Wow. It’s Thursday before I even realised I’ve not visited the site yet this week – been busy with work and music and learning about AI-based object detection. But I bought some more paints this week, so that counts as hobby, right?

Today’s pledge – I guess I’ve less than 48 hours to rebase some of my minis (I tried @warzan ‘s approach of making the bases the cool bit on the mini, but they always disappoint – I finally stopped hating my own painting style, only to completely ruin a “nicely” painted mini with some terrible basing. So now I do as my new painting hero MiniatureHobbyist https://www.youtube.com/@MiniatureHobbyist does – and use clear bases!)

Out of the comfort zone – most of us have a certain type of game or area in time we like to game in. Which on is yours and what would it take to dip your toes in something completely different?

I like sci-fi and cyberpunk settings. I’ve played a few zombie games and enjoyed them. I quite like Gaslands which was quite a departure from my “usual” gaming. But I just can’t get onboard with fantasy. So I try new things – but there are some things I just won’t go near!

Out of focus – how much love and attention to you apply to taking pictures of your finished minis and terrain?

I’ve taken photos and have been pleased with the results. I’ve also seen some minis I thought I’d painted well look like horror shows in photos! Photos really don’t do minis justice – if you’re not sure, try resizing your 12MP image to 500 x 500. Looks a lot better now, doesn’t it? 😉

Out of bounds – have you had anything gaming related that made you (almost) flip the table? Insane rules or rule changes, units or even opponents?

Nah. I once lost it when I caught my sister cheating at Cluedo. I’m one of those “what’s the point?” players? Winning is the least important part of playing a game for me. But that wasn’t the game’s fault!

Here’s your music.
Remember the Black Crowes? Here’s Chris Robinson.
