About the Project

This project is a reimagining of a classic Dwarf army into an all-Slayer force, bringing the fierce and tragic warriors of Warhammer Fantasy to life in a unique and thematic way. Each unit in the army, from the Slayer-Rangers to Slayer-Gyrocopters, has been carefully converted to embody the relentless spirit and tragic honor of the Dwarven Slayers. Beyond just crafting custom models, the project delves deep into the lore, weaving rich narratives and campaigns like "The Cursed Oath" to give this army a distinct identity. This project aims to create a visually striking and deeply immersive army that not only stands out on the battlefield but also tells a compelling story of sacrifice, vengeance, and unyielding resolve.

Amazonian Dwarf - Sotek Slayers
Amazonian Dwarf - Sotek Slayers

A slight deviation from my usual content, I bring you my Amazonian Dwarfs – Slayers of Sotek.

These are to Amazons as Imperial Dwarfs are to The Empire.

Built for an upcoming Mordheim campaign set in the jungle, I drew inspiration from Total War: Warhammer and its Dwarf clan dwelling in the Spine of Sotek, this warband imagines a Slayer cult that has embraced the vibrant warrior culture of Lustria; a fusion of jungle ferocity and Dwarfen stubbornness, ready to carve a bloody path through the ruins of the Southlands in search of worthy doom.

Sky Slayers

Matteo Donzelli’s Skydrakes AKA My Skyslayers have been a real blast to paint.

I took a very different approach to paint these in comparison to the rest of my army, and as I hope is obvious drew a lot of inspiration from WW2 P-47 Thunderbolts.

If I had stuck with the same approach as what had come before, they would be heavy steel with brown leathers, instead we have this baremetal finish with fun patterns and freehands.

To achieve this I watched far too many scale model YouTubers that have now taken over my algorithm, and bought to many scale modelling products but…MIG Panel Liners..game changer.

As for the sculpts, they are great. If I could I would love

▪Long Range Fuel Tank options instead of bombs
▪Different gun options
▪Extra-Wide Wings (“Quetzalcoatl” version?)
▪Wind Shield (Print in clear resin?)
▪Slayer Head options (I know I made my own but I am lazy)

Axe and Oath 2nd Birthday

Axe & Oath 2nd Anniversary

Before I begin, I want to thank two groups of people: Weasels and Kazuk Kazuk (You know who you are). You are a great support, and I look forward to continuing to share the future of this endeavour with you.

This account is officially two years old now. I celebrated its first birthday with an army shot. For my 2nd, I have photographed everything I have painted in the last year.

My plans last year were overly ambitious, and due to some external factors, a broken airbrush, and back pain, I failed to achieve them. That doesn’t bother me because I still had a productive year.

The Wyrmslayers are my favourite unit out of everything I painted, but the Rune Golems and Baggage Train are certainly up there.

*The Gyrombombers were so close to getting in under the deadline, they are about 75% complete, but alas, it wasn’t to be.

**The Grudge Throwers were cancelled and replaced with some Doom ‘Seeker’ Divers. They have been designed and printed, and are now on the workbench, so they will likely be completed by the end of 2025.

Coming up, I am excited to work on:

@miniatureland_Design Gigantic Fire Wagon – Will use as a Siege Tower
@Eskice Miniatures Dwarf Chariots – Count as Bugman’s Cart
Mordheim ‘Lustrian’ Warband – Gives me a break from the snow.

Thank you, everyone, for your continued support.

Matched Play Secret Objective Cards

I created some dwarf inspired secret objective cards from the TOW Matched Play Guide. I used MSE before anyone asks

Obsidian Rune Golems

Two Obsidian Rune Golems by Kyoushenko Miniatures. Both scaled up to max out a 100x150mm base so that in TOW I can use the Cathayan Sentinel rules for them (In a friendly game).

Rune Guardian Golem C
Rune Guardian Golem D

I followed Warhipster Painting Tutorial on how to paint obsidian, and Part Time Table Topper tutorial on how to paint glowing runes

Baggage Train
Baggage Train

With the new Matched Play TOW rules it gave me an excuse to make a Bugmans Lament inspired Baggage Train. Unlike the original, I couldn’t get the Steam Tank Wheels.

And it is still in need of a driver but I consider it done nonetheless

I custom-made the decal myself by converting the real-world Bugman’s Trollbrew beer logo (from Warhammer World) into a hand-painted style Old World advertising poster. With the help of ChatGPT, I turned it into a clean decal design, exported it into ODR format, and had it printed onto waterslide paper.

A tiny nod to lore, hobby creativity, and good ale! 🍺

I’ll be honest—I’ve never really been big on painting characters. For me, the effort-to-reward ratio just hasn’t felt worth it. I often find that no matter how much time I spend on a character model, it doesn’t end up looking much better than a well-painted rank-and-file unit. And that can be a bit disheartening.

That said, I’ve been trying to push myself this year. Whether it’s getting cleaner blends, adding a bit more contrast, or just focusing on one miniature at a time, I’m giving character painting another go. Josef Bugman was part of that push—and while I still see room to grow, I’m happy I took the time.
