About the Project
The Protectorate of Menoth was the first faction I picked up for Warmachine. While I have completed a significant number of the Warjacks and a handful of the Warcasters and solos my goal for this project is to finish the remaining miniatures for the army.

After taking a break to work on other projects I decided to tackle this partially painted warjack over the weekend.
Easiest 2nd Place Ever!
I went to the tournament and won second place after losing just one game! Well…I kind of only played one game.
Following the short tournament I played again with my opponent and learned that I still have some learning to do when it comes to playing for scenario. I often jammed my own units behind each other or left units unsupported. But I had alot of fun and truly enjoyed my time at the very first Armourcon.

Bases are Completed and Some More Models
During the month of September I was able to complete the painting of all the bases for my entire force. I painted the sand and then painted the rims black and red.
Additionally I completed the finishing touches for High Exemplar Gravus, the Purifier and the legs for Hand of Judgement. To the side you can see a Jaime Lannister miniature that I completed the cloak on.
One thing I learned through this process of painting all these miniature is that I do better when painting two or three at a time and I prefer switching color palettes. Spending too much time working with the same set of colors has made it extremely difficult to focus and remain motivated.
Hard At Work on Bases
Over this past weekend I worked on completing the bases for all of the lists that I am taking to the tournament. I was able to successfully complete the sand with XV-88, an overbrush of Zamesi Desert and a drybrush of Tyrant Skull.
I then started and got half way through painting the bases black and adding a half mark of Mephiston red.
This way even if the models are not completely painted they will be playable on the tabletop.
Labor Day Hobby Progress
I have been extremely busy but I have gotten quite a lot done in the past two months to get to a point I am happy with. With a month to go until the tournament I have about 25% of the models I will be bringing fully painted. The first step back in July was to undercoat the newly assembled models with Zandri Dust. I completed this with an airbrush during one late summer night.
Also back in July I stressed that I wanted to explore using Feora Protector of the Flame and High Exemplar Cyrenia for my two lists. I was able to complete both models and I am quite happy with how both turned out.
I was also able to complete the Blood of Martyrs warjack and a second Repenter that I plan to bring with a Castigator for Feora’s list. For Cyrenia’s list I finished the arms for the Reckoner.
Not content with just painting tan and red I had a half finished Thagrosh that I completed the arms for. Red VS Blue!
Feora, Thyra, Cyrenia, Tristan or Kreoss?
I have been exploring list options and while I know that my two lists will be centered around a Flameguard/Daughters of the Flame list and an Exemplar force I still am not quite what sure which warcasters I will run.
Currently I am considering either Feora 1 or Feora 2 as the leader of the Flameguard/Daughters of the Flame list but have been open to the idea of Thyra as an assassination list.
For the Exemplar force I have considered Kreoss 1 and Kreoss 2 but recent investigation has turned out some nice Tristan and Cyrenia combinations with Exemplar units.
Independence Day Hobbying
Assembled, based and primed! The second unit of Exemplar Errants and Flameguard arrived. I promptly assembled the units and based them with a sand texture. On July 4th itself I spent the warm summer morning happily priming the miniatures with Chaos Black and Zandri Dust.
Later during the holiday weekend I completed painting the capes for High Exemplar Gravus and Phyrus the Flameguard hero solo. I was able to complete the body for the Repenter and the arms of the Purifier. Next up the body of the Purifier!
Preparing for October
I have not played a game of Warmachine in almost a year and a half. This has been mostly due to the fact that in order to play I need to travel an hour and a half to a game store. This October is a 75 point tournament that is 15 minutes down the road from me. So I set myself a challenge… have two full 75 point lists fully painted and complete a bunch of test games with my brother using the other factions I have.
I will be documenting this journey through this project blog and I hope that you enjoy the journey.
While I have one unit of Flameguard and one unit of Exemplar Errants unpainted I found that I want to run two units. I also want to pair Feora with her character warjack The Hand of Judgement.
With the goal in mind I have also decided to break painting down into groups of three to four small based miniatures. I have also simplified painting the warjacks by removing the arms and focusing on completing the bodies and arms separately.
