About the Project

The first white dwarf i eve read had a glorious battle report, pitching the Ultramarines against the Eldar. Ive recently come into possession of enough models that i can now build the ultramarine side and decided i'm going to own the army i so loved to read about as a kid.

It’s coming together.

Still need to print out some mirrored parts to colour the backs of some parts.

Once that’s done I can put the walkway on the generator and the barricade bits and that’s all that’s left.

Next up will be basing the thing. Given the towers can be taken off I’ll base those separately.

Bonus Entry - Storage

Whilst this isn’t the most exciting post, I found this morning I can fit the entire thing in a 10ltr storage tub from hobbycraft (UK)

This has now solved my storage issue and helped note which bits need to stay separate.

A fully operational firebase!

I have to admit I’m pretty pleased at how this turned out.

It definitely needs to sit on a green mat to really hit those nostalgia feels but actually having it physically in my possession after probably a month of working on it is really nice.

Not entirely sure why the pictures are upside down, when you click on them they are the right way.

But anyway, it’s alive!!

Made a few adjustments so I could detach all the extra pieces for storage. Also had to adapt some plug in pieces as the prints I did were just slightly off scale.

I was thinking about painting the bare cardboard but did it on the landing pad section and thought it looked pants so I’m gonna leave it as is.

Most pieces are hot glued together for strength so definitely do not look under the thing, it’s a real mess in there.

It all just about fits in a 10ltr storage box so that’s a proper win for me.

I doubt I’ll base it as I’d like it to sit on any gaming table and not be on the ‘wrong’ base. Only issue here is some of the pieces don’t hit the ground and I haven’t a clue how to fix this without it looking naff. For now I’m fine with it.

Next up I need to finish the details of the ultramarines and then get the eldar models together.

I might even try and source the right sergeant for the marines as that’s starting to niggle at me a bit.

For now though I’m gonna close this project off. It’s been a blast and really interesting doing the cardboard terrain, maybe the bastion will get done one day…maybe.

Golden Button!

It must have been a slow week at beasts of war as they have kindly given me a golden button 😀

Thanks for all the kind words all, been a great project to be getting through.
