Mythic Games’ Az talks us through some of the next steps that have been taken with the development and production of Solomon Kane.

Currently, Solomon Kane is moving towards the end of their Late Backer stage and with that in mind they’ve also been talking to more and more companies about the quality of sculpts that they want to bring to life as part of the game.

Considering how evocative the world of Solomon Kane is it makes sense that Mythic would make sure that the miniatures are up to the same quality as the storytelling.

The team from Hexy have a lot of irons in the fire but one of their awesome focal points is towards the creation of a lot of terrain which can be used for role-playing games and miniature wargames.

Deep-Cut Studio has been working with some awesome companies of late from Steamforged Games and their Guild Ball mats to Osprey and some official mats for use with Gaslands!

The team at Deep-Cut also teased that they are going to be working with another BIG company very soon so watch this space.

Artipia Games has been focusing in on two awesome games of late. The first of these is A Thief’s Fortune which has you playing to try and be the best pilferer in the Middle-east.

Twin this with a tower defence style alien game called Project Elite and you really do have a lot of different bases covered with these guys.

We stopped in with Jana from CGE and talked to her about what’s new from them when it comes to games at Essen SPIEL ’18.

As well as Trapwords which sounds awesome we were also talking about Codenames which has been given a big boost in size as well as scope and Adrenaline which gets itself a new ‘DLC’ expansion which adds to the game.

It’s not just cardboard Eevees and Pikachus people are proudly wearing on their heads at Essen. Quite a few stores have some really inventive items of apparel for sale, including some glorious examples of stylish headgear.

We were able to talk to James and Mark about their new collaboration which is totally metal and utterly awesome.

They are working on a game called Roadies Rule which sounds like it’s going to be an awesome cooperative venture where you’re trying to keep the band playing through their craziest set yet.

We are really looking forward to learning more about this one and putting together a perfect playlist to sit down with when we do too!

Sometimes we get drawn in by something which isn’t gaming related and so we talked to Wrebbit about their amazing 3D jigsaw puzzles which have got quite the magical twist to them with the wonderful Harry Potter pieces they have been working on.

We think these are wonderful pieces and we can’t wait to get them home so we can build a few for our studio.

Vetusta Games are a newly formed company who are seeking to revive the card game Shadowfist.

Shadowfist is a collectible card game first released in 1995. It has recently been taken on by Vetusta, who are themselves all players of the game and want to bring it back better than ever. A Kickstarter is on the horizon, so hopefully we will get to delve back into this game of awesome kung fu movie action again soon

The folks from Blue Orange Games talked to Ryan about some of their new and exciting titles which are arriving on shelves.

The first of these is Blue Lagoon followed by Planet which is a big 3D puzzle where you are trying to build up a fascinating globe and match up particular pieces to get the best result.

Meanwhile, their next game The Everrain, which will soon be coming to Kickstarter, takes us to a world of Lovecraftian horror-infused dark fantasy. Waves crash upon your ship as you try to survive with your crew.

Balance and dexterity board games make for light, fun experiences between larger game sessions, or for playing with the family (or after a few beers).

Men At Work looks to be the most promising, and potentially challenging one, in recent years. The challenge builds as your edifice of girders starts to climb, all as your little meeple builders clutch their gear and try not to topple off.

Steamforged Games are doing lots of impressive stuff right now, delving down into their awesome licenced properties and also their own projects as well.

I got to talk with Peter from White Wizard Games and designer of the utterly awesome looking Sorcerer.

The game features a really deep and imaginative backstory which helps to weave an interesting narrative across the tabletop as you set up to play with two, three or four players.

The way that you design and build your deck of cards each time you play is fascinating and it will be fun seeing what kinds of combinations work together well when people are trying this out for themselves.

As well as doing well as a Kickstarter project the game is coming to retail and will feature lots of interesting and very accessible ways to get more content for the game.
