Starting Bushido

About the Project
My local enabler pushed hard on Bushido and I caved. I like to choose a faction no-one else is playing and since I started a bit later than most others I took the Descension. This is my blog recording building a table and starter force.

Card Box
Bushido supplies a card for each unit and cards for other purposes. 3D Alien Worlds has a card box stl which I print. The box came with several, circular inserts you could glue to the front. I went for dull red look with corner pieces painted grey and dry brushed with Caribbean Blue.
Samurai Temple Bell
This was the big one. A much longer print than the others but I loved the finish. The roof came in two parts so I added a bit of green stuff to fill the join.
Again I used simple base colours and washes. The roof and bell were drybrushed with Scale Color Caribbean Blue SC-49.
Samurai Farmhouse
The stls for this kit are a really nice set. The houses come in easily printed sections that let you customise the look of your buildings. This house used three sections with end pieces. To cover the lines on the floor of the three adjoined pieces you can print the pieces of a floor. Looks good.
I used the roof style of stones keeping the slats down on something. I’ve no idea if it’s realistic. I just liked it.
The print including some fixing stones. I realise now I glued them in the wrong place. The house posts should’ve appeared embedded in them. Hey ho.
Paint scheme was pretty basic basing and dry brushing. I used Vallejo’s Woodgrain tint to the inside pieces. The door is openable in theory but the fit was so tight it won’t be moving.
Kicking off with Terrain - Samurai Torii Gates
The game is played on a 2’x2′ table. I think you can go to 3’x3′ but that’s for another day.
At the time I was considering this 4Ground had a Bushdio terrain set on offer that looked good. It had fairly pastoral vibe. I was near convinced to buy this before I’d chosen a faction. However once I settled on the Descension – bird dwellers living high in mountainous, snowy regions – this terrain didn’t really fit. I was flip flopping on this till someone directed me to 3DAlienWorlds.
This fit the bill and the stls are cheap. Cool, I’m sold. I printed both gates and while they frayed a bit on the rope I thought that looked ok.
Paintjobs were simple, base colours mainly. I used Agrax Earthshade for some quick weathering on the smaller gates and the ropes. The roofs were drybrushed with Scale ColoR SC-49, Caribbean Blue.
BUSHIDO!
A few of us have decided to kick off with Bushido. Since we’re all starting from scratch I’ll be making a table and a faction. With time I’ll see if I can get a small selection from a second faction for demos.
The lovely thing about Bushido is the game doesn’trequire many figures and uses a small table. Just a 2×2.
I’m going with the Descension, a race of bird people with some humans who live and admire them.
