Painting Marvel Crisis Protocol With 144Artist

About the Project
I have some very good friends who chipped in to pick up the newest core box for Marvel Crisis Protocol for my birthday present. One of the benefits of celebrating in my Friendly Local Game Store apparently. While I have wanted to paint some of these minis since I first saw them, I haven't been sure about diving into the entire game. Well, two of our group are completely addicted so I will have folks to play the game with, unlike my Burrows and Badgers undertakings. I must admit to being a little overwhelmed by the contents of the Core Set. There are all the rules, templates, counters, dice, terrain, and minis needed to play. Speaking of the minis, there are 13 in the new set and they are wonderful little sculpts, great detail and movement. I think this is going to be fun. Now I just need to avoid diving into the deep end and trying to acquire everything. Anyone who has been following this blog will know I have failed to restrain myself. Despite still not having played the game I have just about every character made and two thirds of them are painted. At least I'm getting some good work done.

Black Swan Doesn't Look Delicate
Black Swan wasn’t part of the original Black Order so I know nothing about her. Her card show an impressive four threat with eye beams and a solid hit. The figure is fun with a wonderfully expressive face. Another fun one to paint.
Black Dwarf Dwarfs Other Figures With His Massive Size!
This guy is huge! I mean, he’s even bigger than Immortal Hulk and he is a big, green guy. For such big miniature assembly was straight forward and painting went quickly. This is going to be a tough affiliation that seems to thrive on Attrition rather than Objective Scoring.
Ebony Maw is the First of the Black Order to be Completed
Ebony Maw is one creepy character. I do like that AMG combined the comic book looks of the Black Order with the films’ look. None of Thanos’ elite troops are especially loyal to him with each betraying him in different story lines. Ebony Maw ditches his master to free Thane, the prodigal son, instead of turning him over to Thanos. They are all a slippery, un-trustworthy lot that should be interesting on the game table
Loki, God of Mischief is Painted and Ready to Sow Chaos
I’m a little backwards in that I finished Painting the newer version of Loki (Prince of Lies) before I painted the first. Being a completist means I don’t care what order they are done in as long as I paint all of them. As I haven’t played either character yet I am looking forward to seeing how different they are.
Cabal Gains a New Leader- Sinthea Schmidt AKA- Sin!
I didn’t know that the Red Skull had gotten busy and had a family, well a descendent actually. I don’t recall running into her in my comics reading but she looks dangerous. Also looks like she has some interesting synergy with Crossbones. Cabal and Hydra are both high on my list of affiliations to try out.
Viper Strikes!
I have no memory of running into this character in my years of comic reading but she’s got a fun design. Gotta love a lady in deep green lipstick though. Like just about everything I’ve painted to date, I have no idea how she will perform on the game table. She did fine on the painting table.
Like a Bat Out of Hel comes Hela, Daughter of Odin.
Another villainous Asgardian is finished. I always liked her in the comics though only remember a few stories she was in but Cate Blanchett was terrifying as Hel in the MCU. I have no idea how she plays in the game but she seems formidable.
Reports From the Painting Table
I’m heading to a local game convention this weekend (DunDraCon in Santa Clara, CA) so have been quite busy with getting ready for that and have had less time to paint. I have made some progress, however.
Zemo and Black Dwarf finished. Began working on the blue parts of Thanos as well as black and red on several figures.
