About the Project
I have a stack of terrain that needs to be built and painted. What a swell time to get on it. Will also be used for 40K!

All aboard… ing actions?
While sorting the deck chairs on my own personal Titanic of a collection (the house is slowly sinking, I swear…), I dug out the Kill Team Boarding Action set I have. Surprise! It’s painted (an add on set of a few pieces aren’t). And it attracted the attention of my Yorkie, for my first ever dog-in-photo shot. Her name is Pitou, which is slangy Québécois for “little one”.
The big question with this set is …
– do I leave it painted as is?
– do I re-do it to match the OD primed stuff I’ve been working on?
Basic ruins
A set of GW’s 40K ruins. Quick build, prime with Olive Drab, highlight airbrush with IJA Parched Grass and then IDF Sand. Metal was AK Oily Steel with GW Nuln Oil wash. Skulls primer Sand, GW contrast Skeleton Horde. Simple, done. Took two days.
Arvus Lighter D34
Finished the lighter today; highlighted the surfaces, added decals, varnished, and finally got to glue on the canopy.
Some friends of mine (I have 5), asked for a “night shot”. Here it is.
Oily shade.
GW Nuln Oil doing some heavy lifting as a shade on the upper and side surfaces. Almost there…
Build complete, painting now …
The build stage is complete! I pre-primed several of the parts as I’ve done all along the way. The cockpit isn’t glued on, but is fully finished – it will be glued on dead last as I want the glass to be clear. That was fussy to get it painted!
more work to come.
This Arvus is LIT 🔥
With the top on, the interior lighting really does the job! Two small magnets and a cheap Amazon light 👍
Mask and spray…
A bunch of masking, spraying, and then… waiting. Painted the inside of what will be the roof of the interior.
Get to the (Arvus) Lighter!
Having learned my lesson from the Impulsor build to paint before assembly, I worked on the interior of the Arvus Lighter kit the past couple of days. I even ordered some micro lights which will bring this to life, I think.
This will be an objective – like, say, a chopper in a game based on Predator.
And once assembled (bottom half of the Lighter), things are looking up. The cockpit will be in an “up” position, so I had to build out the pilot’s compartment – I used plastic card to make the control stick complete (had to remove a hand).
