About the Project
I've been accused of doing long projects that lack focus so the dugeonalia idea is to look at the alien hive on Lv426. The focus is to complete a 3d version of the board from the classic leading edge games Aliens board game from the 90s

The classic
The leading edge games version of Aliens is still my favourite. I've played it more than any other board game. It's quick it's easy and it's fun and can be made as complicated as you like. I've had it over 30 years and obviously looks the worse for ware. I've always wanted a 3D version and now seems the perfect time to have a go. I'll be concentrating on the atmosphere processor hive when the marines have to escape to the APC. Lv427 designs recently did stl files for their version of the board but I'm not too happy with the lack of hive slime on the walls. I guess they thought people might use it for other games so I'll be 3d printing znd converting.
My original metal minis with 30 year old paint schemes. I haven't the heart to repaint them. Look at those eyes. Slthough I'd be looking like that if a xenomorph was chasing meFirst print problems
The board is split into 15 sections and I'm using a resin printer which isn't really the right printer for the job as they dont fit on my print bed unless i turn them on their side. I did this with the first corner and ran out of resin so i have some holes to fix. I also had to chop the file in half for it to fit
The second section fits on the print bed on it's side with the use of supports which are a pain to remove
The third section I printed upright and fit it in place by printing it in two parts. This is without supporting it and it worked well. Nice smooth resin which I hollowed to save on materials and make sure it doesn't way like a brick
I'll be sticking to this method as I go onWeek of printing complete
Another print failure but luckily I can hide behind nest 
Not sure if to do anything with the voud space. Maybe a force perspective image like the original board game
Marines
I can't use card board stands from the original game on a 3D board so I've taken the characters from the glorious day in the corps game which has sll the marines with names on the stands. I've just painted the rim's to match their cards for ease of reference 
Generator
This blocked off section of the map isn't represented on the prints because it cover numerous tiles so it vomrs as a separate generator that can be placed on the board
Good news is it covers the hole I had in my failed print. It resembles a generator from the Alien isolation video game
Eggs
I got the stl for just one pound from papsikels during black Friday so I can print as many egges as I like
Adding the hive
I have a selection of dead bodies some from tt combat and a perry miniatures zulu war brit who can be disguised as colonists cocooned on the wall
The gunk helps hide my print failure as well as add some character to the walls
