Painting Marvel Crisis Protocol With 144Artist

About the Project
I have some very good friends who chipped in to pick up the newest core box for Marvel Crisis Protocol for my birthday present. One of the benefits of celebrating in my Friendly Local Game Store apparently. While I have wanted to paint some of these minis since I first saw them, I haven't been sure about diving into the entire game. Well, two of our group are completely addicted so I will have folks to play the game with, unlike my Burrows and Badgers undertakings. I must admit to being a little overwhelmed by the contents of the Core Set. There are all the rules, templates, counters, dice, terrain, and minis needed to play. Speaking of the minis, there are 13 in the new set and they are wonderful little sculpts, great detail and movement. I think this is going to be fun. Now I just need to avoid diving into the deep end and trying to acquire everything. Anyone who has been following this blog will know I have failed to restrain myself. Despite still not having played the game I have just about every character made and two thirds of them are painted. At least I'm getting some good work done.

This Project is Active
Sunspot is Fired Up and Ready to Fight
My New Mutants affiliation grows with the addition of Sunspot. He looks like fun to play. He was fun to build and paint so anything else is bonus at this point.
Back to Posting... and Thanos
As I noted so long ago in my last post, life certainly gets in the way of hobby time. In May I found myself having to move house. Fortunately it was to a much bigger place even though that gave me some new challenges and a great deal of work. I had finished up and photographed more minis before I packed everything away so plan to start back by posting those.
Thanos was one I wanted to enter in a painting exhibition so really pushed myself on the Non-Metalic Metal of his armor. While I think it is among some of my better efforts, I really have a long way to go before I feel capable let alone competent. I do feel this is a strong piece and some of my better work on MCP minis. I’m just impatient to improve. I will post pictures with his throne in the near future.
Here’s hoping I can start posting progress regularly again. I even have room to set up a game or two now so more pictorial possibilities.
Warlock and the New Mutants Arrive
Seems I have been double posting and repeating some of my earlier ones. I apologize for the mess-ups. I have got to keep better track of my photos and postings. I also want to go back to posting Table States from time to time. I must admit that real life has gotten in the way as of late and having to behave like an adult really takes it out of me.
For now I have Warlock joining the collection as well as one of the latest affiliations, the New Mutants. This will be a fun group and I look forward to seeing what Cannonball can do once he joins the game.
Nick Fury Jr and His Agents of SHIELD
My SHIELD affiliation keeps growing and now has Nick Fury Jr to lead them. This looks like a really fun affiliation to run. Like Guardians of the Galaxy this appears to have plenty of guns.
Ultron Arrives to Conquer
I’ve finished the original Ultron mini which is also the last of the original set I had left to paint. This appeals greatly to my collector’s side that likes things to feel complete. The gamer side of me just loves having options in my game play so there really is no hope for me.
The Hood and His Possessed Form
I have no idea who this guy is but I like the figure. The character is very interesting with Mystic attacks and becoming possessed when his card flips. I just really like painting red.
The First Red Skull is Painted and Deadly
I’ve now completed the original Red Skull from the first core set. I skipped the OSL on this guy… well mostly. Simple figure that was fun to paint. I’ve read that he is still a deadly choice to include in one’s force.
Summoning Doctor Voodoo
While I remember Brother Voodooo in comics when I was a kid I have no memories of him at all other than visuals tied to the name. That leads me to believe I saw him in ads in other comics. Regardless, I learned his history and powers listening to the Fury’s Finest MCP podcast and am glad they changed his name to Doctor Voodoo as it just sounds cooler.
Really fun figure to build and paint.
