Salute 2015 Live Blog: Friday Set-Up
It's almost time for Salute 2015 to get started but first there's a day of setting up for traders and exhibitors to get ready for Saturdays big show. While it might be a lot of bits and pieces right now this suddenly explodes into a room full of wargaming goodness before the day is out!
Suddenly a massive empty space turns into a den of geeky goodness!
Blogging At This Event:
This Year's Event Hall Is Massive Again
Every time we get to Salute I'm impressed with the sheer size of the event space and this year is no exception. It's going to be a bit of a different layout this year as the hall has been moved further into the building. Anyway I thought I would grab some shots for you guys before it fills up and here they are.
The Team Assembles
We've got quite a big team at Salute this year and for allot of us it will be the first time we meet. I'm really excited Dawn and Gianna have made it all the way from the states for this years show and Grantt and his team have also arrive to run the Assault on Hoth game.
Getting the Media Room Set-Up
We've now set up a hub of internet activity in the Salute venue where we'll be uploading photos, video and more during the days activities tomorrow.
It's a cosy set up with plenty of good access to coke too!
A Quick Look At Vendors Setting Up
As we were walking around, we give you a quick peek at the chaos that is pre-Salute setup by vendors including the likes of Battle Systems, Hawk Wargames, Gripping Beast and Warploque...
Vendors and Gaming Table Galore In Time Lapse
So the hall was opened at 1pm for all the vendors to pile in and get set-up for tomorrows show but every one only has until 4:30pm today to get set-up. Then we all have to leave for the night (probably going to the pub), so we couldn't resist doing a time lapse video of the frantic action.
More Vendors Appear
More vendors are starting to pop up and the stalls begin to evolve into something fancy with miniatures everywhere with the likes of Heresy, Figone, The Dice Shop and Freebooter Miniatures...
4Ground Show Us Their Amazing Tables...
4Ground stopped us to show off what's going to become some of their feature tables for tomorrow and we have to say - they're still impressive!
Assault On Hoth Gaming Table Set-Up
We've been busy setting up our media room and bogging but now it's time to get the Assault On Hoth Gaming Table Set-Up ready for you lot to come ans see and maybe play on tomorrow. Let's see what's happening in this video with Warren and Dawn and check out the pics below.
Setting Up Sends People Crazy!
In all the hustle and bustle of the day we've managed to find some more vendors who are continuing to set up their fancy looking stalls and it makes some people crazy...
The Pace Gets Quicker As the Day Draws to an End of Set UP Day
As the seconds tick off the clock til the vendors have to call it quits on set up day, there is a mad last minute flurry of activity.
Salute 2015 Media Room Tour
Let's take a look at the command centre of Beasts of War at Salute. This is our private suite which we are going to be using to bring you guys coverage all day on Saturday.
End Of Set-Up Day Wrap Up
We wrap things up at the end of set-up for Salute 2015. We hope you're prepared for the big day tomorrow!

I’m at my hotel just waiting for the fun to start.
Just checked in at our hotel. Probably gonna head out for some food and a mooch around before heading to the customs house later. Don’t work too hard boys.
is it easy to find I couldn’t find it on google maps.
If you’re at the ExCel Tube Station you can see it from the station @radegast6 🙂
im, on way to London to see you at pub guys!
Red 5 standing by! (at the O2) See you folks later!
I’m in Hertfordshire, but very much with you all in ‘spirit’, pun intended! Best Wishes for another successful convention guys. ; )
Is Sam not blogging too or have you left him back in Ireland to hold the fort?
Yarmouth boy coming down on the day… maybe even pie & mash before training home….
Finishing the last rehearsals for the Anzac Day ceremony in Kalgoorlie, West Australia. Hope you have a good run at Salute guys!
The table you guys built looks brill, have a fab show, just wish I was there!
Sooooo jealous! Thanks so much to Warren, Lloyd, Gianna, and Dawn for this and upcoming content – for the benefit of we wretched unfortunate masses left to make the most of this “normal” weekend!
Have a great time, guys! 😀
… and Justin is blogging to 😉
Cant be at Salute, so looking forward to following it through your eyes… Perhaps another year 🙂
Still at work. I’ll be there tomorrow. I can’t wait
It was my first Salute last year and I was staggered by the scale of it all, had the best time and am ridiculously excited for my journey down tomorrow. Meeting up with My Wife’s brother in law and his son, it will be hist first Wargaming show and he’s mega excited (10 years old).
Wish I could be there but it isn’t going to happen, luckily we have you chaps on the scene 🙂
Early start for me.Will be on a train tomorrow at 5.40am from Bournemouth. Can’t wait
Set up our demo and off to pub…
Looks like fun!
Have a really great time and enjoy the show big time that way we get to see it in big time action and enthusiasm too. Great so far ace setup for your suite as well. Just have a good time is all.
Take care and stay safe.
Jealous already big time, but I am told I might be able to make next years show.
Victoria and Chris Goddard.
Looks great, see you there!
I wish I was going this year, everything looks great and keep the live blogging going so I can get my fix while I’m at the zoo tomorrow.
Very useful avatars there stvitusdancern, Dignity and Deltagirl!
So I’ll be looking out at the show for a green-haired woman toting a bow, Moriarty(?!) and what looks like a Geisha standing on a crushed crab/emerging from hell.
Lol.
I was going to do a parallel live blog on backstage but my phone was running low on juice. So here’s my day so far.
8.00, out of bed for the 3 S’s.
9.00 Very quick trip to into my local town centre to collect an item I had made (not gaming related).
9.45 raging in Manchester at the council’s inept signposting for the train station car park (seriously guys, if you’re putting signs up, put them up all the way to the car park, don’t just give up halfway).
10.15 Pleasant Journey on the train to Euston including bacon butty and coffee.
12.30 Underground ticket madness (those ticket machines aren’t that complicated people).
13.00 Docklands Light Rail debacle. DLR, read my previous advice about signposts please.
13.30 Hotel check in. Room not ready so forced to have a Mojito in the bar. The bar tender was horrified when I ordered cocktails and proceeded to pull out the instruction manual. To be fair, it wasn’t bad for a first attempt, although I did have to remind her that the Cosmopolitan I ordered for my wife should have Cranberry juice in it, as well as Cointreau and Vodka.
14.15 drop the bag off in the hotel room (that’s the suitcase, not my wife) and go for a wander. Ended up going wargamer spotting in excel which, due the Sherlock Holmes convention on this weekend wasn’t as easy as you might think (come on, we’re fairly easy to spot in a building full of marathon runners).
14.30 Book a table for a Tapas bar whilst eating a burger from Fine Burger Co. That felt a bit greedy.
15.00 Find out how far I have to walk to get to Salute tomorrow. Glad I’m not doing the marathon.
15.30 Go looking for The Customs House.
15.35 Find The Customs House. Follow the Plastcraft Games guys back to Excel. Also find that construction work diverts the route back to the hotel through a rather suspect area full of boarded up houses. Should add some excitement to my walk home from the pub later.
15.45 Enjoy a cool beer on a warm day outside in a beer garden.
I haven’t done much since then and the forecast is for more. See you around 8!
Even though I’ll be there I’ll follow along. Good luck all.
Cannot wait for my first ever Salute. The fact that the BoW crew are there is a cherry pie on top of the dessert. To those about to dice, we salute you.
Still wish I could be there, but this looks like the next best thing!
Great series of videos again guys.
I really appreciate the work you all put in, for those of us who can’t make it.
Great stuff!
see you soon people
My first Salute tomorrow and really looking forward to it and saying hi to all you guys. Really sorry That I can’t make the drinks this evening, but to be honest it’s a miracle I’ve got a pass fortomorrow as it is!
Really wish I could be there. Could probably still make it but after paying to get there and get in i’d have bugger all spending money. And that would send me insane. lol
Nice work with the vids. I’ll see you there, I’m bringing the Burgomeister’s Mansion with me.
I’m going next year! So excited for BoW and the Hoth table! Guys, this is another awesome step forward for the Beasts.
Happy gaming!
This is the next thing to being there, thanks guys, hopefully ill get down there one year.
Realy nice, if i was there myself, keep up the good job, and have a nice ale on my tab.
Hope to a lot more the next couple of days.

See you in the morning bright and early to pick you up Multifish, you’re going to have a blast. The biggest eye opener to the hobby I have ever experienced!
Wish I could be there tonight but have offered a lift to some friends and bringing my son who is super excited for some Hoth action tomorrow! Maybe next year or one of the backstager weekends in Ireland in the future.
Great night at the meet up. See you all tomorrow!
Looks great guys wish I could be there but couldn’t get time off work , will be watching as much of live blogs as I can .
Is it tomorrow yet?

Let’s get ready to Rumble!
Is it wrong that I’m up at 4:15 am waiting for them to start posting 5 timezones away??
so glad you guys are blogging this since I can’t make it this year, have fun
I love seeing how a basic cavernous space can be turned into a hive of bustling activity for events like this.
