    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is The Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

If you fancy to see some nice WIP pictures go to the WAYPN thread https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/what-are-you-painting-now-2025-edition/

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Question of the week:

    • Are you already in the middle of spring clean or in preparation?

And now back to the show.

    Pledge: Paint something maybe perhabs

Answer: not really but now that I have planted that thought into my own head I might as well start thinking about cleaning this mess.

    Music!

Pledge: away this weekend, to the mountains. When back, finish more of my last commission. Almost to the finish line. Maybe work on something for myself (Ork Biplane conversion?).

Spring: definitely in spring clean thinking mode. Had an unusually warm February, there is no snow! Unheard of. I could be riding my motorcycle even, except I usually wait for a good rain to clean some of the gravel from winter off. Although even it’s not bad. My older motorcycle might get traded in this spring, depending on various factors. Or just sold outright. It’s 30 years old, but in pristine condition. But no modern amenities like ABS and ride modes, clutchless shifting, that my BMW has.

Music, inspired by Olympic coverage which samples this song:

This week’s pledge is to paint up some of the neutral units from Heroes of Might and Magic 3. I just finished the remaining settlement models:

    Dan’s 2026 Side Projects

    • Are you already in the middle of spring clean or in preparation? – Not really. I’m not sure I have a suitable project to spring clean this year. The only project not finished is the Heroes 3 minis, and at this rate they’ll all be finished in a few weeks.

Pledge: Get more exercise. Do more stuff.

Does have a sort out count as spring cleaning?

Maybe a spring clean challenge will motivate me to do something. Not sure what yet, but I have lot of unfinished stuff.

given that I had set my current project as a ‘spring clean challenge 2025′ entry … and I’m  still working on it.

    I guess I can say : yes 😀

Maybe I should pick something different this year 😉

This weekend is Carnaval, so nothing got done today.
I doubt anything will get done on sunday either, because I’m too ff-ing tired from todays’ event.
It was a lot of fun though. Singing the old songs and soaking up the atmosphere was worth the energy.
Technically the entire thing lasts up until wednesday, but that’s for folk with way more energy (and time).

Definitely making sure to take a few days of from work next year.

Anyways … I shall attempt to finish my 1:1 scale terrain project bit from last week.
There’s another one that I’ve been documenting so it’s not like I have nothing to do after this one 😉

Pledge: Get another army finished.  I’ve got a few Republican Romans that I want to add to an existing army to make it more suitable for To The Strongest and Midgard.  There are 24 extras to do between now and Thursday when I drop off the first half of the commission and hopefully pick up the next lot.

Answer:  My house is on the market so I’m having to keep it in show home condition. I’m constantly cleaning, tidying and gardening.  There really isn’t anything that could or should be spring cleaned, its all sparkling already.  I am looking forward to the Spring Clean Challenge and am still plotting what to do.  My theme this year is Fantasy.  I take it in turns doing either that, Historicals (which was last year) or Sci-Fi (which was the year before).  Beyond that I’m not sure.  There are certainly plenty of options in the Pile 🙂

@zoidpinhead having your house for sale is highly stressful. I’ve sold six properties in my life, and I’ve never enjoyed it. One more to sell and then we will move to our “last house” hopefully.

In honour of Valentine’s Day, this is the best definition of “love” I think does the job

    “I love … lamp”

It was not only Valentines day, it also was

    Mettbrötchentag!

    yes @pagan8th

I’ve sold six properties in my life

Six? And I haven’t even been able to get one. The world is weird.

Sunday, watching Gamers Nexus on Discord’s upcoming age verification. It’s a dark and deep rabbit hole.

    More coffee needed.

@grantinvanman I’m not particularly enjoying it but there isn’t a lot of choice.  We were here for 28 years and had a wonderful time but now I’m on my own this is too much house and I want to move nearer to my sons.  The UK property market has been very flat for a couple of years but things seem to be picking up now so hopefully we’ll be under offer soon.  I can’t match your six sales, this is just the second and probably won’t be the last.  I’m very unlikely to stay in the same place for such a long time again.

    Mett ?

From the description it sounds like it is similar to ‘Filet Americain’ … very tasty, but you best eat it the moment you bring it home from the store as it doesn’t last very long.
Add chopped onions and pepper … and it’s yummy.

Never had to sell my own property but I have had several rentals sold out from underneath me when owners couldn’t be arsed with being landlords anymore 🙁 Nothing involving moving is fun though, especially from somewhere you have so much history Zoid.

Pledge: I don’t know. The last few weeks have been heavy with work stuff so my Thunderbirds minis this weekend were the first models painted in a while. With ten days to go, I might just commit to my Community Painting Comp mini this week.

Are you already in the middle of spring clean or in preparation? I mean I cleaned out my spice jar drawer today. I have a couple of projects that I’ll probably swap between over the SCC; one of them threatens to kill me with monotony so I need some sort of salve. Thankfully I have plenty of options XD

A bit of music. I fell down a hole yesterday of drone show videos on youtube. As someone who has cats terrified of the big fireworks displays my city insists on doing multiple times a year, I love the idea of drones as a fun alternative. No idea if they’d be able to cope with the wicked Scottish winds though!

@limburger  Mett is minced pork meat and yes, needs to be eaten fresh. Also called “Bricklayers Marmalade” XD

@gorram Drone shows are cool but have you seen what happens when there is a failure and they just drop out of the sky? Scary I tell you.

@sundancer bricklayer’s marmalade is an amazing name. Youtube tells me that just over a year ago I watched a video filmed at Lange’s Imbiss in Berlin and that was the first time I’ve seen mettbrötchen.  The only bit I didn’t like the look of was the raw onions. I still think about that video on the regular XD
