Those are massive @pagan8th ! 🤯
December 13, 2025 at 4:24 pm #1953518I’m taking the weekend off from them. Spent too much time working on them since thursday.
Need to figure out which parts to paint. Also need to apply the rooftiles to parts of the main tower.
December 13, 2025 at 9:30 pm #1953534That is a big tower.
You sure you aren’t compensating for something ? 😉I’d say cardboard for tiles, but it’s going to be a lot of work to make enough of that stuff on such a huge thing.
I can see why you’d want to take a break from working on that.// —
I got unlimited powah !
Another day with zero hobby done.
Well technically a bit as I had to wait for the delivery of a kickstarter and of course I had to open the package 😀
That kind of counts, right ?It’s days like this that feel like a complete waste as I couldn’t leave the house until I knew when the package would be delivered (sometimes these fckers would be early than estimated time so I’d risk missing them … ).
And of course it had to be at the end of the day, which meant I couldn’t do any shopping worth a damn either.December 14, 2025 at 4:22 am #1953559@pagan8th Jeezy Kreezy! Seeing those two towers next to each other really puts things in perspective.
I agree @grantinvanman
@limburger Compensation with lightning sounds about right. Funny song and I have replayed it a few times now.
The damnable inconsistencies of delivery are a pain. I was on my way out the door to my FLGS today and was handed my brother’s dog food order. He’s been getting sick so helping was a good thing. I’m tracking the shipping of Giftmas presents overseas and, due to weather, things might be next year for the Giftmas episode.
As far as my hobby, I played a teaching game of SAGA to a draw and managed to hook some people’s interest into playing. Tonight I finish up more BB.
December 14, 2025 at 5:31 am #1953560@horati0nosebl0wer my Giftmas has been delivered! I sent it tracked to make sure.
I have not received anything back, but I enjoy sending more than receiving!
December 14, 2025 at 1:27 pm #1953590This one is funny too:
Time to find some motivation to do something today … anything will be better than nothng at all.
December 14, 2025 at 1:41 pm #1953592@horati0nosebl0wer whisky and water? Don’t let @avernos hear that!
Also where did my post go? I’m 100% certain I did one about the TT Tower being a nice alternative for the Frostgrave campaigns “Bell Tower” and “Silent Tower” Or am I starting to hallucinate?
Anyhow: can’t be arsed with new thread this week. We’ll just use this one until net Friday.
Anybody got a good question to hand? XD
December 14, 2025 at 1:56 pm #1953594I’m in a reflective mood as we get towards year end. How about this as a question:
Every day is a school day. What new trick, tip, tool or technique you picked up this year has made the biggest difference to your hobby?
Answer: I’ve been very impressed with the AP Speedpaint Markers. I’m still progressing well with the Roman Army that I’m painting just with the markers. I doubt I’ll do another project with just the markers but I’m sure I’ll keep using them to help speed other projects along.
December 14, 2025 at 3:59 pm #1953602@zoidpinhead I’ve painted the most minis in a year, ever, and I think Contrast Paints made the difference. They have become a part of my toolbox permanently.
December 14, 2025 at 4:13 pm #1953603Good question @zoidpinhead… I’ll save my answer until it makes it into a thread next week.

@grantinvanman I think the whole contrast/speedpaint thing has made such a difference and not just for the beginner who I think they were marketed at when they first came out. Like you I’m finding them such a boon in terms of getting stuff done.
I’ll save my answer until it makes it into a thread next week.
@pagan8th I think there isn’t going to be a new thread for next week according to our glorious leader, we are sticking with this one. Now I’m intrigued as to what your answer is going to be?
December 14, 2025 at 5:48 pm #1953608@sundancer said he would do one next weekend and that will probably last us until the new year.
It’s not a trick, tip, tool, or technique… but I think retirement has helped 🙂
December 14, 2025 at 11:15 pm #1953679one more week of work … and then it’s two weeks of holiday.
I kind of hope I will get some hobby in then, but I doubt it. With the way my mood has been I really need to find some positive energy somewhere.
There’s only been a few times this year where I managed to kind of mentally flip a switch and get motivated enough to do anything. I’ve yet to discover the actual trick to make that happen more often.
One thing that may help is having stuff available and at hand before starting. Like getting all ingredients chopped and measured before you start cooking instead of trying to do it as you go.
It’s kind of why I hope that getting my hobby room to a state where I can actually use it will be critical for my hobby.
Little things like having all paints at hand as well as a dedicated spot for painting has to help a lot.I still have to figure out how to organise my hobby in general, because there’s so much stuff and there is no system to it.
Trying to organise it is tricky as I get too easily distracted when unpacking stuff so I really need a system that I can apply without thinking. And I am going to need more things like really useful boxes so the actual storage can be less chaotic.
Which reminds me. I need some sort of labelling mechanic first.
And I’m going to have some categories for stuff to sit in. Do I go by system, scale, feature, theme or something else ?
Do I group things by game or theme ?
(see … there I go again, down the rabbit hole like a dog distracted by *squirrel* )There’s so much stuff I have to think about that I haven’t even considered. It’s probably easier for people who only collect a single system or who are only beginning. Which is why at one point I was thinking of creating an inventory app to help me organise things, but then I’d spent months writing software before doing any organising … and *arrrrhggggg*
tl;dr;
I really need to organise my hobby collection first. Any and all ideas are welcome.December 15, 2025 at 4:48 am #1953684@zoidpinhead A game changer for hobby? I’ll agree with @grantivanman here. The color wash to break visual monotony in a single pass makes all sorts of a difference to being productive. Its the auto achievement of getting down pigment. As far as a technique I guess I’ll be trying to start using color underpainting for models and do better blends.
Its all just refinement of practice by doing th practice.
@grantinvanman I’m glad to hear your stuff was delivered. Things I had en route got delayed by the weather and rerouted. Good luck to all who were in the thread.
@pagan8th *in a longing voice* Retirement? *choking up slightly* what a beautiful dream… say it again
@limburger yoy might be able to organize boxes by game and faction. If you draw down on what you “want” to play versus what you “will” play it might help on parting with some things. I’m looking at my own hoard and dividing it between collection, display and play categories. Things in the collection group should be reduced as they are worked into the other two. It all builds on the pride of accomplishment. Personal happy for display, public happy to play.
Ok I just found this guy and had to share
