Row, row, row a boat....
I finally managed to do some hobby. I only got a 1:200 scale rowboat together as that was all my body really allowed me to do, but I got something done! Bananaman for scale.
What is this project?
Another one of my offshoot ideas that may not come to fruition? Maybe…. As I go through some time of bad health and depression I tend to switch my interests in order to renew my hobby and use it to help me out of said depression.
This project is going to be my voyage into the world of 10mm privateers and piracy. I want to play games akin to Blood & Plunder in 10mm. Now exactly what game and which miniatures I am going to use is still a bit of a question. 1:200 scale model ships are roughly the same scale as 10mm wargaming figures apparently. I do have a 1:200 model ship kit that I still have to build and might buy a couple more to use as scenery pieces for such a game. Even if this scale does not work I will turn them in a diorama.
The thing I want to primarily make is a Dutch privateer force from the 17th century akin to the forces of Piet Heyn. This is presenting me with a big problem and that is the severe lack of miniatures from this era in 10mm. I may have to resort to such practices as 3D printing sadly. However that does not mean I am not going to explore other options first. Pendraken does make a handful of 10mm pirates and I might be able to use some 10mm ECW musketeers in addition to make a Dutch privateer force in 10mm. We’ll see what I’ll use.
So, the start of this project will mostly see me going over the Golden Hind kit in 1:200 from Heller. And over the course of time we will see where this goes.
