a metal command unit, 5 terminators, a dreadnought, a predator tank and assault squad all in very beaten up Ultramarine colours. I’ll fix them up and repaint the chipped bits. More to come once the Titans are done.
Something titanic!
So I played Adeptus Titanicus (newest version) and it is great. The game really gives you the feeling of piloting titans.
I started but paimting knights because I’d never paimted any titans before. Basically they are large Space Marines (flat panels etc). And then I went bigger. Base colours are done. So far, so good.
Mechanised Trench Warriors
I finished the 3 final models of my New Antioch Trench Crusade warband. 3 Mechanised warriors.
More trenches and more crusading
So I’ve continued paintaing this mix of colours/uniforms and whilst it’s largely inconsistant, I quite like it. I’ve just started the big guys and they have been fun to paint. I love the ‘wet’ chest flesh on the giant sniper and the giant teutonic gunner is showing potenial even at the base paint stage
In the trenches
Recently lads from my gaming group played a demo of Trench Crusade and I was invited to watch.
The game was fast and intuitive and within 2 turns I was able to follow and understand everything despite never having read the rules.
At the end of the game I was generously given a 3D printed warband from ‘New Antioch’. I’ll be honest, I almost refused to take them. I need more unpainted miniatures like I need another hole in the head.
Despite having Samurai heroes to paint, I decided to paint a couple of test colour schemes. Anyway, 3 days later and about a dozen miniatures later……
Killing it
So the first weekend of the month (April) is games night Friday, club day Saturday and RPG Sunday. I’ll be knackered on Monday but it will be worthit.
Table 1 tonight ‘the Grandsons’ (Plague Marines) are fighting ‘the Blooded’ (Traitor Guardsmen).
On table 2 ‘the Brood’ (Genestealer cultists) are taking on ‘the Gellapox Infected’ (nurgle infected ships crewmen).
Let the games begin!
