What’s In The Box: FOW Open Fire | Flames of War
March 8, 2010 by johnlyons
John and Warren have a look at how they are going to start playing Flames of War. So they have a look over the FOW starter set, Open Fire! and two box sets to expand thier armies. The M4A1 Sherman Platoon and the StuG 3 Ausf G Platoon!

haha. I love your German. How about ICH LIEBE PANZER. Schöne Grüße aus Graz^^
I was amazed when Warren… No Darryl? Sorry, I was amazed that he managed to pronounce the sturmgeschutze right at first try.
Need flames of war! xD would be great if you made more BoW!
what are the dimesions of the models??
Will you continue your battles against each other in Flames of War?
I’ve been playing FOW for about 5 years now. My buddy is just getting into it and bought this box set. Overall, it is pretty good. The models are decent quality, when you figure that the regular ones normally cost 12.50 USD each. At 40 USD that is considerable savings. Once painted, they blend in ok considering I’ve seen many players field pieces from other manufacturers (command decision, old glory, etc.) without blinking an eye. I only have two complaints:
1) The pages of the rulebook come out of the binding too easily. For those of you that do not know, this rulebook is the same one that was given out for free when they upgraded to the latest edition when you showed proof of purchase of the old edition. Most people I know take theirs to a local copy store to have the cover laminated and bound for a few dollars.
2) The resin schurtzen are usually broken on the fully cast StuGs in Open Fire!. If you watch the video closely, you’ll see that’s the case with the one they un-box.
A friend of mine and myself are willing to get into this as well. As he wants Germans and I want Americans I guess the Open Fire boxed set will be absolutely great. I’ve never played Flames of War before but I do think i’ll have to plan ahead and see how to expand from my three Shermans that will come from the starter box.
Love the video! It’s a pleasure to watch while working ;o)
Where is the instruction video you promissed?
Want to get some closer to this game before i deside to buy me some minis. 🙁
