Hawk Wargames New Releases For Dropzone Commander
February 19, 2013 by brennon
Hawk Wargames certainly have been busy behind the scenes it seems. Check out some of their releases for February and March that will expand your Dropzone Commander experience...
Every faction looks to have been catered for in this release and the miniatures are looking much, much better than the earlier waves. The level of detail seems to have been ramped up a considerable degree and we have some fancy looking vehicles and troops to play with.
I'm fairly certain that I would be grabbing the Post-Human Republic if I started Dropzone Commander simply because of those Erebos Strike Walkers.
Are you a Dropzone Commander fan looking for new vehicles?
Let me know what you think of this new selection below.

Some of them look impressive, but not enough to part me from my cash.
What is tha UCM vehicle for I wonder. :/ Is it some kind of mobile airfield?
” *ARGH, It be the plank me hearty* “
Weee ! Annihilator !
Love the looks of the new figures and still love the look of the old ones.
But…
I still won’t buy any of them at the retarded prices they’re charging.
I have maybe a hundred bucks into my post human army it all fits into a case the size of a kids lunch box. The models are fantastic the game moves quick and you can download terrain IE buildings and print them, then slap together for free.
For those who are reading this thread and on the fence cocerning this game. Pay no mind to the negaative remarks from the same bone heads who don’t even own any of it.
Also keep in mind that the same people were to even get a small whiff of GW plastic, it almost always sends them into auto pilot. Which is easy to identify for it usually starts with the infected bending over and grabbing their own ankles.
Its awesome and it is flying off the shelves worlwide, to the point they are having trouble keeping up with the demand for it.
Here is a battle report from blue table painting they do much better job at coverage of game
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYju8zEzeCA
If it’s flying off the shelves, why isn’t there a single store in my country carrying it, and why is there absolutely 0 interest beyond “How nice..HOW MUCH FOR 10MM MODEL?”? Seriously, I love the concept, I love the models, and every half a year I get into the mood to get into the game. Then I realize I will be the only one, and for all the money you still end up with “minis to fit a “childrens’ lunchbox”, which unless the sizes differe from country to country, means it’s about the size of a large wallet. That’s just too low a money:product ratio for me. Seriously, seeing how the models all use like, 4-5 different chassis’ per faction, this is prime target for going Kickstarter into plastic. Bring the price down, and these WILL fly off the shelves.
You must either be from poland or of very weak constitution to the point you have no ability to research for yourself.
http://6inchmove.wordpress.com/tag/hawk-wargames/
10 mm or not is irrelevant the money required to play this game is nothing compared just about everything else.
It also took my whole gaming group about 4 months to get the stuff in from local gaming warehouse due to demand. That is still a problem but getting better since they bought a bigger place to produce and house the game.
Do some research

I am, as it is, from Poland in fact. But even on your usual gaming sites, I see pretty minimal amount of talk about the game, which is a bit suspicious.
As for “nothing compared to just about everything else”, that’s a lie, sir, and a foul lie. A starter set, at a discounter, is 62 pounds, and that gets you absolute minimum. A starter for Infinity is about 27 pounds, so I can have two and still afford a blister pack for the game, which exceeds the number of models in DzC starter AND is enough to play a large battle. A starter set for Warmahordes is 31 pounds, as the game is pretty expensive, and though you only get 4 models, three of them are pretty damn large. For 30 I could get a starter for Dystopian Wars, and for 36 for Firestorm, both of which have more models (of similiar size) and more units too. I am sorry, but the game is helliciously expensive compared to anything but GW and Warmachine.
Wow. The air must be really thin up on top of that high horse of yours.
That was aimed at Dawnpatrolchapter by the way not you Poks – I actually agree with everything you typed.
I’m with you.
OK- well I am sure there will be games that are cheaper…
However one thing I have noticed about a good chunk of you people, who do piss and moan all the time. I mean you guys sound like you squat when you go to pee. Because the crying is always about money.
Which reminds me of my wife she always cries about how much it costs to be in this hobby.
You little campers need to find a fistful of toilet paper and dry your lil eye’s there and ask yourself a few questions.
Why do you guys post on threads of games that you just dont like ?
even though none of you dip shits have ever played it…
Oh thats right it costs too much to try it,
in order to form a valid opinion to post here.
We will come back to that.
Is everything that you try to enjoy in life always based on the price tag and whether you can justify that pay out or not ?
I sit and ponder at this point what is the purpose of any hobby if it has to run in tandem with whatever you think is worthy price wise or not.
Example gotta buddy who is all about jumping out of planes.
My bro goes out and drops like six grand on a parachute- which is cool…
However he only jumps maybe four or five times in one year due to work and time constraints. Hold on, he is one of the happiest dudes I know because he finally got that parachute…
If it is the money that moves you instead of all the different aspects that are contained within this hobby. Then what is it that really makes you happy.
Look I got the game its really cool and alot of fun and I look forward to either making this army bigger or buying another to get the feel of how it works.
OK
I am glad your brother is a happy fellow with his parachute jumping, would really like to do that myself. However, I don’t think I could justify that expense to myself, wish I could.
Sometimes we have to live to our limits and money means different things to different people. Some people have more of it than others, which often changes our view on the matter. Just because someone suggests that it is to expensive for them does not mean they are hating the game. It just indicates that it maybe out of their budget at this time to try it out. By the looks of it @manpug was agreeing with @poks that they love the concept and models but they would be the only ones in the area with them and they seem an expensive range, so it would not be financially sound for them to pay into this game.
No one is belittling your enjoyment of the game, because it is your valid viewpoint. As is @manpug and @poks view that it is too expensive. If you want other people to value your viewpoint, you must first display an ability to accept theirs.
Mick
P.s. Sorry if I have trodden on your toes and spoken out of turn here @manpug and @poks. I to know no one that plays this game and share a similar view to your own. But please don’t take this as me speaking on behalf of yourselves.

Well Mick
Right but when you see a pattern develop it would indicate something else.
Example, one of the biggest turn offs for me concerning like GW isn’t the game of 40k, but the players.
You have this collective of people who play the game for tourneys no problem here.
Then you have a group that is not really into hardcore playing but more so the art side of it and spend countless hours painting and kit bashing to create just the most awesome armies to look at. really have no problems here as well.
But then you have yet another group of people who buy an army and read the rule books for hours on end, just to go down to the LGS. To set up a game and then sit there and argue the rules or how they understand them to be, for 3 or four hours.
I have a problem with that group of people there and most people who ever have played do, as well.
So when you see a definitive pattern that is always negative on everything but only one game then it bares to reason what is really transpiring.
Granted one could very well claim that it is all relative, and remains in the eye of the beholder.
…but where is the fun in that ? 🙂
If they really can not afford it then hey my bad but it sure seemed to be otherwise.
In neck of the woods you have I don’t know what to call it. I guess “Nerd Wars”
Freaking gamers around here all go at each other about which game is better and your this if you play or dont play any one certain game.
I get caught in the middle alot because one week I will walk in with malifaux or warmahordes or even knock the dust off of my 40k. Now I even have expanded into dropzone.
I don’t really know if its a war gamer thing or just a geek thing due to abunch of players being cherry because they are to busy gaming to get laid.
Magic players dont like mini war gamers and if you play like flames of war your an old fart reverse spin if you play 40k ETC…
Its all stupid but it seems to me that at times you see the same mentality bleed over in this forum and else where online.
To bring it back around if you have nothing good to say then why post just move to a section where you do have something good to say thats all.
First of all, you need a massive, suppository-delivered chill-pill, because you sound like a hysterical lady right now. No offense to ladies prone to hysteria.
Second, no one here actually “hates” the game. What we’re saying is that the game is objectively speaking, very expensive for a toy soldiers game. Up there with GW and Warmahordes. That is a large hurdle for a new game. So if you actually wanted the game to grow, instead of…I don’t know, pushing fingers into your ears and going “lalalala it’s perfect!”, you’d realize it needs new players, and price IS a sensitive point when numerous games compete. I am sure your skydiving friend also looks at pricetags of the parachutes (among other things) and doesn’t just go into the store and pick one at random. Same with any hobby. So yes, if I feel like I am notgetting my money’s worth, I will not buy something, and that is, in general, a good idea. I have a very nice used sock if you want for 500$ if you don’t mind what you spend your money on, used only once..today.
Ah Ha I knew it a freaking rules lawyer LMFAO a polish one to boot
Quit trolling

I at one time was single and could spend as I wish. Now that I’m happily married I don’t just make decisions on my own. I need to take her into account. I cut my hobby money down considerably and must choose what I think is a worthy choice. For the time being I don’t think this will be the game or models that I can get. I did mention that I think some of them look great and justly so. But to label many of us as dip shits is just taking it far. I admire your passion for the game but your ultimately harming this game by lashing out at others. Every game needs criticism so it can become better and I hope you see it that way @dawnpatrolchapter
Ah come on @manpug
Thats no fair you should know by now that I am only over the top for the fun of it…
Don’t take my mindless rambles serious thats no fun, look if I had bought the game and it played like crap I would of said so to stop you guys from making the same mistake. I am only asking for a little bit of credit here, not alot
We have all bought into crap games that haven’t made it.
I bought into arcane legions and it hit bottom pretty quick… I would not say Dropzone is good if it is not, ok.
The game is fast , relentless and you can blast through a game in about an hour or so. The rules are well written period just try the damn thing thats all
Man look if you guys were local I would have you run it and see for yourself
As far as being a dip shit dude my ole lady has called me worse than that over the last 17 yrs. so relax just tired of this oh I can’t get my gaming on with anything new gig.
That seems to be transpiring atm besides its only money and if you live in the states and get a divorce your X gets all of your cash flow. So my strategy is to invest it into my hobbies, where your wealth should retain its value shit man I hear that GW plastic holds it better than gold atm… 🙂
I don’t see how you can possibly compare the prices for the models of Dystopian wars and the ones you get for Dropzone commander.
While there is nothing wrong with the Dystopian models, the Dropzone commander models are in another league. Aesthetics aside (although I’d argue if you thought the Dystopian models were better, you’d be saying such a thing to be contrite), the material the models are made of is much better (this is something the maker is proud of).
Then there is the design of the actual models themselves, in that the Dropzone models actually all work to scale. Everything can in fact fit in and “work”. All drop ships (excluding the Shaltari for obvious reasons) can actually fit the tanks and other vehicles in it.
Does it bear mentioning the differences in the actual game systems; the dystopian factions are all pretty similar with just a few rule changes here and there, whereas the 4 factions here are completely unique?
Dropzone commander is obviously being marketed at the high end; if you want the models to be cheaper, then the models would have to be made out of a cheaper material, which in turn would lead to less detail. And if you want that, then why not buy Dystopian Wars in the first place?
And really we’re bringing up Infinity? 6 models for 25-30 quid? That’s not exactly cheap. If we want to compare apples and oranges, I can pick up a pack of plastic soldiers from the local toy shop for about 2.

I really love the Post Humans. I’m off to buy a starter and a blister or three now.
I am really starting to hate this game…………. Almost all the factions look awesome and I can’t decide. I just have to get them all I guess. lol
It is just personal preference but I don’t like the organic feel of some of the models, they are nice cultps but not for me.
Well glad to see that the prices are mental…
He’s one guy in his basement …
I love the look of this stuff but I don’t know anyone that plays it. 🙁
Erebos reminds me of Metal Gear Rex.
Sure to get some of these 🙂
It’s true the prices seem a little off-putting, especially given the size. But the prices are not that different for resin and small companies. This is one guy remember. It is expensive, sure, but it’s some of the best resin out there. I have some myself, as a treat, and the models are beautiful. Not just awesome, but beautiful as well.
The reality is he simply can’t offer these models cheaper without giving them away. He’s not a large corporation, he’s one man.
I hear very good reports about this game, but every time I look at the models my mind sorta goes blank (no cheeky comments please 😛 ). I am not really sure what I am looking at most of the time tbh. ships with lots of lolly sticks coming out of it? :S
Horses for courses I say. I hope those that like it, are please for these new models. 🙂
Just keeps looking better and better i really like the look of this game tho no one round here seems to be intrested in playing it
@Dawnpatrol
>Ah Ha I knew it a freaking rules lawyer LMFAO a polish one to boot
First of all, nice racism there, bro.
Second of all and more importantly, I have to ascertain one fact- are you perhaps mentally disabled? Because I genuinely don’t want to make fun of a handicapped person.
On the assumption you’re actually not clinically retarded, and only acting so, I have to ask, why do you hate DzC so much that you troll BoW topics to make DzC players look like idiots? I mean I honestly don’t care that you’re making an ass out of yourself on the internet (pretty poor too, 1/10 is all I’d give you), but if I were the owner of Hawk Wargames I’d be seriously concerned.
Of course the best way to deal with someone you think is being racist, is to call someone mentally disabled.
As opposed to maybe just ignoring the post completely or reporting it to moderators
Going back on topic, I’ll say that these models are lovely; if I had the spare time (currently dealing with a stroppy 7 week old girl) or the room in my house (nappies everywhere) I’d be very tempted by this game (yes despite the price).
Hopefully there will be a few videos sometime in the future showing off how this game is played; Beastsofwar pretty much got me and my friend into Warmachine.
For what it is worth, there was in the most recent Dropzone letter, talk about a cardboard building book…thing. I know, a fully grown man getting worked up over cardboard.
@poks relax just joking around remember I am only a box of text on a computer screen and have no place in your world around you. If one can not laugh at themselves they can not laugh at the world either and life is too short.
@fleetey blue table painting has done a great job covering this game, As far as warmachine goes ya BoW got me into that one too. My opinion is any purchase made from Privateer Press is money well spent. It seems to be a company made up of gamers like us.
I fisrt saw this game here during a on the table episode I hope they do give this game some focus. I had no idea how good it was til after the fact. Also the rule book is all color and art work is great.
I probably jacked up a few people but it appears they weren’t going to give it a shot anyway. “Shrug”
I am on the fence on whether I should just increase the size of my army or just buy a little of each faction to learn all the different strategies because they do all play really different from each other with both strong and weak points.
This game will only get bigger in my opinion the serious gamers will try it.

Ah yes, pulling the old “I was only joking folks” after you make a massive clown of yourself..sorry, but no. I am relaxed, but you’re still a giant assmuffin who doesn’t have the good grace to admit he pissed his pants when someone didn’t like what he likes.
Dude where ya been I make a clown out of myself quite a bit I am actually pretty good at it.
If everyone liked everything that I did this would be a very boring forum and really no reason to converse. My objective was simple I did not want to see this article go by with only 4 or 5 replies and most of them being negative from people who havent even played the game as per usual here.
So I took it upon myself to pimp slap a few just to raise the comments here and hopefully drag in some more people.
Much to my pleasent surprize alot of people here do play and like the game. Which is awesome 🙂 Maybe I could of waited to see all the responses.
Look @poks you can go and play with yourself for all I care doesnt really matter what you play.
Wait I got a better idea

So instead you shitposted? Anyway, despite the price, as I said, I do like thegame, so I might’ve even gotten some when the tax returns arrive. Thankfully, there’s a zero chance I will now, I’d be too afraid to meet someone like you since apparently the game tends to draw in mouthbreathers. Will in fact talk a friend who was dead-set on the game from it.
tl;dr called the cops, the army, the GW lawyers and won’t bother with the game ever again, good job.
WOW. Calm down, buckos. It’s a game.
Yes, it IS a bit expensive for what you get, but I’ve put $200 into my UCM so far, and am more then happy with it. Even if it IS a bit on the pricey side for the point values of the miniatures, the sculpts are great and the game very nice. Well done, Hawk: I’ll be playing for many years to come.
The real shame is when you compare the miniatures and their cost to Spartan games, and especially Dystopian Wars. That is when you realize just HOW MUCH MORE the DzC minis are then other, comparable models on the market. I play both, and I’ve sunk half the cost into DW, and gotten twice the volume of awesome minis.
I believe that this upstart is awesome, I play 40k, Infinity and Warmahordes and all are different. I just got into DzC and I’m very impressed not only on the figures but in the game system. It really feels like this guys poured his heart into creating this game.
Kudos 🙂
Brother G
If we can all avoid the nastiness it would be appreciated, it just clouds the issue.
I have a growing force of PHR and UCM and I think the game is brilliant. I will definitely be getting the new stuff for both of these factions. I have noticed that outside of the two main DzC Forums there appears to be a lack of a DzC presence. Do not mistake this for a lack in popularity or even a lack in quality. It took the other games years to get where they are today. DzC has only been around in terms of months rather than years and I’m not sure I have seen a faster take-up before. The game is targeted towards the higher end of the market but you get what you pay for. The resin is the best I have ever worked with and the sculpts speak for themselves. The rules are far more elegant than anything I have seen previously and maintaining game balance is clearly a primary concern for Hawk. I have been playing GW/FoW for years, but now I am drawing a line in my GW collection and will be selling off all of my GW projects that aren’t painted yet. I know it is probably too much to expect from the internet, but qualified comments are far more useful to everyone than just ‘shooting from the hip pocket’.
