When I ran my business I had my hobby nights (3 or 4 reoccurring  events each week, dubbed “meeting” or alike) recorded in my calendar, and built all my schedules around it. I shared the calendar with the wife, business partners, had I had employees I’d share it with them as well, so everybody knew this time is already booked and I can’t be bothered.

I highly recommend this method, however, it requires being honest with yourself and actually making use of that time for your own purpose not as a slot for anything you didn’t manage to stuff elswhere.
