I splashed out on a desert spray for this guy. then slapped on contrast paint, finally minimal highlights, just to look like some effort went into it.

been a while but check this guy out!

i played around with a white oil pin wash for this guy and then dyed the white with baharoth blue edge paint

it came out great and he really does pop when stood next to his terminator support squad.

He’ll take the pain the enemies of the emperor without a doubt and do it in style. Chuffed with how he turned out.

Space Marines assemble!

Here I have doubled the flamer boys to a squad of 10 + the special character. I understand they’ll ruin things the drop pod deepstrike onto.

I also completed the company champion model too, I think he was a Brucey Bonus magazine issue.

I quite like that the more powerful the model the bigger the base size is, I hadn’t really noticed that in 40k previously with the exception of monstrous creatures and flyers.

nice easy squad of tactical dreadnaught armour toting badasses.

I didn’t go fancy with these fellas and stuck with the big chunky highlights.

I also swapped to green for the lights and purity seals, makes it contrast in a much more appealing way than the purple

This is the magazine only model.

they flew off the shelves quite quickly and had lots of people trying to sell them off for a profit.

I quite like what i did with the flames on this one, did it very quickly with contrast paint so not hard but effective.

Because he’s a ‘special’ model i bestowed on him a ‘special’ decal for the fast attack/close support. a big old GW skull with speciality void. maybe it’s to denote him being a veteran, or a sergeant, or both…. who knows! looks cool though.

Final few 'nids

I think I’ve found my jam with these guys now, didn’t take too long to sort these final fellas out even with kids roaming around the place.

There is one sneaky Prime boi left, but I’m not certain i will do anything with him at this stage, he may stay on the sprue forever! like all true GW models should.

Anyway, a nice little foray into the Tyranid faction. I am glad i’ve done it and the mini-hoard looks great on the shelf.

Combat Partol 1 completed…. tick

Gold star for me!

It was quite nice painting these nids to be honest, I’ve never done it before and it was fun to use a contrast paint and not hate the results.

I’ll admit that i have got some more nids to do, another psychophage and a group of von ryans leapers. given how cheap they were  (£10 and £6) it seemed silly not to, you’ll see them shortly i guess.

now, was this a cheap way of buying this ‘army’. Yes, but also no… It was definitely cheaper than buying them separately but all these models actually come in the starter set. I spent £60 and for another £7.50 i could have had a load of free space marines, but given that the combat patrol box is £100 it is still cheaper. Just shows that the value of the starter sets are there, if they contain what you want!
