About the Project

This is my first attempt at starting and running a project log. I have a fair few armies and game systems I play and thought it'd be a good idea to track them... This is my first attempt and the first one I'm starting out from scratch. The others I hope to add as I go but they're already armies started etc.

This Project is Active

With magnetising the weapons I used a slightly different message to the one earlier in this Projeect.

I still drilled the holes as normal but with trying to drill on a round surface the bit sometimes slips and the start hole is too large to grip.

Normally some super glue would sort that out but I’d run out (shame!)

I discovered on something else I was working on that if there’s a slight ridge or so above the level of the magnet that a drop of poly cement will part melt the plastic and using a wooden spatula you can “bend” the edges over to help seal the magnet in place.

Failing that, some of the filings from the hole can be glued over then trimmed and filed to help nip the magnet.

So, after purchasing the warhounds box last year, with the addition of two more from the new starter set, I decided it was time to build them…

As usual I’ve magnetised the weapons and torsos but I have had to build them as 2 imperial and 2 chaos

So, what have I been up to?…

Did some basing work on two warlords (still a WIP).

Got the legs and some of the torso of the House Terryn armour panels painted.

Built 2 Cerastus knights.

Built 6 more tiny knights.

*cough* painted a load of tyranids *cough*

Built two warhound titans.

Pictures to follow once Google uploads them…

Dreaded wall of text...

So, back in June 2019 this project took an unexpected hiatus…

Thanks to problems with two lodgers I ended up with a visit from the police with the end result of all tech in the house that could access the internet removed as part of the investigation.  My laptop, phone, xbox etc, the two ex lodgers phones, PlayStation and my current lodgers phone and laptop all gone…

It’s taken a few months to replace the items taken and life settled down with help from the guys here and in the discord and after 9 months or so I’ve managed to pick myself back up and continue with the hobby and finally I feel I can continue with this and other projects.

TLDR, Major problems caused by ex lodgers causing depression and now picking myself back up and carrying on…

Some more progress has been made.

Started to procrastinate so I thought I’d get some paint on the knights.  After a little bit of hunting I managed to find my main Imperial Knights to use as reference and painting began.

Managed to get the bulk paint on all 6 but the hands started shaking a little too much after painting the gold trim on 3 of them.

Last entry for the day…

Got the parts laid out and primed with Chaos Black.  Then did a rough mock up to see how he stood…

Strike a pose...

Well, I couldn’t debate it much longer, it was time to break out the blue tac and work out how I was going to start posing the first warlord.

From looking at a friends build I decided to start with a striding pose however he advised not to stretch the stride too far as it made fitting the armour panels harder to the point of trimming.

Each leg was built up a section at a time from ankle to hip working on the rear leg first and making sure the top of the hips was level (like if it was a full size warlord).

Next pose I’m thinking of raising one foot slightly, either resting on something (sorry Ben) or sculpting the base slightly like building debris being trod on.

Third pose I might go with stood still but will have a think and see.
