Two attempts and still corporate waffle, I find the difference between them in interviews and the written releases jarring.  I suspect the hand of Asmodee.  Although it does seem it is effectively a slow end.

I may pick up a few extra boxes and I don’t regret my late buy in of the game and a game being done has never signalled an end for me

I don’t think it is a great signal for any future new projects to customers though

Shatterpoint is a game AMG wanted to make not sure it was a game any players really wanted. You can see how Marvel games makes sense, major heros fighting against each other as in the comics and films just feels right. In Starwars while the duels are the focus of the main story lines they are but a back drop to the overall action and 95% of the characters are not involved in them.

While the game is decent a good early sucess in the first few months due to the amazing mini design it quickly fell off a cliff. Our local store discounted and sold off the stock cheap within 6 months, and for the past year even major retailers have been selling off stock at near half price. I know at least one major store that is selling off and pulling out of the game.

While the minis are amazing the scale not being able to be used in Legion was a really dumb idea. I feel the same with conquest from parabellum the fact i cannot use them in other games due to the scale gives me no reason to buy them. I did buy some of the Shatterpoint models more to paint than play the game. While the boxes where sub 40 pounds often with a discount this was fine but the cost rose to over 50 pounds RRP that was it.

Also once the main characters had come out the interest in the others is rather more of a question. Jedi fighting each other in a duel combat makes sense but Padme Amidala handmaidens is less interesting as a painting project alone to want to buy a set.

I think Shatterpoint would have worked if they had followed the Kill team version of 40K. Had it been the same scale as legion and a way to introduce new models and unique characters to legion it would have solved two purposes. AMG in wanting to re-skin MCP using the Start Wars license in doing so killing off most of FF original star wars games is note in a long history of the mismanagement of the license post X-wing 1.5 rules update.

I dont have much faith in AMG really being that interested in Legion either but that seems to be against the grain as a lot of people have picked up Legion again. I would like to be proved wrong in that aspect.

yeah, some of the character choices are odd indeed.

But then the overall release schedule has been a mixed bag for all of these games.
There was no pattern that made sense.

It switches from prequels to cartoon series to original trilogy at random points.
Some sets are lacking in matching squads from the other side.
And some characters get multiple variants whereas we don’t get a single Yoda.

Even with Legion it was hard to predict wether they’d release something for a given era or not.

I do wonder how much Disney has interfered with the marketing/selection of things that they could do.

You’d think they would have forced a release of squad packs to match the sequel trilogy release, but appear to have been a mere after thought in the release schedule.

I’d looked at the 54mm Toy Soldiers as an option, so Shatterpoint was in the same ball park, although thinking of using Space Weirdos as gangs are 4-6 in size so these seem a good fit, 1 box, 1 gang, stat it up, and play away.
