Darrell is asked a question about the Necrons. Have they really lost their punch in 6th Edition, or have they just changed their focus?

Watch out! Incoming grammar Nazis!!!
It’s spelt ” tyeh’er “! get it right. lol
So what your saying is after laying dormant for millions of years. The time is not right and they should go back into stasis.
All very fluffy is Darrell Ok 🙂
Forgot the best thing a lord can take, mindshackle scarabs.
Imagine getting challenged by arjac you make him roll he fails then hits himself with his own hammer after which you warscythe his remaining wounds away
I don’t see why people keep ripping of Necrons in 6th edition. I love what the new rules have done for my necrons. I may shift my strategies around a bit, but overall I’m quite pleased.
So in the other video you think giving SM sergeants a storm shield is an awesome idea, but giving one to a necron lord is a waste of points? Personally I think you’ve gotten that backwards, if you’re giving someone an invul save give it to the guy who has a chance to get back up.
As for necrons I think they do alright in 6th. They can take a ton of flyers(which some armies still have no defence against) they can take gauss and glance everything to death, far easier than other armies, or they can take tesla which still gives them a decent chance to glance vehicles between the higher str and potential extra hits, and it does great at killing infantry.
I agree with bigbri. Why is giving a ‘Denial Seargeant’ a Storm Shield to tie up an enemy all the rage, but you don’t like the Phase Shifter? It means he also has a save against Lascannons and other AP 1-2 weapomns, making him even more durable. And on the Resurrection Orb, what if you decied to save 30 points and not get it, he dies, then you roll a…wait for it…4 on your Reanimation Protocols? It makes him that much more durable, especially in challenges. Like he dies in a challenge, then gets up, and can challenge again. Also, if he’s fighting a I2 challenger and they both kill each other, and he gets up, that’s good. The Orb basically gives him better Reanimation Protocols. Also, i find that 5+ normally fails.
I’m so with you and @bigbri on your points. Necrons are still good.
A necron lord with a res orb, 2+ and warscythe is 90 points. the 15 points more than a sanguinary priest with a jump pack. Both the characters are helping units in different ways and the the lord is also more fighty.
I know he is trying to implement the same points cost to his tactics, but remember the characters have different benefits.
Necrons are still a top army.
Gauss spam can pretty much handle any army. More so than it could in 5th.
IG with loads of tanks? No problem. Glancing hits can wreck, now.
Swarms of ‘nids? Good luck getting close enough to attack, you’re bound to have to suffer at least 1 round of 2 shots with an AP better than your saves.
I still spam Warriors, Ghost Arks, Lords and Immortals… that’s a lot of gauss and a lot of getting back up/repairing.
Also, night fighting can really ruin a Space Wolf (Or any long-ranged army for that matter.) army and there’s plenty of ways to obtain it.
In a challenge with a Warscythe a Lord probably won’t be squished :p.
The Lord would attack first. That’d be 2 attacks with S7 at WS4 and no armour saves allowed.
So a Termie would have to rely on his 5+ Inv save.
I can’t understand what you guys are thinking. I’ve seen and heard nothing but good things about Necrons in 6th edition. They can spam flyers better than anybody, have some of the most resilient troops in the game (even if you do kill them they have a 50%chance to get back up if equipped properly), they have some of the most useful HQ’s in the game. Necrons have become one of the better armies since their codex was released and I haven’t seen anyone complaining about them, as a matter of fact I’ve seen more people start Necron armies since their release than any other army, even GK’s didn’t get the swell of players that Necrons got when their codex was released.
They also have multiple builds that actually work and are useable. You can have hordes of Warriors backed up by Ghost Arks to keep their numbers up. You can use the Cron Air build taking more flyers cheaper than anyone else. You can build a more elite force using some of the more expensive units, and they are all viable builds. Personally I think Necrons are one of the most balanced codex’s out, and give their players more options and more useful units than any other codex.
Darryl, you really don’t want to put your lord right at the front mate. As your dice rolling proved, he will die cos we all roll bloody 1’s………and you don’t want to lose something that carries a warscythe, an orb which ensures that your guys get back up 50% of the time.
I believe Necrons are better in 6th and overall, got a boost.
lolwut necrons have the best codex out, who is complaining they have lost their punch
Good post kendo. I like how you used Imotekh for your avatar.
