First estimate on repairs: 1750€. Clutch is busted and brake fluid has leaked inside the clutch. To replace the clutch the gearbox needs to be taken out.
Considering all the other small bits and bobs that are due for repair my total guess-timation goes towards 2500€. At which point it starts to become financially madness.
Not that I would have the spare cash for a repairs sub 1000€
It’s head scratching time. big time.
Apologies in advance if I am more ranty and grognardy in the coming days.
August 8, 2023 at 8:45 pm #1832058I get you may become ranty @sundancer… life can get stressful at times…
But what causes spontaneous transformation into an old soldier?

The sudden urge to take up arms and shoot idiots! Also dear @pagan8th technically I am an old soldier. There is no doubt I am an old fart by now and I did serve 4 years in a Luftwaffe Patriot Anti Air company. So not really something that happens spontaneous XD
August 9, 2023 at 2:52 pm #1832214You were in the Luftwaffe and I come from the home town of the designer of the Spitfire 🙂
August 9, 2023 at 2:53 pm #1832215August 9, 2023 at 10:31 pm #1832261DON’T YOU DARE ruin my daydream of a young 20 year old Sundancer with a flowing white scarf seated in an open cockpit. The wind in his hair and a smile on his face as he dances through the sky doing barrel rolls and lope’d loops!
??
August 10, 2023 at 5:59 am #1832262I’m not The Red Baron…. or the great WWI Pilot sitting on his little red house. (See who get’s that reference)
Thursday. Second day I had to ride the bike to work. What was a relaxed 10 minute drive is now a 30 minute sweatshop.
Still undecided on how to proceed. New car? No car? No car but new bike? Fix old car? Without any disposable income to speak of the decision making is extra hard
August 10, 2023 at 1:01 pm #1832319@sundancer :chuckle: somehow I don’t think that with winter coming in your “old bones” will allow you to bike to work. That won’t work unless you switch from brown lemonade to schnapps to keep the chill away.
Ah yes, there goes Tim on his regular trek across town fully fueled on the highest of spirits. What he actually says to his customers now is completely unfiltered (unlike those fine spirits). Did you hear he’s finally gotten that raise he wanted/needed since the arguments he’s had has finally had impact on the blockhead corporate types? The high octane jet fuel running through his veins has sparked a new chapter in his life it seems.
August 10, 2023 at 2:26 pm #1832320when the weather gets to bad I either will do home office work or take the bus. Or the wife’s car if she doesn’t need it.

August 10, 2023 at 5:59 pm #1832351Got a few more models done. On track to finish the Cycle 2 minis this weekend then I can start playing the next cycle. https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1796204/

August 11, 2023 at 5:12 am #1832375Got sidetracked on the bombard and didn’t do any sculpting. I got the cavalry/camelry lance pennants and the levy archer standard bearers some flags. They’re all curing right now and should be solid tomorrow.
Painting I hadn’t planned on but got involved with has been a group of orcs from Reaper I’ll be selling off when I see my regular painting patron. They’re almost done and surprisingly more interesting than I initially felt. I’ve also done more 3D print exploration for all these minis agnostic games.
August 11, 2023 at 5:49 am #1832376“Bombard complete!” Great, now I’ve got that narrators voice from War for the Overworld [1] in my ear again.
It’s Friday. Three days cycling to the workplace is showing effect. Knees weak, sweating like a horse and my butt hurts.
Other than that washes on wooden parts for the terrain challenge really worked great. Much better than I had hoped. Pics will follow later.

August 11, 2023 at 12:38 pm #1832463Remember that you did enjoy biking as a kid once. Now you have the impetus to strengthen your butt and knees to ride your aluminum pony. I don’t know if your wife would let you have the motorcycle with its bigger and cushier seat.
