Also note, before you make a decision, that on a 40mmx20mm Warmaster base one normally places two strips of miniatures.  On a 40mmx40mm, I only place 3 strips and it looks fine.  For horde like creatures I place 4 strips to simulate multitude.  Monsters, artillery and chariots also look and fit better on a 40mmx40mm base rather than a 40mmx20mm base. Just my 2c.
