Awesome!!!! So good to see X-wings and TIE’s duking it out inside an atmosphere. Tho I admit im definitely thinking Luke has turned to the dark side…
Wow….That caused such emotion to build up inside me….Not many film trailers can do that…and it makes me feel hope again and of course memories of my youth too…when star wars ruled the silver screens and kids grounds was full of playtime. Now it feels like us “Old ones” can join in again..!!! see you in the playground…I be a X-wing..!!!!
I know the feeling. There’s not much can make a miserable old man like myself well up, but apparently the sight of Chewbacca on the Millennium Falcon can. Who knew?

I think Luke is in seclusion because he did something incredibly bad in a fit of rage, probably pulled a Star Destroyer apart or some such. More importantly who dies? Han or Chewie?
It ends up being Han. Chewie naturally does the eulogy for 5 min. Shame nobody knows what he’s saying now.

That was a surprisingly low key trailer but one that was full of promise. Can’t wait!
That was just…wow. I felt the emotion build up much the same as @soulman. Its going to be such a thrill to finally see the film. Just hearing the TIE and laser effects sent a chill down this old star wars fans spine.

I’m sooooooo excited about this movie! This feels like it did, back in the day, where I could not wait to get to a theater! And in 3D, IMAX no les!!! YES PLEASE. 😀
Looks fantastic! I rarely say that with a film. Who was the guy covered in sweat having a force battle with the force using bad guy? He looked too young to be Mark Hamill, who seems strangely absent?
My only concern is that there seems to be yet another Death Star looming in the back of the poster.Even so I am hardly deterred.
Not sure if he’s having a force battle, I think it looks more like he’s about to get tortured. But Luke is there, you don’t see his face but I’m guessing he’s the guy with the bionic hand with the white top and black cloak placing his hand on R2D2 at about 1.40.
I say this will hit the mark this time. Doing a movie that ties into the original cast that we love is good. Now they only need to do is make the story and new faces appealing and it will be gold.
Are we all just accepting that the Masked force villain isn’t Luke? Sure they’ve sold us a line about someone else playing the role but Luke not on the poster? Maybe he is? Maybe he wants to finish his fathers work? And why that fleeting shot of him tenderly touching R2? Is it just me…
I bet he’s absent as he has buggered off somewhere, so the new young jedi’s can go find master skywalker, much like he did to find Yoda, probably is only in the last 20 minutes of the first film.
That said if he has turned to the dark side i want him to use his joker voice that would rock!
Well that was better that i thought it would be, but then again the phantom menace had an ok looking trailer, lets just hope no stupid voiced CGI monstrosities appear and someone keeps control of the lens flare slider….
Has Luke turned to the dark side? Makes you wonder, when you see a picture of Vader’s old helmet, and the line “I wil finish what you started”.

Could be a clone of skywalker grown from his severed hand, or more likely as MH is quite reticent about being involved in starwars will just be an underling who survived DS 1 & 2 being blown up. Guess just need to keep on eye on lego sets for spoilers like iron man 3… 😉

Doesn’t really feel like a star wars film and if you swapped out the storm troopers and TIE fighters it wouldn’t look like it either. Meh.
That might not be a bad thing, after the 3 Pre-Sequels , To survive and thrive it needs a change of direction.
The only thing that saved the Star Wars Franchise was the Clone Troopers series on CNW.
I still want to know what happened to Asoka. Fingers crossed for a surprise appearance in The Force Awakens.
She’s in the Star Wars: Rebels cartoon series. I suspect her story will be wrapped up there, perhaps even during the new season two.

There was a movie/pilot episode for season 2 that aired over the summer. Then season 2 just started last week. Definitely watch the special episode before starting season 2. You can catch old episodes on the disneyXD website if your TV/internet provider allows it. (When I go to the site it confirms with my ISP that I get disneyXD channel automatically and offers all the episodes to watch.)
It gives me spine chill every time I watch it.
Could Finn ( the African Storm Trooper ) BE Mace Windu’s son ???
Especially with all the “open yourself to the Force ” quotes and him being in a light saber battle ???
I think it’s unlikely given that Mace died 50-odd years before. Plastic surgery can work wonders but I still say Finn is too young! Lando’s son, on the other hand…

What he did with Star Trek ; actually making good SciFi space opera movies out of the dross that all the preceding 10 movies were.

Who was the Sith at the end? The guy in the mask or has he ‘turned’ Dameron? Nice bit of visual ambiguity there. The battles look great.

My date of birth would have you believe that I am in my mid-thirties, but Starwars still has the power to make me feel like a kid again, and that is the sense I got from this trailer.
It may be time to dare to hope that this movie might actually be good…

It’ll be interesting to see/fnd out more about where the new order comes from. Are they remnants of the empire and they have been at it/ looked in Cold War with the new republic for 30 years or are they something new.

I think Luke is the guy in the scene with R2-D2. Black cloak, white shirt, black glove on the hand that got cut off…
I think he’s spent the last 30 years searching for Jedi secrets and ended up in the forest temple that Han and Finn go to in the trailer, but they want that to be a big reveal so keep it vague in the trailer to avoid spoilers.
Yea I think that’s is Luke’s hand.
Maybe the Knights of ren are his the reason he’s in exile. His first students turned dark?

My bet is that Luke gets turned into a force ghost like Obi wan.
I really hope they don’t reveal Luke to have gone dark side, as that would pretty much render one of the main aspects of the original trilogy pointless. Could be they’re taking inspiration from the follow on books and have it be Luke’s son. Would explain the familiarity with R2.
I have a bad feeling that Luke is going to die in this film, I’m basing it on the last 6 films, film 1 Hand obiwons master, wats his face(scrubbed as much of the film from my memory) killed.
Film 3 Luke’s master, obiwon gets killed.
Film 7 new character Jedi trainee of Luke……

I think that if Luke (as a barely trained Jedi) can survive being tortured by Palpatine and still manage to redeem his father, then the likelihood of him falling to the dark side is slim-to-none. He could die, but that, I think, would be a waste if he hasn’t restored the Jedi Order (the trailer all but says this isn’t a thing) as heavily hinted by the title of Episode 6.
Only time will tell though. I, for one, can’t wait for December 17th!

That moment where THIS CHRISTMAS rotates into view and the theme starts….goose bumps. Every time. This is an outstanding trailer. So many thoughts and theories flying around,I can’t wait.
I thought in the books that Luke does go dark for a bit, but only as a point of training so that he knew what to look out for in the temptations of the darkside. He brought balance to the force by being as close to light and dark as possible….or am I remembering complete nonsense. (I suspect the latter)
