Sounds like the adventure books of old with extra steps but less dice. I’m not sure if other RPGs have ever done such a thing but DSA (Das schwarze Auge The Dark Eye) had adventurer supplements that where either made for groups of certain levels or to be used as a solo adventure within the same world. You could level up your character for a game with your mates. Why don’t those exist outside DSA I wonder. Or am I just not seeing them?
