About the Project

I started painting up models for the Egypt expansion of The Silver Bayonet ages ago, but can't find a record of it amongst my projects. I never finished the project and wasn't fully happy with the progress I had made on some of the paint jobs. It seems like a good excuse to record the efforts as a Spring Clean Challenge.

Years ago Zombie and Camel on the same internet search would have been a Googlewhack. But now it felt natural to inquire as to when, not if, we can expect to see a zombie camel in our war games. Northstar provided this metal monster and I am happier for it. Years ago Zombie and Camel on the same internet search would have been a Googlewhack. I used some watered down Blood for the Blood God paint where I went for the gore. Didn't think this zombie in the desert would be that wet and gooey. I think there's a mix of Morghast Bone, Zandri Dust for the base until I was happy, a dry brush of Wraithbone and some gore and highlights for the exposed bones.I used some watered down Blood for the Blood God paint where I went for the gore. The conscript will be an interesting one to look up from a gameplay point of view. I followed the box art again on this scheme. The robes went from an Iraqi Sand brush on prime, to Wraithbone base and a Corax White highlight. The conscript will be an interesting one to look up from a gameplay point of view. I saw in the box art that someone had some care to choose different tones of black to differentiate from the different types of clothing.I saw in the box art that someone had some care to choose different tones of black to differentiate from the different types of clothing.
I used Shyish Purple for the turban. A mix of Macragge Blue and Black Legion Contrast for the cloak and just Black Legion for the robes underneath. I used Shyish Purple for the turban. A mix of Macragge Blue and Black Legion Contrast for the cloak and just Black Legion for the robes underneath.

I already had a Mameluke from Gringo40s. I already had a Mameluke from Gringo40s.
This version is quite different, I think I prefer the Gringo version, but this is still a good model. The cuffs were fun to paint. A wide gold band laid down and then parted with a red line to make it look more intricate. This version is quite different, I think I prefer the Gringo version, but this is still a good model. I picked up some 3D printed Knucklebones skellies before I even got the book, confident that if any skeletons in the game didn't actually have a ranged attack I would find a way to crowbar them into the game.I picked up some 3D printed Knucklebones skellies before I even got the book, confident that if any skeletons in the game didn't actually have a ranged attack I would find a way to crowbar them into the game.
The first attempt was a bit rushed. After a Spring clean they didn't look a lot different, but I tidied a few bits that I knew I wasn't happy with. The first attempt was a bit rushed. After a Spring clean they didn't look a lot different, but I tidied a few bits that I knew I wasn't happy with.
I am happier with these now. Now I have the book it's clear I will need to find a bodge way to get these models involved but I'm looking forward to it.I am happier with these now.
