About the Project

I have a big box of Epic scale ACW. And then I had the crazy idea to paint them as seen in photos … in greyscale! Clearing a project off the shelves, and doing something totally wacky could be fun, right?

I’ve had the Gettysburg ACW epic box for … a long time. It’s been up for sale a couple of times, never seems to go. Inside are actually a lot more than the box came with, too. I’ve got boxes of commanders, casualties, tons of extra terrain… it is FULL.

The idea behind this was to find inspiration to actually paint these. Looking at my book on Shiloh, it hit me: paint them as seen in contemporary photos – in greyscale/black & white.

So over winter I’ve been adding books on ACW photography to the pile. Nothing like making a pile larger …
