Ben loves his fantasy games and nothing would but he would get to take a little time out of the day to get a catchup and some info on what's going to be happening with our winner of game of the year for 2015.

Also you could win a copy of the new book Horizon Wars.

Horizon Wars looks fantastic!

thehamm3r

Cool to see more plastic kits are coming, the last two were great.

tommahawk

This new game looks great

vorganov

Frostgrave is pretty cool and even though I have some objections I love the game very much. As I have now about 6 games from Osprey I am in for Horizon Wars as well.

phoen31

I really would like to check out frostgrave it looks like a ton of fun. Go ben for keeping an eye on the fantasy games!

cwsmythe

I must know more. Horizon wars could be super cool, and Frostgrave enjoys a special place on my gaming shelf.

witteridderludo

frostrave, horizon wars… all good and well, but what’s viking santa doing on that banner???

astralwraith

looking forward to horizon wars – used to play old gw “epic” so it’ll give me an excuse to drag those minis back out

xaussienannh

I have never played Frostgrave, but I wouldnt mind giving it a go. Just need to find some people to play with here in WA (and not do shift work)

nogginthenog

Frostgrave has been a real surprise to me. I can’t recall a new game gaining traction through word of mouth as quickly as this seems to have done.

sasquatch1

Frostgrave looks awesome, and is something I definitely want to check out.

wychwood

I keep meaning to try out Frostgrave, I guess I’ll just have to give in and get a copy.

shimond

Frostgrave, well deserved success and lot of nice supplements also. This horizon wars looks promising, but it’s for 10-15mm?

precinctomega

It’s designed for 2-10mm. However, people are insisting on playing it up to 15mm, and some even with 28mm minis. I always felt it was too abstract at that scale but, if you don’t mind it being abstract, then the abstractness means it actually works perfectly well at any scale.

laager50

Looking forward to the new game

carlos1170

I have been looking at Frostgrave for some time now. Looks interesting. Horizon Wars looks interesting. Hope the art is good.

precinctomega

The art is amazing. This guys did the illustrations:

http://jessada-art.deviantart.com/

switch1984

frostgrave has done epicly for only being 9 months old, i want to convert some D&D players to play tabletop aswell and i think frostgrave is the way to go.
the new game sounds interesting and looks pretty cool in the pics.

eddieharr

very cool stuff coming for frostgrave

ckbrenneke

Horizon Wars has piqued my interest, and I’m not sure why as I don’t play 6-10mm. I do however have a bunch of 10mm Pendraken Colonial Marines that are yet to see use, so might be the system to try them with.

chambersofminiatures

Front Grave is a fun game to play.

gimli2006

Frostgrave is great but Horizon wars looks epic.

precinctomega

Was that a pun?

carlosfandango

Osprey seems to be a reasonably prolific company. More power to them. Frostrgrave gets regular play round my way at present.

alaskalee

The 1 Place is really deserved… awesome game even if I miss leveling up my barbarian(he’s so good :D)

reiton

Argh I had totally forgotten about Horizon wars.. it looks so cool. And still havent tried frostgrave;/

johankal

There´s much goodness coming from Osprey atm. I like it!

fomorian

Really cool stuff there and Horizon Wars reminds me a bit of Epic 40.000. Would be nice to dive into a new Rule System with such kind of miniatures scale :).

darren2961

played my first game of frostgrave last week and was impressed so will watch horizon wars with interest

halcyondayz

Hooray, more stuff for Frostgrave in the pipeline. 🙂

chrisg

Do you know sometimes my close friends and I think we should write some rules then again we think why bother everything is covered and low again we see Horizon wars coming out great, no I do mean great more rules that look zip super.

groovicron

Stay frosty people!

janus1004

Looking good, I am following Osprey Games much more closely these days.

staxer

AWESOME

itchardpirate

Getting Frostgrave up and running has been great fun – and still more to do!

donlou

I need to get my hands on some gnolls

tornquistd

frost grave is looking very interesting

redsarge

I’m glad that Knolls aren’t really that big, yikes! Very nice 3ups though.

bergen

Do they have miniatures for Horizon Wars ?

precinctomega

Nope. Any SF range should fit the game to some extent.

machinegod

Love the setting!….Looking to more of this game in the near future!

nosbigdamus

Grate stuff, just getting into it. Very nice. Well done.

machinedogg

Frostgrave is Tabletop Gamings true sleeper hit. It’s made such a big impact for a game from an otherwise unknown background. I know it’s being picked up more and more by players now it’s getting some exposure, won’t be long until I have to get a band together and give it a go.

panzertanker64

Really like frost grave , I have a signed copy lol .

blish

Yes! Osprey are taking over!

linuxnavigator

This is a cool game.

lewlowned

I like the look of that!

dorrance

Love Frostgrave, fast as i like, perfect to build up a team of heros with my miniatures…
well done.

noserenda

Got Frostgrave in the post, almost ordered Horizon wars alongside tbh 😀

precinctomega

“Almost”? I am disappoint.

reddwarf

Frostgrave is a great game kicking off big time at our club

darkurth2000

Well I know Frostgrave is quite popular in my gaming club and I was just looking into maybe getting Horizon Wars and Konflikt ’47. Maybe I’ll hold back for a few days just in case I have the wonderful occasion to win one of these fantastic games…..then I’ll buy the other….lol

antiphony

Frostgrave looks like a ton of fun, barbarians v’s gnolls v’s wizards + treasure. Who’s not up for that!

bluntpower

I love frostgrave. Thank you for all the coverage this weekend!

kaoswarrior

Have to say – The Gnolls of Frostgrave have really hooked me!! will most assuredly be getting a couple of boxes!!

ravingmad8

I Frostgrave is becoming our groups goto fantasy skirmish game. Its fun and fast with the ability to run ongoing campaigns.

peacefulwarrior

I need to start playing Frostgrave

battlehawk

Saw the plastic kits today and they look great.

barretem30

I love frostgrave but I’m really interested in Horizon wars. From what I have read on the writers blog it sounds like its going to be alot of fun.

somegeezer

Joe the mastermind behind Frostgrave. What does it feel like to have a game go absolutely ballistic like that? Congrats, man. Massive congrats!

chaosanderson

The gnolls look great

fastpanda01

I love frostgrave, looking forward to the Knolls.

lordbob

I’d like to know more about horizon wars. What scale is it? Are there miniatures specifically for this game?

precinctomega

It’s 2-10mm in the mind of its designer (me), but there are people already running it in 15mm and even 28mm. I think it’s too abstract at that scale, but YMMV. As you may have guessed, there are no “official” miniatures. The game is designed to fit any range of SF product in the scale of your choice.

hatamoto

A most excellent game system

dicktana

Have’nt seen much on Horizon Wars, but I will be looking into it.

ugleb

Horizon Wars is interesting, curious to see how it adapts to different scales of models.

mkultra99

really want to give horizon wars a try in 15mm.. should work, right?

precinctomega

Others tell me it does. It’s not what I designed it for, though, so if it’s not to your taste at that scale, don’t blame me.

leonjong

Frost grave sounds really good and the fact that they don’t care which miniatures you use means that everybody can have a crack

dervan

I have been enjoying Frostgrave but I need to play it more often

marcnelsonjr

After years of scoffing at plastic elves, Frostgrave is the game that finally got me into miniatures. 🙂

Horizon Wars looks neat – I’m interested to try out the cancelling D12 combat!

duster

Played my first game of Frostgrave last weekend: loved it! Wish i picked it up when it came out!
Wow, those gnolls look nasty, can’t wait to pick up a box!

nukemechanic

I have been meaning to try out Frostgrave. I think the Gnolls are going to get me to commit to giving it a go.

cruciumgiger

Looks intriguing

constrict

Have too check this one up!

psyche

So hard to believe this game only launched 9 months ago. It’s become massive.

eion755

Loving frostgrave & Horizon Wars looks fantastic!

wolf320f

Awesome stuff

deadmanwalking

Frostgrave has been an outstanding success. I’m sure Horizon Wars will be also

edfortune

Looking Great!

jinxx71

i have bought everything so far!

psychoticstorm

Nice to see Robey’s wargame finally getting the treatment it really is worth it.

You should look for his podcasts (sadly he stopped doing them) about game design at Precinctomega podcast to get some insight on his design decisions.

precinctomega

I’m trying really hard to make time to do more. Increasingly, I find that when I organize my thoughts, now, it ends up just me justifying why I’ve done things in certain ways! My blog is still active, though, at http://precinctomega.co.uk/wp

sathrin

Frostgrave selling out at the con so quickly, it’s not surprising but astounding at the same time.
Now Gnolls! I love gnolls. I’ve got a heap of Reaper gnolls, they’re fun. Got to get my hands on those

smashskull

nice

blackspiral

Loot! Who doesn’t want loot?
Very interested in Horizon Wars… seems like a unique idea.

ahren78

That looks good.

outriderhobbies

Very excited for Horizon Wars.

mliguori

I’m really interested to see how they work aircraft into the Horizon Wars. Osprey in general has been really putting out some great stuff lately.

cheezfriend

Frostgrave is a brilliant system and something I am glad I have invested my time in!

rayzryr

Frostgrave is one that I will definitely be trying out when I have dedicated gaming space.

mischief

I did think that Horizon Wars was just going to be another skirmish game, but I just checked it out on the Osprey site, and it’s a 6mm Company level game. That’s awesome, but might put it in direct competition with the Halo game, I might just get both.

precinctomega

Having looked at the Halo game at Salute, I can happily say they are not in competition. Very different feels and mechanics. But I can see people buying the Halo stuff and then running the minis in games of Horizon Wars, so to that extent they should be complementary.

grodd1016

Frostgrave is great, I just wish I could get more people by me to play it.

dnr0d

mmmm…more Frostgrave, please.

grandmarshal

Looking forward to Horizon Wars! Will have to wait till it’s in stock on one of the online retailers I regularly shop.

anubis06

looking forward to new Frostgrave supplements and minis

comegetsome

Frostgrave = Super Fantastic!

richardd

Frostgrave is a cracker of a game, but Horizon wars looks brilliant for my MWDA stuff- can’t wait!!!

drummer

I play frostgrave every week. Have 3 warbands already. Love the game!

berger83

I think frostgrave and horizon have great potential it will be great to see we’re this games go.

onebitpixel

I’ll bite; haven’t gotten into the smaller format game systems so this would be a first.

jodain

Only played one game of Frostgrave so far and it was a great run.

paintingdeamon

Frostgrave is a super game guys Well done

fireblarney

Horizon Wars sounds interesting, but keep bringing the Frostgrave expansions out 🙂

mikeyboy403

I love frostgrave and it is awesome that it won game of the year. Hopefully it could win expansion of the year this year, as into the breading pits sounds fantastic

ghostbear

Horizon Wars would work wonderfully with my Battletech minis! Awww yiissss…

sunabe

Horizon sounds interesting

mark balkham-smith

Wife wants us to “dip a toe” into Frostgrave, luckily it’s a small model count, cos it will be me assembling and painting!

durin

Never heard of horizon wars… but sounds interesting

richdean

As soon as I have painted a bit more of my existing stuff I will be looking into this game

qmpsjj

Still need to give this game a go. It is being played in japan so should be able to find some games.

darkspi

more I here about frostgrave more it sound like a game I should get in to

enie

late to the party but i just bought my copy of Frostgrave .

panzerkaput

Frostgrave is stuff a wonderful game

ijontichy

Hmmm, a mecha game. Coold be really cool.

abyssalyogsothoth

Frostgrave is a lot of fun, and it is great to see all of the new stuff coming out for it. I am really looking forward to Horizon Wars, as well.

zeker1966

Frostgrave is awesome and deserved to win miniatures game of the year. The new Horizon wars sounds very interesting. I should have picked it up.

timetraveller

Frostgrave looks like an awesome fantasy game but I’ve been a sci-fi guy so looking forward to Horizon Wars.

tmon

Horizon Wars does look a little different.

ehrlen

I think Frostgrave is one of the more refreshing games out there, a fun combination between wargames and role playing games.

pepsidan

Dam finally plastic knolls this game may make a convert instead of D&D all of the time.

jmrecoil

Frost grave is fantastic. I will be purchasing every supplement. New game, I’m a gamer I would love to try it. Bring it on.

lunchbox

Looks interesting. Worth taking a look at.

multifish

Spent the first hour and half playing Frostgrave at Salute. Seems like a great system with lots of interest and scope.

dougiemonster

I love 6mm sci-fi so Horizon Wars has been on my radar for a while. Didn’t realise it was due for release so soon though. Gonna have to get me a copy!

battlehawk

Definitely a game I want to get into.

naff101

Looking forward to Horizon Wars

attilla13

Horizon Wars – wow. and Frostgrave is awesome!

ergosphere

Really looking forward to trying out Horizon Wars!

dizzy

I really hope we’ll see a sci-fi version of frostgrave down the road. I just can get into fantasy for more then a week or two… 🙁

fox40

Got to love frostgrave

zarg1

Lets hope its as good as frostgrave.

cybermonkey

Got to comment for a chance to win this for a friend. He’s desperate for this game.

shingen

Frostgrave is my winner in any category for last year.

benmoor

Frostgrave has done really well, and I’m keen to try Horizon Wars too! I’ve just got a load of 6mm sci fi figures which’d be ideal for this.

huscarle

Frostgrave release schedule is great. It keeps the game fresh without breakingthe game or my wallet. Barbarians from the North sounds good

madredsquirrel

Frostgrave was up for so many awards again and for good reason great stuff really

hairybrains

Loving Frostgrave and Knolls look great

lblunchboxlb

Frostgrave is on the top of my list of new games to try out.

spacewolflord

I am a sucker for SCI FI war games and a chance to get a free rule book on a new one is nice.

xionxxen

Cool looking game.

clawlessdragon

Another great game, can’t wait

tomrr

frostgrave is great – and I am interested to see how Horizons plays…

relmbob

Horizon Wars sounds interesting. The gnoll kit for Frostgrave should be great. Wonder if we can have gnoll soldiers.

orku

im a huge battletech 6mm fan, but rules so outdated. i think best a to go is new horizon wars.

warlockalex

oh no, forgot to check out horizon wars at Salute :/

precinctomega

I’m now planning my event schedule for the next 12-18 months. What’s your local event? Perhaps I’ll be there running games and you can come and try it out.

krelldoom

Horizon looks Fab !!!

theticky

looks great

gideon7v20

Frostgrave is an excellent gamer. Even if you lose a single game there are still things to be gained for your warband and wizard. The constant stream of expansions at a reasonable rate keeps it exciting also.

leftonistvaan

Interested in Frostgrave and new plastics and supplements, although not so sure about Horizon Wars, will see how it goes.

earlburden

Frost grave has to be the best game on the market right now. Really keen to see how this new sci fi game combines the different elements.

bristolpirate

Note to self – must try Frostgrave, it looks like an interesting alternative to Mordheim.

rastamann

I’ve been meaning to get into Frostgrave, but Horizon Wars, that one get’s me totally excited!!!

ntrabbit

Heard lots of good things about Horizon Wars

brand

Very much looking forward to the Breeding Pits expansion. The gnolls look cool, and it’ll be interesting to see if they introduce any twists for the underground environment. Also, if there are gnolls down there, then there are probably all sorts of other fun critters (even if that just means using stats for gnolls or other creatures for some of my monster minis).

macadams00

Horizon Wars sounds like a BBC spin off.

papaule

Oh, new frostgrave supplements on the way! Must have. I will have to check out horizon wars soon.

jamesg

My group has gone crazy for Frostgrave recently, so much fun.

dugthefug1644

I must look into Frostgrave more closely. Just got into dungeon saga so fantasy gaming is back on my gaming menu for the first time since warhammer and hero quest in my teens. I like the terrain inspired around the spells. Walls of stone, ice, water and fire to block line of sight. Muddy quick sand swamps appear to hamper movement. Hope they go from strength to strength.

johnsharman

Horizon Wars seems to present a real interesting challenge coping with combined ops. Cannot wait to give it a go.

tcjones96

loooks intresting

spagildaddy

Can’t wait for the knolls plastic kit in July!

jenzee

I’ve played many enjoyable Frostgrave battles since the release. Looking forward to Horizon wars !

bigbadbazz

hw looks worth a look

gwtharg

More frostgrave cool stuff always.

byakhee

Is there something about Frostgrave on Beasts of War?

gypsybreath

oooh i do like a bit of Frostgrave! looking forward to horizon wars – could be very interesting!

jackdanielsimow

Wanted a good look at Frostgrave but the demo game took an age to get started once all the obscurities of the scenario had been explained. I liked the demo format of Dark Souls and Tanks! especially, multiple tables, quick play, a real quick taster intro.

radegast6

what is scale for Horisont?

precinctomega

I wrote it for anything between 2mm and 10mm, but people are playing it at 15mm and even 28mm. It’s a bit abstract for my taste at the larger scales, but it works perfectly well precisely because it’s a very abstract system.

nighthaunter666

haven’t played frostgrave, but i do love the plastic kits coming out, especially the cultists. they will be going in my KoW army.

gambit505

Got the rulebook and picked up a bunch of models for my warband at Salute 😀

otakugirl

Yay, Frostgrave!

baranora

Frostgrave is lovely!

harald0skald

Frostgrave sounds fun!

eddator227

To many Games on the queue, frost grave seems cool to damm

bigkev

Frostgrave well deserved bow game of the year

hargarpad

It’s just wow!

szilona

So cool!

scrapspoxx

Have read the rulebook and it looks like a really simple nice game. Have to introduce my girlfriend to this

nosebiter

Smaller scale gaming has peaked my interest

danlee

I think I will really have to get myself to Salute next year!

cabaltrainee

Looks great!

jamjarst

So many games so little time.

trewets

Got into frostgrave this year and have the other half hooked too so win win on that front, can do no wrong if it is for frostgrave. Thanks Osprey!

bucketknight

I’m eager to learn more about Horizon Wars. What scale is it meant to be played in?
It sounds a bit like it could be DZC with another scope.

torros

You can play it in any scale you want

precinctomega

I *wrote* it for 2-10mm scales. The rules are deliberately abstracted, though, so they work perfectly well at any scale. It really just depends on where your mental cut-off lies for rules abstractions.

torros

Hi

I have been looking at playtests and anything else I can find out about the rules. Everything I have seen so far shows Titan type vehicles and a few tanks.what are the rules like for combined arms.

It does look interesting but not really interested in large fighting machines fighting it out against each other

precinctomega

Well obviously, i think the combined arms rules are great! Seriously, though, i even reference the fact that stompy robot tanks are a bit silly in the rulebook. So the game is supposed to be perfectly workable if you just want proper, sensible, hard SF armies.

warfield

I’m curious about this!

someprick

looks good

saiyanchris

Can’t wait to play HW! I have all these minis stuck inside a box. Now I’ll have a game I can use them all together with. Oh, the possibilities!!

yuusha

Good interview. Thanks!

warbossd

congrats on the win. well deserved.

grantsensei

I’m perhaps the only hobbyist who hasn’t tried this yet. I love the plastic kits, looking forward to the gnolls and dungeon rules.

dathar

I just bought a handful of Frostgrave books…. I have a bunch of old Mordheim parts I will be using to make generic soldiers…. Really excited to try and get my gaming group back into skirmish games.

lordtothe

What’s this? Someone is trying to crate a balanced, tactically-deep sci-fi game? And not trying to price-gouge us with absurdly-expensive models?

precinctomega

Iknorite??

felfeni

I’m curious about Frostgrave!

avien

must take a closer look at frostgrave

megsmith

Frostgrave is cool!

angelicdespot

I’m not generally very interested in generic rules sets (even though I am interested in rules that can be used in other games), so I think knowing what the Horizon Wars setting is will be key to me deciding whether to look at the game.

precinctomega

I did an extensive interview with Neil Shuck and friends at the Meeples & Miniatures podcast in which I covered the setting: http://www.meeplesandminiatures.co.uk/

I also did an interview with Joe for the Osprey Games YouTube channel in which I talk about the setting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcY-xDw2vYY

Short version, the book contains a setting stretched across several hundred years, starting with a classic “world war” near future setting, followed by a “war as reality TV” setting, moving on to a post-apocalyptic conquest setting and finishing with an over-the-horizon anything-goes space opera setting.

agashamirv

Played our first game, really liked it.

kadmon

Sounds cool! I’m interested in the new ideas!

jakab

This looks like an excellent game!

harigeri

This totally rox!

comoran

This seems to be a nice game!
