XLBS with breakfast, now to warhammerfest! Time to spend silly amounts of money 😉
I saw a demo table set up at the game store just last weekend with all quiet on the Martian front minis and it looked awesome. Has me tempted to get a starter set.
I’ve been struggeling not to put money into All Quiet on the Martian Front. I did that with Dropship Commander too, at least until you had the Dropship Commander weekend which resulted in me diving into that game. Don’t you dare having a All Quiet on the Martian Front feature…don’t you dare…. 🙂
Here is a 28mm tripod:
http://www.fighting15sshop.co.uk/100sci01-tripod-fighting-machine-4744-p.asp
If your thinking of 15mm Martians don’t forget Black Hat miniatures VSF-range which would fit nicely with All Quiet on the Martian Front.
Cheers
why not just use the all quiet tripods in a 28mm game? I hear they’re pretty tall and even though they won’t reach the heights you might want they’d still be a good stand in for a smaller urban or maybe trench assault tripod.
YES, you’ve got to get the 15mm All Quiet on the Martian Front going for a demo game at least.
Talking of demo games, any possibility of doing a 6mm Napoleonic game in the future , especially with the anniversary of Waterloo coming up ?
Would really like you guys to do summit with the martians, maybe a demo game or summit??
Don’t get me started on Myth again for Gods sake. Lol
EU still doesn’t know when we’re getting it.
From what i’m led to believe the Star Destroyer was a show piece and they aren’t sure about a general release.
The X-Wing will be a kit you have to put together, but is coloured plastic and doesn’t need glue – Just like their Gundam kits.
For vampires… watch the anime Hellsing Ultimate. It’s about Alucard battling vampire Nazis.
are club have been doing Victorian martian with tripods for nearly 10 years now
New to BoW but must say I am loving it all. Thanks guy
Marvin the Martian tripods “ohh yes” get them on the show
Cheers chaps
I love the tripods, but the human stuff is just so stupid… The land ships were the final straw. To me War of the Worlds is about pitting real stuff against martians — not weird human super science with no real units in sight…
That’s partly my problem with DUST too. Really, not a single real WWII unit in existence anymore??? I understand the financial side of it, they want you to use their models, not Tamiya kits or whatever, but it just destroys my suspension of disbelief.
Excellent show again guys.
I was thinking of getting into aqmf but will wait to see if they do a British starter set.
Other than that I was toying with 10mm for it, just need to find tripods in the right scale, or use the 15mm ones. Need to see them did real first.
I second the above request for 6mm Nap battle report.
That should read ‘see them for real first’.
Which card set were you playing Myth with? The original (flawed) set or did you obtain the 1.1 set?
I got the 1.1 cards printed off through printerstudio.com (look fo links to builds via BGG forums) fulfilled in Germany for about £12.
Yeah. I kept waiting for the mention that the game is an incoherent mess out of the box and you need the downloads to make it work.
This link ( http://goo.gl/n8tJGq ) takes you to the community built deck(s) as ready to go project on Printerstudio.com … anyone looking to use this check out the link at the top of the page for special offer codes such as free shipping and discounts.
I boosted my order to free-shiping breakpoint by ordering some card boxes and then effectively got a deck of ordinary playing cards with a family photo on the back for free.
I’ve only had a demo of AQotMF but from that limited sample of the rules I don’t think it’d be too difficult to hack it into WWI. It does look epic at 15mm and that would probably be how I did it, but as @wargamingpastor says, the tripods are pretty big so you might get away with using them in 28mm.
Saw all quiet at salute 2013 but it wasn’t on general release 🙁 please get them on 🙂
great vid, enjoying being a backstage member now thank you 🙂
Thumbs up for an AQotMF show, really great models. A note to above comments, the game is set in the 2nd Martian War, so the humans have re-engineered Martian technology from the first invasion, hence all the weird-fi stuff, also make the game much more interesting than duck-shooting humans until the Tripods collapse from a heavy cold 🙂
Wizkids, the Star Trek Attack Wing folks, do big scale games for Attack Wing demos at expo’s and conventions.

I would definately play All quiet on the western front in 28mm.. Using Mars Attack aliens is a good idea as well. I have WW1 minis, so just need to get some aliens, also chuck some zombies in as well… I may even go inter war for the period rather than WW1.
Excellent show with two of my favourite games, Dust and All Quiet on the Martian Front. I have been a Dust Warfare gamer for two years but have yet to try Tactics, it seems too abstract for my tastes. Battlefield is a much better game with added rules but I prefer the depth of Warfare, both are great games using the same figures and vehicles. I have a Blog showing my Dust stuff and a friend and I have just started a Dust Podcast.
http://dustaustralis.blogspot.com.au
yes yes yes to All Quiet on the Martian Front! I would like to see it most in 15mm however a 28mm would be ok too.
I’d love to see coverage of AQotMF. The game looks really fun, and really different. I didn’t have any money to put down on the Kickstarter, and I was also less sure about the direction they seemed to want to go in with the Brits and the aliens from Venus, but I like a lot of what I’ve seen of the stuff that’s out so far.
Myth looks interesting, and I’m looking forward to finding out more. I wonder if there’s any scope for making 3D terrain?
Can you show us some more of that black trench / bridge board you have in the background? It looks pretty cool!
you guys should totally do AQOTMF!!!!
Would I like to see All Quiet on the Martian Front featured on Beasts of War. Let me think. YES!
Great show guys. Nice chat about Dust hoping to see our KS soon. Already looking for the star destroyer.
Excellent show. I’d love to learn more about the Alien Dungeon Martians. Good stuff.
Another free tripod model called a Trilateral Union Suppressor is available at
http://www.genetmodels.com/ebbles-miniatures-2010-2011/
WW I + Martians = Works for me. That trailer was exceptionally cool.
I’m also looking froward to Myth week and Tank week (when it finally happens). I think you could do a great job showing us how to play Myth. I have faith in you guys, so rise to the challenge. 😎
Happy Sunday!
I first saw AQotMF on Pezzapoo’s youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8duIncE5qnE so i’d love to more about it on here. Get the designers on the show and whatnot. 🙂
*so I’d love to see more… 😛
Defo Martians vs WWI – War of the Worlds is my fav novel and it would be great to have a table top game set in WWI would be epic
Cracking weekenders chaps. You should definitely get Alien Dungeon on to talk about AQotMF ( and maybe get a demo game filmed ? ).
I for one would like very much to hear more about All Quite on the Martian Front.
FIVE FOOT STAR DESTROYER!
I’m not much of a Star Wars fan compared to many around these parts but … FIVE FOOT STAR DESTROYER!
Also: FIVE FOOT STAR DESTROYER!
I’d love to see you guys explore All Quiet on the Martian Front.
A martians vs. WWI Earth shwo would be great. I caught on to AQotMF through a news item here on BoW, probably showing off the landship. The minis have a very cool style. And like Sam said I also like the WWI tanks from FoW much better than the WWII stuff. They just have so much character. I’m even tempted to start playing something World War related. The only thing that topped it was ‘Nam Week.
The 5 foot star destroyer is rather awesome looking. Would be great to play X-Wing around it.
Regarding birthday wishes on the show: why not do it as a credits roll after the show finishes?
You should be able to easily scroll 600 names printed in 2 or 3 columns in 30 seconds I recon. I am sure your viewers would apreciate the gesture.
Best regards
Bartender
1/144 scale is also the most common scale for giant robot model kits. Seeing a big table with Gundams or Macross Valkyries against Martian tripods would be awesome. Especially if you take a page out of modeler pages and give the Gundams a Steampunk retrofit. Damn, now I’ll need to hunt for a good rules set to make this work with.
love to see a game of all quiet on the martian front. Tripods!!!!
tempted to buy AQOTWF at SELWG today, looked amazing, but knew nothing about it.
Love to see a demo game and review
@warzan Take a look at the series of weathering videos by FichtenFoo here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wreblsPaUhU
As soon as I started watching this, I picked up a few ~1:50 scale ships to weather up using the same techniques for use with the Star Wars RPG. As for the Bandai model kits, they will be producing some kits in 1/48 too. I really hope they do a few a ground vehicles!
Oh and on the subject of movies, I went to see the new TMNT film.
*shudders*
I have a high tolerance for crap. I can watch a bad movie, play a bad game or read a bad book and as long as there is something about it that entertains me then I would come away with a mildly positive experience and.. yeah, a lot of the time that will do me. So believe me when I say.. repress your morbid curiosity if you can. Avoid at all costs
I Love your Show guys keep up the good work! Buf what iam missing is more battle Reports or Videos of you playing the games! I would Love to see some Bolt action or dust battlefield Videos. You always say that you Play the games in your Clubs why not Record them?!
All quiet on the Martian Front….. Yes please.
I agree all quiet coverage would be awesome. I got in on the kickstater and its a decent game system. Also on their forums somebody has done a Marvin the Martian tripod conversion.
Great show seeing all quiet on the western front would be good then again any Martian game would be good.
yes please keep going with the WWI invasion using all quite on the martian front. love the retro feel and i love 15mm. Lloyd you have nothing to fear, and making the terrain seems to be right up your ally.
Definitely have a crack at All Quiet On The Martian Front. I backed the Kickstarter and am having a real good time with it. Definitely more narrative than tournament style and encoraouges gamers to get creative! My Ironclad is on the way. Very excited.
Guys?……the Alien Dungeon stuff is really good? The plastic kits are simple and well designed and the US tanks are very ‘modular’. I have a fair amount painted and really to go……just added some of the latest releases which hopefully will make it to my work bench next week. It’s one Kickstarter I wish I had backed!
First post on this site and I just had to. YES, All quiet on the martian front would be awesome on beasts of war
Oh wow AQOTMF I head so much of them I would love to see more of them
Don’t think anyone has mentioned Spartan’s Invaders models for Dystopian Wars: http://www.spartangames.co.uk/first-contact-invaders-campaign
They have bug eyes too! (Always a bonus…)
At destination Star Trek last weekend they had a large scale version of attack wing, I’ll find a link to my face book for it.
I love the look of the Alien Dungeon tripods but am not so keen on the whole steam tank/ land ship stuff!
hell yes, AQOTMF looks seriously cool. 15mm man!!
How about playing X-Wing in 1:72 on a large hex grid? the manoeuvres could be easily translated to a hex system!
Amen, @tonysilvey . Anything in hexes just works cleaner, faster, and with less ambiguity re: line of sight / fire or fire arcs.
More World War One with Martians? Yes, please!
Would Love a Star Destroyer Model
hell yes more all quiet on the martian front ! just painted up my starter box , great models . great show guys again .
Yeah, Martians! I’d love to see the Martians vs tanks at 15mm. Those tripods look so retrocool!
better get my skates on painting ALL me myth stuff then
Interesting to hear about Myth, I had avoided getting drawn down that rabbit hole.
Great episode guys. The tank looks perfect for an imperial guard army that has been in the middle of a campaign for some time because it does not look s fresh or clean as a gw leman russ.
Also I have seen demos of Star Trek Attack Wing with large ships with large movement templates. Thus your idea with x-wing would work.
It seems I have won a Martian Front starter set in Alien Dungeon’s 15k likes giveaway on FB so now I will definitely be giving this a go 🙂
The Star Destroyer looks amazing. @warzan is right, though, an actual 1:72 / 20mm star destroyer would be 73 feet long. I think FFG’s X-wing is based on 1/270 according to their site, but even this scale would produce a Star Destroyer 19.5 feet long.
But still, this is freakin’ awesome! If I won this thing in a lottery or something, I’d be tempted to build a fleet of tiny fighters on the same scale. Sure, an X-wing would only be about half an inch long, but think of the numbers you could field. According to sourcebooks I have, Star Destroyers carry 72 TIE fighters each, so how’s that for a massive battle?
Well you guys took me on a roller coaster of emotions, rage with the myth kickstarter that I’m still waiting for, and joy with the all quiet game, I’ve played a couple of games of it and you won’t be disappointed it’s a cracking system,
http://toomuchmetal.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/all-quiet-on-martian-front-demo-game.html#comment-form
Have a mooch see what you think
ohhhhh YEAH….. 15mm WW! and Aliens…. sweet
Please get the designers of AQotMF in for a chat and a demo. The game looks awesome and it would be great to find out release dates for those big landships etc. Excellent XLBS, thanks!
One should papercraft such a big Star Destoyer.
Yeah Spartan have a great range of invanders and even flying versions something maybe to think about
Bah, what can I say? Great show guys.
