Not only is it really good value, its also a safe investment with PP as they are very unlikely to make anything obsolete in the future. personally i think the best games of warmachine are to be had with the starter boxes 😉 (not that big a fan of infantry machine :()
The good thing about PP is even when they do make something absolete you can still use it.
All they do is release a different version and call it an upgrade. Leaving you to still use the previous version if you want to.
Perhaps its time to invest in more Khador… or maybe some Everblight

PP have always had the fans at the fore. From letting them beta test the Mk2 rules to this starter bundle. I think I won’t sell off my Khador after all.

Ontop of the £40 or so for the deal, you are still looking at minimum of £17-30 for shipping depending on your choice of shipping.

This is a great idea shame I wanted to start retribution, does anyone know if a starter set is planned?
Maybe eventually but nothing slated for this year as far as I know. The starters are all plastic and retribution light jacks are all metal right now. It may eventually come if we get a new plastic light in Wrath but certainly wouldn’t be out until the wrath releases were finished.
When the faction was first released the demo battlegroup was kayelyssa, a manticore, a chimera, and a griffon I believe.

This is to those who may travel here and are considering the hobby despite the vulgar display of ignorance provided by events of past few days. My personal journey into 40k has been disenchanting to say the least. From the start you had a collective of people who were socially dysfunctional. With the attitude of I play 40k come and tweek my nipples then kiss my ring.
However, this kind of action led me to search for other games. Enter Warmahordes people that play this game atleast over here have a more grounded approach to noobies . There are scores of people who play this game that are called press gangers I think. That hang at local stores or not so local in my case. That are all about helping people learn to not only play but actually coach them on how to build effective armies…
This plus last years price hike from GW is what led me to this game. I have 100 pt cryx and will be starting a second hordes army to celebrate this years GW price hike…

Probably a stupid question but is this only viable for those in the US?
Because from reading the red text in those links its only the battlegroup boxes that are free shipping, the other stuff in the bundle you still have to pay for and from the states it’s probably going to cost the same as just buying everything from my local shop for full price.

This couldnt have come at a better time. Now I love my Space Marine army and will never give up on them but yesterday I decided that I shall get into Warmachine as well. Once I save up a little more I will take advantage of this deal and get me a Menoth battlegroup box.

the starter set deals are free worldwide shipping. PP’s shipping calculator has been an issue on their site for ages…..
the other sets are not free shipping though so if you want the starter deal, just order it seperatly
okies done a dummy order run and it appears to me that in the UK, wayland works out slightly cheaper than the offer does with postage. so ill be supporting wayland games through this as well 😀 whoopzilla!
do they ship to the UK as i wanna get into wargaming and the recent GW bulshit has hit the fan i need to get minis, also would be easier to get people to play in a skirmish sized game
It kinda sucks that they have changed this offer at least twice since it was first announced. To begin the bundle included the templates as well and it was free international shipping on the whole bundle. Then they dropped the templates from the bundle and the price went down a little bit to reflect that.. then they dropped the free shipping for the bundle so it applies to the battlebox only.. and at the same time it seems they dropped the free international shipping.
Sadly it is now a totally worthless offer to anyone in the UK. As others have said, buy from Wayland instead!
Edit: Thought they seem to have tweaked the shopping cart on the site.. international shipping now seems to be $3.00 for a Hordes starter..
The time it would take for it to arrive means that it still ends up not being worth it though.
Not to mention the pleasure of paying HMRC for detaining your item, and Royal Mail charging double that just to tell you about it! Heck, my FLGS is now working out cheaper than a battlebox from the US.
Still, I guess there are other countries out there where it works out cheaper to take advantage of the offer and order from Privateer than it does to buy locally. In those cases, good on ya, PP!
Ah yes, Royal Mail – the purveyors of lost post, not bothering to post things and laziness to deliver packages. And then we have Parcel Force who like to charge £20+ if you happen to not be around to sign for the package and need a redelivery. If I had a real life army I’d likely use it against our British postal services.
OK, how does one get started with this, I’m keen on a Hordes army, but I need a primer on what to buy, compatibility with WM, etc. Anyone willing to help me out with a plan?
Basically, their special deal is a great introductory pack. All you need to start is a battlebox. The rulebook expands on rules omitted from the quickstart rules. After a few battlebox games get what you want to go up to 15 points and possibly a second warlock.
Both games are compatible and you can play an enjoyable and competitive game between them with no conversion charts or extra rules, you just play like normal and it syncs up.
I’m sure the folks in the hordes getting started group would be happy to answer specific questions.

excellent deals, but I only like a particular niche of Cryx so id have to buy everything seperately myself – I probably will though as I appreciate PP as a business/company. I still think they should create a Steampunk styled Daleky type faction though…

All in all it looks like this will be a good time to get into the Warmachine or Xords if you haven’t already.
Yeah – I’m buying a Cryx and Circle starter set. Most of my gaming budget is now going to go toward Warmahordes. Once my Dark Elf and Warriors of Chaos armies are complete, the only money GW will see from me is the rule books and the army books. No more White Dwarf, no more impulse purchases – nada. Just ordered the Skorne deal; I’m completely new to this: any advice on starting from the old hands?

also croc men as merc’s are tasty as well
My oldest son just painted his skorne war pack up then tore me apart with his Titan Gladiator.
He is a total noobie at it as well. I love that whole one eyed ninja gladiator cyclops golem sporting precious look. I don’t know much accept for there tough to play against and really look awesome. I am certain you will have alot of fun with your choice 🙂
Oh best advice I can give any new player is find a local hobby store that hosts war games. You will find player that are called “Press Gangers”. There volunteer trainers for the game itself. You usually have 2 or more at any hobby Store. The Store clerk can point you in there direction…
Just something that needs to be pointed out. If you don’t want to do this deal and you are interested in the Hordes stuff they are including a free faction shirt when you get the box set.

this deal is getting confusing…seems you can get battlebox with free shipping…the bundle adds a rulebook, tokens and now dice but the deal seems to be that you pay postage for these extras and the internatonal shipping gets all confused . So its a bit of a mess outside USA, still not a bad deal. I applaud the idea but the implementation could do with a polish. Whatever the pros and cons the product seems to be flying out the PP warehouse so that must be good…wondering if new plastic resin rightcasts are on way now?
I wonder if wayland can reach out to give Privateer Press a hand with it???
