@gorram  purists will tell you they are mandatory. Those are the same people that tell you you have the wrong shade of green on your historical uniform. If you don’t like raw onions I don’t know anybody who will hold it against you. (But they might add your onions to their own). But pepper and salt should always be applied.

Monday. And it’s flocking snowing again *sigh*

It’s going to snow here too. From 10-30cm forecasted, and temperatures are going to drop from near 0c to -30c by Wednesday. And one week later, back above zero. Going to be a wild ride.

    @grantinvanman I think that’s a challenge even I can complete 😀

I was thinking about buying the new red corsairs, but then I did the math and realised I can get more game for that kind of money if I don’t buy GW.

Red Corsairs Battleforce + their command/character set = 280 Euro

I was thinking out loud on Discord and realised I could get :
    – KoW starter set
    – two KoW champions boxes (one for each faction in the starter set)
and either the KoW Champions rules or the new campaign booklet that features the new faction.

That’s effectively 2 armies and 2 games for the same price with zero risk of FOMO, unlike GW.

Altough it looks like the red corsairs are still available after the weekend, which makes me think that people aren’t falling for these tactics like they used to do (or they simply have no money … :D).

Definitely making sure I take the whole week off instead of trying to survive a weekend like this and going back to work.
So glad I can work from home if I want to 🙂

@limburger I own hundreds of Mantic models and I’d definitely recommend trying Kings of War. Love their rulesets but the Mantic models are pretty meh when compared to things like Wargames Atlantic, Atomic Mass or GW. I’d rather paint better looking models but I totally understand wanting more for less. What kind of things do you do at carnival? Do you have any photos?

@grantinvanman that’s a crazy swing in such a short time. I’ve been watching Rally Sweden all weekend and they’ve been around -22 to -27C all weekend. Easily the most beautiful rally to watch with all the snow and ice but don’t know I’d be one of the nutters out there from 5am cooking burgers over fire. Think that no buying challenge might be beyond me though XD

@gorram I *eh* already have some of KoW 3rd edition 😀

(tries not to look at the pile of opportunity with more than a few Mantic games in there 😉 )

Design is something very personal, especially when it comes to fictional settings.
And even for historicals there are a few design decisions that may or may not be your thing, which is totally understandable too.

The world would be very boring if everyone liked the exact same things.

Not sure if this link will work … but that should give you a very short impression:

(I doubt anyone in here could understand anything 😉 )

They’ve been at it for 22 years and it’s been amazing.

@gorram – storm’s going to be a good one. Hunker down and not leaving the house! The big blue front is coming with DOOM!

I don’t miss the walk to work at 6am, but I still go for walks every day to keep my steps up.

Current target is 12000 per day which is about half what I used to do when working. Difference is I walk briskly now.

Pledge: stick my nose in again sooner than later

Am I doing spring clean already? Yes, I’m taking stock of figures to downsize hobby and my footprint in general.

A channel that makes interesting points in its videos.

Wednesday and I feel older than ever before. Like I said last night I’m not feeling the greatest and having a hot water bottle on your lap to ease symptoms of feeling unwell and not because you’re cold feels really “be old”.

And in other news: my YouTube Channel is now 7 years old. Seven! Where did all that time go? How did that happen!

Anyhow, now coffee and work and them we’ll see what will happen.

    Stay safe out there!

If you makes you feel any better @sundancer, I can’t afford to keep the heating on all the time, so a water bottle is frequent companion of mine.

Heated water bottles are great even if you could afford to heat your house like a sauna, because it’s a smaller more comforting form of warmth.

Highly recommended if you don’t own an organic heat source. I hear those come in bipedal and fourlegged variety.

@sundancer You have cats so @limburger has a point

By the by, if any notorious printers haven’t seen it, there’s a KS that has quite the collection for heads in helmets for modding your figures. I got this from a post by Don Suratos

    if I had a 3D printer then I’d say : “Thanks for the heads up … ”

    😀

but I don’t so I’ll ask this question:

    Is this dad-level punning ?

No hobby done yet and I’m trying to get the energy up to fill out a job application before Sunday so probably won’t manage much. I did get to see this while watching dinner tonight:

Bob Symes-Schutzmann is before my time but they’ve put a couple of his shows on the BBC Archive in the last few months and they’ve been lovely to watch.
