About the Project

My ever growing Kingdom Death collection, sorted by what armour type they are wearing, not by what box they came in or when I painted them. This is to help me and others work out what weapon and armour combos already exist so people can build their modular sprues with more confidence.

Terrain comes as card tiles in the box, but I’ve made some upgrades.

Here’s my notes on painting the ground/stone:

Base: P3 Trollblood Highlight (can also use Mission Models MMW-006 Transparent Dust, or 4:1 or 5:1 msp ghoul skin : AP Banshee Brown)

Light overbrush/heavy drybrush: GW Karak Stone

Heavy-Medium drybrush: GW Screaming Skull or P3 Jack Bone

Drybrush: P3 Menoth White Highlight

Finally, I took an old soft drybrush and rubbed lots of Vallejo Pigments 73.111 Green Earth in to everything, tapped off the excess, and then airbrush varnished everything immediately. (I tried a different pigment first on one tile and didn’t like it. For some reason it didn’t fade as much as the green I put over it)

The pigment is almost completely gone, but has some effect. I really need a way to make it stay as a powder/dust when I varnish. I’ve never quite got the hang of pigments.

Below, in order:

3d printed terrain from a freely available STL pack.  I ran out of resin, but one day I’ll print more.
Dead body: Its the “Murder Victim” sculpt from the Gamblers Chest.
Statue, front and back.  A failed 3d print on an odd base I had lying around.
Tall Grass.  I made a full set of these.  It’s a bit of an abstraction, as the whole tile should be tall grass, but then where do you put the models?
Acanthus herbs.

Some models don’t belong in the game or the lore, and defy grouping in to categories.  I’ll add them all here as I paint them.

Below, in order:

Nightmare Adam (Gamblers Chest)
Scifi Aya (Gamblers Chest)
Father and Son (Gamblers Chest)
Gourmet Hunter Anna & Milkshake (Gamblers Chest)
The Damsel (Lion Knight box)
The Fool (Lion Knight box)
The Ruler (Lion Knight box)
The Villain (Lion Knight box)

They exist in the lore and in plastic, but not currently in game.  I keep seeing sculpts I think are such characters.

Below, in order:

Romantic Adventurer (Gamblers Chest): Male with dagger and scythe

There’s a few White Speakers out there too.  I’ve painted one, and have another on my table right now.  I may have more on preorder.

The Black Knight And His Followers

The Black knight seems to come with his own new armour kits.  I’ve not played the mini campaign yet so I don’t know anything about them.  I’ll revisit this post and redo my filing once I know more.

Below, in order:

Caine
Count
Earl
Elle
Marchioness
Ola
Owen

Bullfrogdog

The Bullfrogdog is a more powerful version of the Frogdog and uses the same sculpt.  it does have a different armour set though, so it can have it’s own entry for tracking, once I’ve painted something.
