Infinity Table Chat #2 – The Desert Palace
October 15, 2014 by crew
We're at the half way point of the week and I think it's time we break out the next of our amazing Infinity tables we'll be using to show off more rules and changes for 3rd Edition!
The vast majority of the terrain you see here comes from the awesome folks at Plast Craft Games with the generators provided by Micro Art Studios.
What do you think to our Desert Palace?

great stuff, cant wait for the new book, and that sweet ltd bounty hunter
great looking buildings it would look better with some weathering
Looks very cool and like the re-use of the Dust table, will have to think about that myself as have a ton of stuff coming from the KS and am loving getting into Infinity!
Shrubberies!
I really want to start to learn how to build terrain…But with stuff like this I wonder why lol. Everything looks great. I think what’s holding me off most is that good looking terrain seems to call for a good painter. So I hope I can learn to paint heh. Great job guys!
We simplified the paint job on this set a lot, so don’t worry about painting… Just get stuck in 🙂
This table looks pretty cool but I definitely prefer the forest table to this one, I think I just prefer the sturdier look of the buildings on that one.
Still amazing work as usual guys.
New Dubai is born, cool look , not sure the gold is practical in the desert , but looks fantastic.
Praise NuAllah, and his followers
Gold and the desert go hand in hand 🙂
I’ve been lucky enough to work in Dubai and the gold market did inspire this a little 🙂
Love the “desert” board, it actually looks as if could be a lost ancient city perhaps “Inka Indians” you could call it ” The new city of Gold”.
Warren are all the buildings “modular” do they break down into individual pieces afterwards and therfore built it in such a way that you can vary the layout on the board or have glued large sections together to make it easier to setup?
Hey julian,
The terrain is modular and this took A LOT of pieces. Check out Plast Craft Games to see all the pieces used.
i just want to stick a hmg on top of one of those high towers and go dakkdadakkadakka. Really stupid idea though… Also not keen on the golden houses but that’s just personal preference.
Great job so far, keep uploading vids!
…I would have preferred it on white….But besides that it´s very cool!!!
Liking the table but i prefer the forest outpost.I like all the trees
One drawback is that you probably have to buy enough to fill a whole table with that theme of buildings. They don’t seem to mesh well with the other stuff.
Love the desert table!
i have the old plastcraft infinity terrain. I like it, it’s on the cheap compared to other options but it is quite fragile and obviously having a small apartment is kinda bulky when it’s time to store it. Battlezones can be dismantled and put in a drawer for example.
Table looks very cool keep it comming guys
Im gonna try a game hopefully next week.
Beautiful, it’s a shame there aren’t many Haqqislam players on my zone to justify a table like this
Excellent stuff guys. Sets the mind in motion for other scenics.
Sorry to say guys, but i like this board better then the other one.
Wonderful looking terrain, love this kind of themed board. Nice tips on obtaining the terrain also.
“Haqqislam are great terraformers.. these guys could grow a plant out of a rock, in deep space” – love the quote Warren! 😀
Great looking table and nice idea with the sand.
As nice as a themed table look on display – where do people store all those terrain pieces for, say, two or three different settings? My first and foremost criticism of Infinity is that you’re required to have shedloads of buildings, crates, walls etc, and anything has to be modular so you don’t have to play over the same terrain again and again. That often leads to quite ugly looking tables, and CB has yet to come up with viable solutions to match their fabulous models with equally nice terrain (not talking about H/MDF ‘LEGO look’ here).
This table looks interesting but I like more the look of the outpost on the woods.
I’m a winner
Slick looking stuff, really like the buildings from Plastcraft. Looking forward to the batrep!
Niec tip, will try yo paint wolsung buildings by parts and then glue.
Really great stuff. I have seen these buildings before but seeing them is amazing.
Good looking Table.
Oooh more pretty terrain. As if my want list wasn’t big enough already :/
Great table guys, you could try GW’ s Technical Paint to put some verdigris on the buildings to weather it a bit. Vegetation looks good with it too. 🙂
Another amazing looking table
infinity table are always amazing, and water effect will be a very good improvement!
Nice one – I have also a ” desert ” terrain project for Infinity, way different than this one 😛
Very cool looking table!
Great job guys i’m going to have to side with the forest table too personally but I would happily play on any of them! It gives you just a tiny glimpse of the variety that Infinity offers although I would say you need to add at least one gigantic creature skeleton in there somewhere a la Pitch Black. Bleach up some roast chicken bones or use one of those dinosaur fossil kits from a museum 😛
My copy of Operation Icestrom is not even in my store in Poland. I ordered my copy of O: IS July 29th. Back then CB promised to send a starter around mid September. We have mid October, I wrote two e-mails to the CB what’s going on. No replies. I understand it. Central Europe is no market for CB, USA is. Fully complete one pre-ordebefore you start the second one. Still no response to my e-mails from Corvus Belli.
Two things
Check your spam folder for any e-mails from CB I assume you’ve already done this but take a look as I know Warcor e-mails can get caught in them.
As your in Poland you’ll be getting the German translated rules correct? Are you sure that they said ALL Icestorm orders would be sent out for October or only the English-Spanish ones. Bear in mind that N3 is due for release in December is for the English-Spanish edition the translated French and German editions are going to be delayed to January.
1st.
No emails in spam folder. I have earlier mails from CB in the box.
2nd.
Poland has nothing to do with the Germans. In wargaming in Poland main language is English. And rules in MY OI will be in English-Spanish.
So two thimes wrong. So fault lies with the CB.
1st
OK well it was a suggestion as to the reason you have not received a reply yet. From my own experience as a customer well before I did any BOW stuff I got replies from CB fairly promptly but again this is my personal experience and obviously does not apply to your case
2nd
I say German as as far as I know there was to be a printed copy of the Icestom booklet produced in German and, other than Polish, the other main languages spoken in Poland are German, English and Russian. The main language for Wargamng in Poland is English as you say so I apologise for the error on my part.
I’m trying to help you out here as right now your posting the same complaints about not getting your copy of Icestorm in every thread, which isn’t going to help as I doubt CB’s shop staff are reading the comments on these videos.
If you ordered direct from the CB store then all I can suggest is you keep messaging them for an update on your order.
@I’m trying to help you out here as right now your posting the same complaints about not getting your copy of Icestorm in every thread, which isn’t going to help as I doubt CB’s shop staff are reading the comments on these videos.
I’m posting these messages to give people information about the company that is so well represented and is a professional, and they can not do the simple things.
From the time of writing the first message I received information from a reliable source that the CB deceive customers. Promising that the customer will receive the shipment of starter to 10 October. When the deadline passes, they say, they would send it to the end of October 10. Shipping is still not delivered. New information for CB – posted yesterday/today. CB asked about the number of delivery. Answer: You get no from the courier. Are we sure the shipment has been sent? Is this how trading company should behave?

That’s a big accusation to make, saying that a company would deceive their customers. You say you have this information from a reliable source but without citing this source how can we the people your looking to inform be sure of its authenticity?
I realise English is not your first language from these posts so I may not be getting this correctly but it sounds like your getting your information from a distributor of the game in your country? So in this case can we assume that you did not order directly from CB for your own order?
At least some distributors are having trouble getting their orders from CB due to volume of demand or date of placing the pre-order. Wayland have only got their pre-orders shipped today due to the volume they need to send out and they have by far the biggest order in Europe to fill right now.
@That’s a big accusation to make, saying that a company would deceive their customers. You say you have this information from a reliable source but without citing this source how can we the people your looking to inform be sure of its authenticity?
CB can sue me or ask BoW delete my posts. I do not care. I do not lie, but they are. The only thing I want was an answer to e-mails (a week from sending the first) and that what I paid for.

Well I don’t think anyone is going to do something as extreme as suing you but some more information on your situation might better inform people about their own orders with CB and if others are having the same issues then you’ll be clearly in the right.
For example did you order from CB directly or through a distributor? Your experiences in ordering and who from will inform those who choose to order N3 about who to place their order with so it would be helpful information to have.
@For example did you order from CB directly or through a distributor? Your experiences in ordering and who from will inform those who choose to order N3 about who to place their order with so it would be helpful information to have.
I ordered from local distributor(not official one). I called him many times since mid September. Each time he explained that the CB has not yet sent the order with O: Icestorm. Today he told me that he is helpless and can not do anything, because CB dictates the terms and he can only politely wait for delivery.
Official distributor also has not received those boxes. As I wrote before Poland is treated as the third world.
OK this is more useful info. Your distributor is having an issue in getting Operation Icestrom like many others have been. Who’s your “official” distributor for CB products in Poland? I’m curious as Micro Arts Studio are an “Official Partner” based in Poland but I didn’t think they were an “Official Distributor” of product as well.
I’m also curious about your earlier posts saying you had e-mailed CB and got no response. Why would you be e-mailing them about your order of Icestorm if you ordered it from a local distributor? After all they have no order with you as a customer, they have an order to fulfil with the distributor, who’s order could have been placed late or who could have ordered a significant amount of product and are experiencing the same delays as other distributors.
If you’d placed the order with CB directly then I can see why you would expect a response to e-mails inquiring about your order with them. But if your ordering through a distributor then they should be the one sending e-mails and getting replies which you seem to suggest they are getting.
For an analogy; if I order a Vallejo paint set from an online store and they are experiencing delays in delivery of new stock, why would I e-mail Vallejo themselves in Spain about the order the online store has placed and not the store themselves?

I send e-mails at [email protected].
I will not reveal the content of an email, is not directly related to my order.

For questions regarding orders is another e-mail [email protected]
And no, my local distributor is not getting aswers via email.
He must call the CB if he wants to clarify the status of the order. And still gets false info.

You think I’m stupid? As you can see I know where to direct the right questions.
Lack of response and other behavior of CB is a problem.
You are a good Advocatus Diaboli.

Sorry for possible double post. Moderation stopped first, probable cause – links
Thanks for clarifying things I can see this issue is more complex than it initially appears. I’m not sure now about your e-mailing of CB about a different order or issue as your initial posts seem to imply that its in relation to your Icestorm Order? I also don’t think anyone is intentionally misleading anyone else here an issue with the courier or shipping sounds much more plausible. Regardless I hope you get your order soon as its a great starter set and a really good springboard for Infinity 3rd edition.
@You are a good Advocatus Diaboli.
We call it “Devils Advocate” and its sort of my unoffical job in my research group. Rather than assume the data is agreeing with our models I come up with alternate explanations for the trends or scrutinise the signal for issues related to the accuracy of measurements. So I’ll take it as a complement 🙂
@I’m not sure now about your e-mailing of CB about a different order or issue as your initial posts seem to imply that its in relation to your Icestorm Order?
It is related to a delay of OI.
@I also don’t think anyone is intentionally misleading anyone else here an issue with the courier or shipping sounds much more plausible.
I know that you would like that this be a problem, but the opposite is true. CB does not want to admit that they still have a lot of unrealized orders.
They should say: “Sorry, we do not know when your order will be completed. Or give a REAL term. But they know that they have a client in a hand, and nothing he can not do. Two FALS terms, this is an outrage.
@ Regardless I hope you get your order soon as its a great starter set and a really good springboard for Infinity 3rd edition.
I have lots of Nomads and I looking forward to take a look at N3. CB seemed to be a great company, but I see that a big success of OI and N3 messed up their heads. They begin to act like GW. They pretend that they are open to players, but I think if all goes this way the rules to Infinity 4 will not be for free.

I know that term in english and yes it was a complement.
I need to visit BoW to get some games in on their tables. ^^
Shiny …
I´d like a more sci-fi touch. This is too medieval.
loving the boards will definitely have to make my own boards now
I love this table. That Plastcraft stuff really looks good.
I love the geometry of that plascraft terrain and combined with the sand board and the odd splash of green it is very aesthetically pleasing.. but there’s something about that gold paint that puts me in mind of a children’s nativity play. I half expected to see the three fusiliers wearing robes made from blankets and paper crowns! 😀
Water effects sound cool. I think I’d paint the part beneath the clear resin a pale blue.
Loving the wind trap like towers. Can’t decide what i like more though. The table or @lloyd i like trains t-shirt 😀
Nice tips, guys 🙂
Excellent work
Sand castles eh!
That Plast Craft terrain looks fantastic!
Nice. Was hoping for a desert board, have one in the making.
cool table but I prefere the antenociti stuff ^_^
somepoint in the video we can see Bostria on phone ,… poor little guy cast a beer in his direction ^___^
Looks good, but it seems a little open for infinity
Love the table. I reckon the clean look really suits Infinity’s less grimdark future. Save the overweathering for other games.
Missing 🙂 there BTW
Considering the relatively simple painting process sounds, this table really came together well!
Nice looking set up, looks like it would be fun to play on 🙂
Real good work boys !
Something tells me you better have a good pair of sunglasses in that city.
what a nice set-up. i wish i had the space and Money to build something like that
Cool terrain guys, just needed Jabba’s Palace.
This video would be epic, if it weren’t for the fact that it means n3 week is half over! 🙁
It couldnt be a British video without a Monty Python reference, lol. This is some of my favorite terrain. Its just amazing.
i have this terrain and i must say its beautiful, lot of details in the pieces, its not only flat surfaces they have some kind textures that make it look fantastic
I made my Battlefield with this Terrain. It is wonderfull. Easy to paint and nice for scrathbuilding some details.
Another great looking table, well done guys! I would love to have the space for numerous themed tables – I’m still searching for a good solution. Perhaps a double sided board? Have you done any hobby labs on ‘home’ boards?
Very nice, photos of the terrain don’t do it justice.
Would be interesting to see a battle report done on that table.
A future version with water features will be sight to see.
Shiny!
Not my favorite, but still looks good.
Looks nice, just too goldish for me 🙂
Nice table!
Not sure about all the gold but I really like the style of the scenery.
As a Nomad player i would love to destroy a haquislam place like that and maybe scratch the buildings to get enought gold to get new weapons 😛
Another great board guys, stop showing me these things, I just bought a house I’m supposed to be cutting back on hobby spending for a while 🙂
Love the birds eye view camera angle !
Big mess in Corvus belli. I suggest to think about pre-order N3. Mr. Carlos is lying about Operation Icestorm. He knows that his company is not finish sending the starter. No response to emails from customers.
Cracking looking terrain, something that you don’t see every day
The planter boxes really helped tie the board together, that’s something I will need to do in a future project.
Awesome table, like this one even more than the forset table.
very nice table.
It’s a great compliment to Haqqislam.
the plastcraft stuff looks good on table
I would have never done a table in Gold so I’m really glad you guys did! Looks great! Terrain should never grab the eye more than the miniatures that you play with in my opinion. I agree with Warren that this table looks better as a whole compared to the previous one you showed.
Great comment also about the problems of creating Curved surfaces with the MDF, obvious really, but I hadn’t thought about it before.
I want to see a battle report on this now!
wow… another awesome table
@warzan I went back and watched the making-of video in the XLBS where you put this together, I was wondering if you could tell us more about the construction – did you prime the stuff before painting? Did you notice any aerosol damage to the PVC? You wished you had part-built some stuff first, was that a factor of speed or construction – do you feel it would have been easier to find pieces or did you find that the paint hampered a good super-glue bond?
Nice tips!
Great table, can’t wait for a battle report using it.
So you’ve done a Planet Dawn/Ariadna table and a Boruk/Haqqislam table. Any plans on doing a Veruna or Svalarheim table?
Good stuff.
Sweet table, really enjoying the look of those greens
I wonder if the Plastcraft pieces will bend to be round enough to make a giant artichoke field for a Tohaa board.
Yet another inspiring board!
This makes want to create a Dessert table full of cake, cookies, and brownies!
mmmmmmmmm
Nice table.
Next
I really like those building, although I prefer pre-painted terrain pieces. I barely have enough time to paint miniatures 😛
nice looking table and battle area
Liked that board when you first showed it. It’s ideal for infinity
These videos are making me develop a terrain inferiority complex.
That is an amazing looking table chaps
Like i said on youtube. Shiney, but i would have gone for a stoney look 🙂
Nice to see the table finished
Love the table guys I’m not sure that the power stations would be safe their if the enemy attacks they can just hit the stations to destroy the base.
from my old days as a model maker I would suggest an alternative to real sand, a spray with a speckle or fine mist of several yellows and browns can produce a nice scaled sand effect.
I haven’t been a fan of the Plast Craft stuff because I never really liked how it looked. Seeing it on a table though with the theme that was done has made me reconsider looking at some of it.
Nice Haqqislam themed table. After I finish up my Nomad army I’ll be making a Haqqislam army.
Yet another great table. Nice to see so many different styles as opposed to just the typical urban/forest settings.
Love the plastcraft games scenery
I prefer the Forest board but both are stunning.
nice themed table
The table looks brilliant – nice job.
Great Haq table!
Love the plastcraft games scenery. I have to get some of their new white and blue line
You didn’t use the palm trees from hobby lab. I thought those were for this table.
A friend of mine has some of the Plascraft buildings and while they were a bit fiddly to put together, they look absolutely awesome.
Another interesting table, keep it up 🙂
I love this table. As a big DUST fan, I also like the grid on this for use with Tactics.
Inspiring game board!
I get massive shiny syndrome whenever I look at this board
Just watched the vid, great table again.
Improvement on the blue banners just up to almost the end of the show and then… come on guys, please think of you viewers, can you not have a page at the beginning and end with the links on like you do with the weekender content?
I really like the look of it but I can’t say that I would want to play on this board, I just find way too many open / long fire lines there
Interesting looking terrain!
I really like that board they way it is set up looks really good wish I had more trees I have zero
it looks alright, but maybe there are lots of line of fire??
Love infinity terrain. Skirmish ftw!
I really like the style of those Haqq buildings, the gold isn’t quite to my taste though 😛 I think some weathering would go a long way if you get time to go back and work on it again.
Where do you place all that sand once you are finished??? 🙂
I’ve been interested in this table ever since I saw it on the Weekender quite a while ago. You guys make awesome terrain!
Very cool. I’m not a huge fan of this style compared to the last table but I can still appreciate that it’s cool.
Nice board. Gold a bit bright for me. May make a luxury gardens board with that stuff and lots of pools, water features and shrubberies
this board is ok, I like the forest outpost better
sand vs. paint. this table would make me nervous. It looks great though.
I love it. I’ve not done a desert table cause I’m worried about how to do the sand texture.
Awesome looking board.
Sweeet looking table..
Looks great guys.
Nice table.
Adding some green to a desert table really does make it pop.
I do really like the Plastcraft stuff…. all the curves really contrast with the MDF stuff.
My Main concern with this terrain is storage (same with alot of the HDF stuff too)
I do like that stuff, the curves really differentiate it from everything else.
These Haqqislam-inspired Plastcraft buildings are just gorgeous
Great looking table
Lovely looking table.
I feel this example of terrain is too heavy for my taste of play.
When I win the lottery and buy my mansion I’ll set up a few boards that have awesome terrain setups like that.
Very good looking scenery, it’s a pity that BoW guys rushed and sprayed all the thing in … gold?!? Though I really liked the shrubbery gag and I suppose they hadn’t enough time to sort out better the pieces because they had to cut down the mightiest tree in the forest with an … herring!
So BoW guys, formerly known as the Knights who say Ni, you are just and fair, and we will return to comment if you give us the prize ^.^
wow loving that board the buildings really look awesome, thanks for showing us 🙂
Initially, i wasn’t too keen on the look of the board. But, towards the end of the video it started to warm on me. I do still like the other one a lot though!
I’m not completely sold on the gold, but I think if it was weathered a bit more it would be fine.
Looks really great! Totally agree about the water, it would really spice things up and contrast awesomely on that table.
Beautiful table
Mysterious Cities Of Gold FTW 😀
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ki99YBVKyw
I will try the pre paint aproch next time.
Fantastic changes, so into my Infinity right now and my Operation Icestorm just arrived a few minutes ago ;0))
It the Cities of Gold! (Loved that show)
These boards are always gorgeous. It’s too bad I play so many scales: I put all my love into a 10mm scale board and just don’t have the heart/space to make one for normal sci-fi mini’s like infinity…
Do it!! I wanna see this board re-done with the water effects!!!
Another great board nice work guys
Just ordered the Bourak terrain set, can’t wait to start making something like this.
I love the terrain that you build, cant wait for a snow region
I rally want to try Infinity out, but I’ll wait until the rules show up on the website.
Give me that Jotum!
Really nice stuff…..must start my own scenery
More tables, pls..
Would like to have such nice gaming tables in my town…
Impressive table, even if I’m not a big fan of gold.
How about a nice urban table?
Badass table. Water would have been awesome
Love the piled-up sand on one of the towers; makes it look more like a wind swept desert scene. Great looking table.
Great looking terrain again. PlastCraft know their craft.
The table’s so shiny….
Looks awesome though
Nice table.
Great lines of fire and alleyways! Hope to see a battlereport here.
I very strongly agree! Needs a BatRep, maybe som YuJing vs HaqIslam?
Nice board but a little sparse for my Infinity tastes.
I wish I had the space for something like this.
I know why they’ve set it up thus, but I can’t help but feel that this needed a Haqq army in it. One wonders why their forces weren’t involved in these two other forces fighting over their random-assortment-of-buildings compound!
That is a really nice looking table, I heard mixed things on the Plastcraft terrain, but i might try picking a bit up and trying it out now.
These cardboard terrain do look amazing when painted properly, well done
wow this would be the table for my Haqqislam. it looks like the arabian nights. i think i need more money 😉
Very nice table! I’d totally be afraid of playing on that surface though. I see a lot of tough-up work to your minis in the future boys.
Very cool board.
Looking forward to checking out what the guys explain using this cool table.
I’m really tempted to get some Plastcraft buidlings for my Haqqislam army. I’m not so sure about the shiny gold paintjob though. I’d probably use a more subtle tone and a lot more detailing and weathering. It looks like you just sprayed this and stuck it together (you probably did), which makes all the buildings look like cheap toys instead of wargame scenery.
I hope you will do a second pass on this if you can find the time. Maybe make a tutorial around it about improving basic paintjobs. Could be like the tank series, but for buildings.
Nice looking terrain.
Looks nice! 🙂
Very nice board. I’m not totally sold on the gold, but apart of that it looks spectacular!
Another great video by the BoW team. Loving Infinity week. Keep up the excellent work!
great table and buildings
Very nice table !
Great to see such different terrain – love to imagine using them on a board with a lot of urban water features (Help! Fusilier Angus pinned down behind the ornamental pond!).
Like the table. neee
Another nice table guys! I’d like to see more of this kind of things maybe more scratch built stuff. (^_^)
Despite my dislike of gold, it’s not really the paint that’s the problem, it’s the parts themselves. Doesn’t say Infinity to me, they’re lacking something that I can’t quite put my finger on right now.
Nice to see the terrain set has spaces big enough to accomodate a TAG.
I like the forest set-up better, though variety is important.
Can you find the tallest tree in the forest and cut it down with….. a HERRING! No, seriously awesome looking board.
Have only been in the table top hobby for a month now, practising my painting and and assembling on ‘hand me downs’ and I felt I was finally ready to take the plunge into one wargame that gave me multiple play style options. I must say. Infinity has done that for me :’)
Nice table!
There’s nothing like playing a game (any tabletop miniatures game) on a fully realized board you have built yourself. Take it slow, build up some pieces that look nice, but are multi-purpose, and then fill it out with some pieces themed around your armies. It really brings another level to the game over mono-color hills and felt circles.
Gorgeous table!

I can’t wait for N3!
This table is amazing.
Just learned about N3 and picked up Icestorm today. Now I’m working my way through the videos… and hoping I win the boxes to fill out my forces!
Another great looking board guys! There really are some excellent terrain pieces available out there!

The Old Man in the Mountain is watching you.
Another very nice table. I’m going to have to make it more of a point to check out all these great modular terrain companies that have been popping up over the last few years.
