Things have been… suspiciously quiet over at Wyrd Games lately.

Not the peaceful kind of quiet where everything runs smoothly. No — this is the kind of quiet where people whisper in corners, mysterious boxes appear on desks, and someone keeps reminding Waldo that he is absolutely not allowed to open them.

Naturally, he tried anyway.

Fortunately for the rest of us, one of those mysterious boxes contained something worth revealing: Nakano Takeko, Breaker of Obstacles, a striking new miniature for Malifaux.

Nakano Takeko // Wyrd Games

A New Face for a Familiar Character

Nakano Takeko is a unique alternate sculpt that counts as the character Bill Algren in Malifaux Fourth Edition. While the rules remain the same, the miniature introduces a completely new aesthetic for the character, giving players a fresh option to represent him on the tabletop.

The sculpt presents a dynamic warrior poised for battle, offering a new visual identity while remaining fully compatible with existing crews and gameplay.

Alternate sculpts like this allow players to customise their forces without altering the mechanics of the game — something many collectors and tournament players appreciate when building a visually distinctive crew.

Designed for Organized Play

Nakano Takeko is also the first miniature in an upcoming special event model line designed specifically for organized play.

Rather than appearing through standard retail channels, these models will primarily be distributed through:

  • Tournament prize pools

  • Organised play rewards

  • Special event promotions

The goal is to celebrate the competitive and community-driven side of Malifaux, rewarding players who show up to events to flip cards, cheat fate, and occasionally make questionable tactical decisions in front of a crowd.

First Appearance at AdeptiCon

The first opportunity to see Nakano Takeko in the wild will be at AdeptiCon.

The miniature will appear as part of the prize support for the Tyrant Tournament, one of the Malifaux events taking place during the convention. For competitive players and collectors alike, that makes this sculpt a particularly desirable addition to the game’s growing roster of limited models.

A Glimpse of More to Come

While Nakano Takeko is the first model revealed in this initiative, she won’t be the last. Wyrd has indicated that more alternate sculpts are planned for future events, giving organised play participants access to miniatures that are a little rarer than standard releases.

For dedicated Malifaux players, it’s another reason to attend events, roll some dice (or rather flip some cards), and enjoy the unpredictable chaos the game is famous for.

And if the recent suspicious quiet is any indication, there may be a lot more waiting in those unopened boxes.
