I keep getting a “413 Request Entity Too Large” error message when I try to upload photos to the project system. The images I’m attempting to upload aren’t any larger than usual — I’ve uploaded larger files in the past with no trouble. I’ve tried uploading them one at a time, but I still get the error. The largest image I’m trying to upload is 1.37 MB. I started getting the error yesterday (Monday August 11) and I’m still getting it today (Tuesday August 12). Is anyone else having trouble with this?
EDIT: Okay never mind. I just went back over some of my other images and it turns out these are actually pretty large. I re-exported the new images I was trying to upload and they’re much smaller now. Not sure what was going on there, but I suspect that when saving from Affinity Photo, “export” gets you a much more compressed file than “save” or “save as.” I’ll figure this computer thing out one of these days… 😉

August 15, 2025 at 2:06 pm #1939911@guillotine the Redis error is the updated site version of the old Cloudflare error we used to get when the exchange of data failed to confirm or complete in time. The solution is the same:
The solution is to leave the Redis error message on screen, then open your project in another tab on the same browser and check to see if your project update has loaded. If it has, happy days, you can close the page with the error on it. If it hasn’t, go back to the screen showing the error and hit the browser’s reload/refresh page button. A message will appear asking if you want to Resend the data, click Yes/Resend. Generally your update will now go through. If you get the Redis error a second time just repeat these stages.
August 16, 2025 at 8:09 am #1940007@zoidpinhead Got it, thank you. Refresh with resend solved it, it got posted.
Funny enough I got now hit the 413 error as well. Do we need to start uploading tiny photos to wind up Lloyd?
August 16, 2025 at 8:18 am #1940010Hmm… I compressed the photos more, to less than 1MB each and still too large? The forums and WAYPN thread too them well.
August 17, 2025 at 2:18 pm #1940061I’m getting the “413 Request Entity Too Large” error too. It’s a single image and I uploaded an image just a bit bigger than that only last week. Definitely a problem with the project end of things.
August 17, 2025 at 4:04 pm #1940063Apologies for the image upload issues. A few potential fixes had been applied in the past couple of days but if you’re still getting a 413 error more are probably needed.
I will investigate further tomorrow.
August 17, 2025 at 8:22 pm #1940065I just had a go at sticking an image (1.1Mb) into the forums and it went through okay. Not finished painting enough stuff to tackle a project update yet.
August 19, 2025 at 6:04 pm #1940323I’ve just been able to use the exact image I couldn’t use for the past few days, so the issue appears to be fixed.
August 19, 2025 at 6:38 pm #1940356I take my previous post back. I created a new project entry (https://www.beastsofwar.com/project-entry/1940324/) and had no problem putting in various images, but then suddenly the problem came back. Even deleting previous images to put new ones in didn’t help – so it’s not that there were too many images in the post.

August 19, 2025 at 7:41 pm #1940368I’ve been getting this also – it’ll fail a post ten times then allow it, exactly the same, on the 11th.
im sticking to just forcing up the images I want on my current project and I’ll try to add the text later as I’m tired of copy / pasting or re-writing all the detail when it falls over repeatedly
August 19, 2025 at 10:28 pm #1940406I got the error on my last project posting when I attempted to upload 4 images of around 300KB each. When I reattempted I did 3 images at a time (keeping the total under 1000KB) and that worked for me. Could there be a 1000KB limit? If so, that’s not very practical as we’re often uploading multiple images with our project entries, and having to do it in multiple passes is pretty labor intensive.
August 20, 2025 at 7:20 pm #1940649I’ve been investigating the issue further and one of the servers had a couple of configuration files restored to their defaults during it’s most recent update. Those files contained upload size settings and have now been restored to their pre update status so the issue should now be restored.
Please let me know if you continue to experience this issue.
