Sarrissa precision have been kind enough to supply some terrain for us that I’m frantically building, as well as a  (HHHUUIIGGEEE) ship purchased from TT Combat.

All were easy builds and put together with gorilla wood glue. Currently all now primed and  awaiting paint…

The following sequence of images were taken by an unknown resident of Val Verde, showing the rounding up and near execution of dissidents on the outskirts of the port of Virena. Moments before the dissidents were executed, Team Matrix assaulted the position, killing all Val Verde military personnel, however, the unidentified male directing the troops wearing the blue shirt, was not among those killed, and his role on the island is currently unknown.

The same photographer also observed this heavily armed black Humvee heading  towards the jungle approximately an hour after the fire fight.

Fates of the dissidents, and photographer are unknown.

Val Verde Military

The Val Verde National Army has suffered a turbulent, dark history and is notoriously corrupt.

During the 1980’s, the army suffered several disasters at the hands of American Special Forces, notably the destruction of a secret jungle military installation, that was being used as a liaison center with Soviet intelligence advisors. A low yield nuclear device was observed to detonate deep in the jungle days after the installations destruction, however no further information regarding this has been made public.

In 1985, the Arius Villa was allegedly attacked by a lone Commando, that resulted in the deaths of dozens of Val Verde soldiers, including General Arius. Arius’ death also served to cement General Esperanza’s power base, though the military had been severely weakened by the casualties sustained during the raid.

With Raul Esperanza’s assention to power, the military has been significantly retrained and restructured. A network of firebases with interconnecting fields of fire cover the island, and are able to respond at a moments notice to all major establishments. Simultaneously, response teams mounted in APC’s are rushed to disrupt and contain threats as they develop.

The Val Verde National Army’s command structure still owes a great deal of loyalty to the Esperanza family, with many senior officers having served under Ramone. This loyalty extends to utilizing the military to seek out dissenters and rebels throughout Val Verde.

The Esperanza Cartel has its roots in the late 1980s. Following Val Verde dictator General Ramone Esperanza’s death in an aircraft accident in late 1990, the subsequent power vacuum lead to a period of intense instability as cartel and government forces struggled for power.

Eventually, successive military governments toppled, with the previous regime being decimated by a foreign, expendable mercenary team.

Through this opening, the Esperanza cartel has assasinated and extorted itself into the position that now General Esperanzas son, Raul is able to rule this small island paradise with an iron fist.
