Fantasy novel series

I’ve always dismissed series like Dragonlance or Forgotten Realms  as probably being beach reding at best, but am revising my opinion.

Reading Dragons of Autumn Twilight is actually quite enjoyable, there’s a lot of detail, the authors do not overuse the past perfect tense but actually show instead of telling and there’s a fair amount of character development – the novel is based on an RPG afer all, so that should be a given.

There are flaws – way too many characters way too soon, a Knight walking into an inn in full plate armor, an Elf girl who gets braped but doesn’t know the herbs that deal with the consequences – and it is fairly obvious that the authors look at this from a modern perspective, but overall, better than expected.

I’ll be collecting some of these books to stand beside my Black Library and Shadowrun novels, there are MANY HUNDREDS of them, so I figure at least some of them have to be decent…..

Dragons of Autumn twilight and two sequels were good. The twins books were too.

Some of the other krynn books were crap and avoid any anthologies.
