The Empire Responds to the invasion of the Uruk Hai

About the Project
I have spent a few years building a large terrain board, some small armies and one large army of Uruk hai. I now want to build up another army to match the size and force of the orcs (Uruk hai) and goblins (Moria). The only two forces I have of any scale is undead and Empire, my mates have some empire too so I shall do my empire principally. And we can use the allies from other human provinces during games to top us up in points as high as possible while the forces slowly come together. Though I may get distracted from the slog again from time to time. This is now part of the process! So expect: undead, Men of Numenor , Eregion Elves, Morian Dwarves and maybe even some dungeon saga. Possibly a small bit of sci fi too as I’ve wanted to get on to my Aliens from the film for ages! But mostly, FOR THE EMPIRE!!!! And dogs of war…..

Distraction of the Dead, again…..
The Roman conversions turned out best. So I now need catapults and bolt throwers. Oh and also a regiment of dead Roman legionaries. The warlord Roman veterans box works perfectly for this work. Though I may want another box……..the Greek hoplite type fella will be part of a shades or spirit unit. Thinking a fantasy army for hail Caesar as much as for warhammer!Distraction pieces, and it’s partially your fault UHH!
You spoke about Dead man’s hand wagons, so I bought 6. Now that is entirely UHH and the weekenders fault. ?. I’m going to make a big wagon train and play the scenario from issue 1 of the citadel Journal, hint, it involves surprise hellblasters!
In other distraction news, I am so dogged off with my foot knights debacle that I’ve been making up some undead again. Experimented with a few different designs and now I have purchased a box of Roman veterans and two onagers from warlord games. Because I now need an Imperial Roman undead regiment with fire support….of course!!?!? Cos I need more to do!? Just try try try try to stay on track Jason!!!From Stockholm to Nottingham.
Wedding anniversary trip to the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, what a ship the vasa is!! Even if it was crap, it looked magnificent! And the museum has 28mm scale Vasa ships cannons, well I had to part with crowns for that didn’t I?
Once I returned to the uk on the Friday it was consolidate at home on Saturday then straight up to foundry in Nottingham for Bring out your lead! What a great event, I’m definitely going to try and book a table for next year at their new venue. But should I run a big fantasy game? Or a 2nd Ed 40k game?!? Oh I can’t decide. Foundry shop was open and selling these lovely bow chasers and pirate cannon crew, my empire now need pirate mercenaries. Of course! But where can I get some more crew for the bow chasers? Some different metal pirate poses would be great as I’ve used up foundry’s options. The mercenaries are coming together
I’m really pleased with the warlord games galloper guns being used as Bronzino and crew. The games workshop Khandish horse are very pleasing as horse archer proxies, quite happy there. I adoooore the hussars!!
The foot knights are fantastic miniatures but I think I’ve fucked up the paint job somewhat. I don’t fully know what I’ve done wrong but the skin is not right, the shields are not right, the banner is not right and overall the unit feels……Meh. What could I do to remedy the situation? All thoughts are desired please!Hussar! Winged hussar! And some Khandish on the way
I’ve been wanting Kislev and now I’m getting on with it! But Kislev need galloper guns. Why!? Because I say so!
Go warlord games and Lotr Khandish. I’ve enjoyed doing the winged hussars sooooo much. They are my best work I’ve ever done and my favourite models I’ve ever owned.
Converting a Khandish ice wizard was fun as was a boyar using the spare winged hussar leader torso I had.
That historic grounding in my fantasy is so important, these minis do that job beautifully.
