About the Project

The new expansion for The Silver Bayonet was available at Salute 50. I picked up my copy and the game inspired me to get back into my collection. Painting up some of the new bestiary from the expansion and some minis for my investigating warbands.

The home of The Forrest Witch - Muma Pădurii
The home of The Forrest Witch - Muma Pădurii. In the expansion first solo mission there is a chance that you discover her house in the woods... So I finally found an excuse to mess with this McDonald's toy. It's a smurf house from a few years ago. It scales well. The home of The Forrest Witch - Muma Pădurii. There were holes in the roof so I put dried up paint from GW green paint lids into a plant punch and just in twists to look like growth in the thatch / through the roof. There were holes in the roof so I put dried up paint from GW green paint lids into a plant punch and just in twists to look like growth in the thatch / through the roof.
The original The original
As this might be used rarely in this game, maybe rarely in any of my games, I settled with the card insert door provided with the toy rather than make something more 3D.As this might be used rarely in this game, maybe rarely in any of my games, I settled with the card insert door provided with the toy rather than make something more 3D.

No idea on the history of the Austrian cavalry uniforms of the era so went with an approximation of the box art.No idea on the history of the Austrian cavalry uniforms of the era so went with an approximation of the box art.
The box art went for a dark green tunic, but I have already used a lot of dark green in this unit so ended up with a heavily Camoshade washed Deathguard Green instead. He was always going to be brightly coloured and I think the brighter green is historically acceptable given that uniform dyes of the time bleached in the sun and washed out pretty easily over time on campaign. The box art went for a dark green tunic, but I have already used a lot of dark green in this unit so ended up with a heavily Camoshade washed Deathguard Green instead. Thank you BoW for the pat on the back on Father's Day.Thank you BoW for the pat on the back on Father's Day.

Ben mentioned the story telling and naming of characters that I must do more of to live up to the praise I feel and they loved the embellishments of flock as straw on the scarecrows and the choices of minis thus far.

I will have to get some solo games played soon to show off the new minis and dig into the rules again.

Always lovely to get praise and I always appreciate it.

(Going through an insurance claim after a car crash and other shitty news in my life so things like this give me a nice boost against the negativity.)

Need to dig a bit deeper in the rules for this fella. A kind person on the The Silver Bayonet Facebook page have made a Unit builder Excel document. On the builder the only way they appear to get irregulars is by hiring them from other nations, seemingly at a premium points wise. Will try to work this out. I tried a slightly more bold contrast on this mini. He doesn't look as grimy as some of the other minis. The Green Speedpaint over the Brown primer looks spot on.I tried a slightly more bold contrast on this mini. He doesn't look as grimy as some of the other minis. I basically stuck to the box art and tried some freehand embroidery on the legs. The Camo Green Contrast over the brown primer came out well on the trousers. My Bloodless Hound. Only went with this Mantic Deadzone Plague Dog because I had a sprue as part of an old StarSaga Kickstarter reward. If I want more of these I would probably have to pay a fair amount. Might decide to get the official North Star hound minis and paint them a similar colour? Or maybe stick with this one hound and add other scenario friendly bad guys to supplement the lack of Bloodless Hounds. My Bloodless Hound. Highwayman from the 2nd Austrian Unit. Not sure if the stonework as basing is a milestone or a stone post of some other variety. The stone is just a piece of resin sprue painted grey, washed with Athonian Camoshade, then Grey Seer edging and chipping. The plant is just urban grey flock PVA glued to the stone and picked out in Deathguard green paint. He’s a dandy highwayman who they’re too scared to mention. ??

As a fan of Adam and The Ants, I thought that Adam Charming (“Prince Charming” being one of their hits as well as “Stand and Deliver”) it was as apt a name as any.

The coat came out quite well. I used Highland Blue Speedpaint over the brown primer and it came out nice and dark. I highlighted with a black and Kantor Blue mix and I am happy with the result.

The coachman has his trusty blunderbuss. I made the brown primer I used do most of the work. Just weathering, Agrax wash, some black elements and some flesh for the face and the mini was pretty easy.
