@Lazagram this is definitely the friendliest community ever.

We can all use a little less darkness in our lives.

This week’s pledge is to finish my painting competition entry. I’m almost done – just another couple of days should do it.

    • We all know struggles we have with our hobby. From the simple “what colour scheme will this be” over “where do I get XPS foam?” up to “Why don’t they have a distributor closer to me?”. But what outside struggles have the biggest influence on your hobby? – I guess I’m quite fortunate in that my hobby tends to be problem and stress free. I have a good routine of painting for about an hour every day while I watch the news, weekender or XLBS. I’ve cut back on buying while I search for a new job, but I’ve got enough files I can print off, or models from Kickstarters, that I still have plenty to be working on.

getting into a consistent pattern/rythm with your hobby is going to reduce any chance of struggles disrupting your flow.

All the more reason for me to finally finish my hobby room 😀

yeah … I know that if I had really wanted to I could have been hobbying already, but I’m trying to keep myself on track. Switching projects just because *squirrel* is never going to make me somewhat productive.

And I’ve had a really good brainstorming session with Gemini recently about my hobby room decorations/design.

    brainstorming session with Gemini

Brainstorming with something that has no brain at all. What weird times XD

So today was a good day. Slept in, had a nice breakfast with beans, bacon, fried egg and bread rolls. Watched XLBS, played some Fallout Shelter, had some chestnuts and now I’m sitting with two fresh primed treasure chests from an old Terrain Crate box.

Hope you all had a nice day too.

hey … at least then I know I’m the one with the brain 😀

I visited the scale model challenge today. I did see some gundam kits and loads of tanks.
Nothing was added to my pile of opportunity as nothing really spoke to me. I had been wanting to buy the Chibi tank model kits I had seen previous year, but either they were sold out or no one was selling them. I guess that was the disadvantage of a visit on sunday for this convention, because a few stands selling models had signs that said ‘sold out’.

I did see a gigantic model of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, but as a more normal sized version of that model was 100+ Euro I doubt it was for sale at all.

    General Information

Afterwards I did a bit of shopping because that’s always relaxing. I wish the weekend lasted one more day.

Outside struggles? I’ll be honest, there have been a whole heap of them in the last year – it was a major upheaval for us to leave the south coast (near Brighton) where we loved living for the previous 15 years or so. But health and family demands mean we’re now in the midlands, just south of Birmingham. And trying to get involved in a local community here is also massive demand on time – so what with that, and work, there’s not really been much time for “hobby”.

But things are slowly getting better.
The monthly painting challenges have been great fun to join in with, and have helped keep me focussed on getting even just a bit of painting done, every now and again.
And, of course, these lovely, welcoming forums – where you can go missing for six months, come back, and nobody wants to pry or give you a hard time about it (although, it might also be nobody gives a shit – or maybe even nobody noticed!)

Music. I recently discovered The Last Dinner Party but I think I posted them last week.
Ok. You lot asked for this. Turn up your speakers to eleven.

    You’re welcome.

@blinky465 where I work there are a lot of people and in my experience you don’t always notice when someone is missing, you notice when they return to work.

It’s not a matter of not caring, it’s not observing.

    So welcome back.

@pagan8th – thanks for the sentiment. I don’t know how to add the tongue-in-cheek emoji.
If we were together in the same room, I’d probably have thrown an over-exaggerated wink and playfully punched somebody on the arm at the same time while saying that!

    Boooh!

But things are slowly getting better.

    Yeah!

    You lot asked for this.

I DID NOT! Heresy! Bit glad to see you back and enjoy the plastic minis.

And just like that it’s Monday. Prepare your coffee and remain indoors! (If you can)

Yesterday I finished my entries for the painting competition this month. I’ll post a selection here, but for all models please see the project entry. https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1912086/

Well, I’m done my commission! FINALLY. It was to the point where it felt like work. I don’t like that point.

Tomorrow, I get to open some of my mountain of stuff – probably Orks, and start kit bashing.

Another hockey game today (didn’t play great, but I played?).

And then I did my other new thing: I switched being a guitar player to being a bass player. There’s a regular jam session on Thursday nights, and when you know you’re the least talented guitar player there… make a choice: no one on bass? Pick up the bass. Does it feel right? Hell yeah! I swapped  a ton of guitar gear to simplify my rig. But I’m loving being the bass player. Is it as glamorous? Maybe not. But I have to hold down the beat like the drummer. Go be a guitar hero. There is ALWAYS a better player. All I have to do is hold down the bottom end. I can DO THAT!

I also applied for VAC benefits finally. My ears are shot. That’s my down event for the week.
